PROTAGONISTS OF GREAT STORIES
LUKE 1: 26-38
There is nothing impossible
for God. (NIV)

Every year,
especially in these days, we read this text of the annunciation. Every
character here has an important part: Maria, chosen by God, and the angel, bearer
of great news. Isabel is also mentioned, the old woman who will have a son,
whose mission was fundamental for later Christianity, and who, for the moment,
serves as proof of divine action in things that would seem impossible.
At times we think that
we’re so insignificant that nothing grandioso will happen in our lives. Nevertheless,
when we open ourselves to surprises, we realize that we can be protagonists in
incredible stories.
Remember, that for
God there’s nothing impossible, including that which can seem absurd. Everyone
can be a protagonist in great stories; how humble they may be is not important.
Nevertheless, Jesus was born in a poor stable, and became the protagonist of
one of the greatest stories of humanity.
Fear should not conquer
us. If we trust in the Lord everything will work out for the best. But as the
hymn reminds us, “Never await the coming of a great action; rather, shine in
the place where you are.”
Prayer: God of life, I want to open myself without
fear to the surprises you’ve prepared for us. Thank you because you’ve made humble
people protagonists of great stories. Amen.

Para
Dios no hay nada imposible.
Lucas 1:37
Cada
año, especialmente por estos días, leemos este texto de la anunciación. Cada
personaje aquí tiene un papel importante. María, escogida por Dios, y el ángel,
portador de una gran noticia. También se menciona a Isabel, mujer anciana quien
tendrá un hijo, cuya misión será fundamental
para el posterior cristianismo, y que sirve al momento como la prueba de
la acción divina en cosas que parecerían imposible.
A
veces pensamos que somos tan insignificantes que nada grandioso sucederá en
nuestra vida. Sin embargo, cuando nos abrimos a las sorpresas, nos damos cuenta
que podemos ser protagonistas de increíbles
historias.
Recordemos
que para Dios no hay nada imposible, incluso lo que nos puede parecer absurdo
que ocurra. Todas las personas pueden ser protagonistas de grandes historias.
No importa cuán humildes sean, aquellas que para la gran mayoría de la
humanidad no son de importancia. Sin embargo, Jesús nació en un pobre establo y
protagonizó una de las historias más grandes de la humanidad. El miedo no nos
debe vencer, si confiamos en Dios, todo obrará para bien. Pero, como nos
recuerda el himno, nunca esperes el momento de una gran acción…, sino “brilla
en el sitio donde estés”.
Oración:
Dios de la vida, quiero abrirme sin miedo a las
sorpresas que tú nos preparas. Gracias porque has hecho de personas humildes
protagonistas de grandes historias. Amén.
