OUR REFUGE
PSALM 71:1-4
Be my rock of refuge,
to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
for you are my rock
and my fortress. (NIV)
Psalm 71:3a
For today’s Christian,
God has to be the refuge to which he continually turns to face the challenges
of life. God strengthens us to go out and fight and conquer our weaknesses, our
fears. When we discover the true God, he who calls us to growth, to take heart,
to be mature, depending only on the forces we draw through prayer, then we are
already totally and radically depending on Him.
Human beings who go
in search of this refuge return to everyday strife, chiseled by it and fire. They
are purified and fortified by the presence of God, they attain pure and naked faith,
without false pretexts.
God will not be the magic
solution for the impossible. It’s He who says: I am with you, I am with you although
common sense, your sadness, your painful illness, your fear and your doubt
denies me. I am with you to help you to overcome yourself.
Certainly, the
promise most repeated, time and time again throughout all the Bible is
precisely that of God is with you and yours, to encourage, strengthen and care
for you.
Prayer: O God of life, you
who are always present, allow that I might find the way to you and come back
with you. Amen.

REFUGIO
SALMO 71:1-4
Sé para mí una roca de refugio, adonde
recurra yo
continuamente.
Salmo 71:3a
Para
el cristiano de hoy Dios tiene que ser el refugio donde recurra continuamente para regresar a
enfrentar los desafíos de la vida. Dios nos fortalece para salir a luchar y
vencer nuestras debilidades, nuestros miedos. Cuando descubrimos al verdadero
Dios, el que nos llama al crecimiento, a cobrar ánimo, a ser maduros,
dependiendo únicamente de las fuerzas que sacamos a través de la oración, entonces ya estamos
dependiendo de Él total y radicalmente.
Los
seres humanos que van en busca de este refugio, regresan al fragor cotidiano
cincelados por la pureza y el fuego. Son purificados y fortalecidos por la
presencia de Dios, alcanzan la fe pura y desnuda sin falsos apoyos. Dios no
será la solución mágica para los imposibles. Él es aquel que dice: estoy con
ustedes, estoy contigo aunque el sentido común, tu tristeza, tu dolorosa
enfermedad, tu miedo, tu duda me niegue. Estoy contigo para ayudar a superarte
a ti mismo.
Ciertamente
la promesa que más se repite una y otra vez a lo largo de toda la Biblia es
precisamente la de que Dios está con los suyos, para alentarles, fortalecerles
y cuidarles.
Oración: Oh
Dios de la vida, tú que estás siempre presente, permite que pueda yo encontrar
el camino a ti y regresar contigo. Amén.
