THE ARMOR OF JUSTICE
JEREMIAH 23: 5-8
“The days are coming,”
Declares the Lord,
“when I will raise up
for David a righteous Branch,
a king who will reign
wisely
and do what is just
and right in the land. (NIV)
Jeremiah 23-5
Politicians wear bulletproof vests in the majority of nations,. If one
receives a pistol discharge, the vest stops the bullet so that the politician
isn’t injured. In the old times the threat came from rocks, lances, and swords.
The breastplate-or armor-provided protection to the warrior’s upper torso against such attacks. Now the breastplate of justice has the same
function for you and me: to provide protection in the battle we wage against
sin.
The Apostle Paul recommended
utilizing that “breastplate of justice” as an important part of our spiritual
armor. This protects and covers our heart; furthermore, it’s valuable to allow
us to go forward before any difficulty. One needs to be protected if we want to
repel evil temptations and conquer obstacles in life.
Thus, as Jesus ruled
with justice in the world, we should practice justice in our lives. Don’t let
us lose the gift of living a just and balanced life.
Prayer: God, may we be able to practice
justice to create a better world. Amen.

LA CORAZA DE LA JUSTICIA
JEREMÍAS 23: 5-8
Vienen
días en que haré que un descendiente de David surja como rey. Y será un rey
justo, que practicará la justicia y el derecho en la tierra.
Jeremías 23-5
Los
policías, en la mayoría de las naciones,
visten chalecos antibalas. Si uno recibe un disparo de una pistola, el chaleco
detiene la bala para que no hiera al policía. En los tiempos antiguos, la
amenaza venía de las piedras, lanzas y espadas. El pectoral o coraza, proveía
protección a la parte superior del torso del guerrero contra tales ataques. La
coraza de justicia tiene la misma función para usted y para mí en el presente:
proveer protección en la batalla que libramos contra el pecado.
El
apóstol Pablo recomendaba utilizar esa “coraza de justicia” como una parte
importante de nuestra armadura espiritual. Ésta protege y cubre nuestro
corazón, es además valiosa para permitirnos salir adelante ante cualquier
dificultad. Se necesita ser protegidos si es que deseamos repeler las
tentaciones del maligno y vencer los obstáculos en la vida.
Así
como Jesús reinó con justicia en la tierra,
nosotros debemos practicar la justicia en nuestras vidas. No permitamos
perder ese don de vivir una vida justa y equilibrada.
Oración:
Dios, permite que podamos practicar
la justicia para crear un mundo mejor. Amén.
