LET US RUN WITH
PATIENCE
HEBREWS 12: 1-2
Do you not know
that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize?
Run in such a way
that you may win it.

Running
with ‘patience’ is a bit of a paradox for us. Isn’t running synonymous with
speed? Running slowly, in ‘slow motion’
doesn't seem to make sense. But what
it’s all about is perseverance and calculating our strength. Some have
therefore compared the Christian life to a marathon. Unlike the so-called
“speed” races, in which the runners go out on the track like cars, in those of
great distances a gathering of energy, will and strength is needed, which
allows the runner to reach the finish line in good standing.
The way of
faith is replete with witnesses’ histories that have been able to carry the
gospel and its testimony worthily. They are an example of better encouragement
for us today in our pilgrimage of faith: Support the rest; nobody wins a
solitary prize; it is a sharing of strengths and hopes. In a world as
individualized as ours is today, let us ponder our challenge to give witness to
God’s grace.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the cloud of witnesses that have gone
before us and served as an inspiration and support. Train us so that our faith
will keep that same sense of commitment alive. Amen.

CORRAMOS CON PACIENCIA
HEB 12: 1-2
“Ustedes saben que en una carrera todos corren, pero
solamente uno recibe el premio... corran ustedes de tal modo que reciban el
premio”
I Co. 9:24
Correr
con ´paciencia´ nos resulta un tanto paradójico. ¿No es acaso correr sinónimo
de rapidez? Correr despacio, en ´cámara lenta´ no parece tener sentido. Pero de
lo que se trata es de perseverancia, de calcular las fuerzas. Algunos por ello
han comparado la vida cristiana con una carrera de resistencia. Al contrario de
las carreras llamadas “de velocidad”, en las que los corredores salen como
bólidos a la pista, en aquellas de grandes distancias se necesita un acopio de
energía, voluntad y fortaleza, que permita el llegar bien al final de la meta.
El
camino de la fe está repleto de historias de testigos que han sabido llevar el
evangelio y su testimonio dignamente. Ellos son ejemplo para nosotros hoy en
nuestro peregrinar de fe de mejor ánimo alientan al resto, nadie gana un premio
solitario, es un compartir de fuerzas y esperanzas. En un mundo tan individualizante
como el de hoy, pensemos en nuestro reto de dar testimonio de la gracia de
Dios.
Oración: Gracias, Señor, por la nube de testigos que nos han
precedido y servido de inspiración y aliento. Capacítanos para que nuestra fe
mantenga viva ese mismo sentido de compromiso. Amén.
