LIFE IS A GIFT FROM GOD
PHILIPPIANS 2:1-4
“But
I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course
and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good
news of God’s grace.”
Acts 20:24 (NRSV)
There
is a certain inclination today to look at life as though it were not worth
much. People put themselves in danger abusing drugs. The many suicides indicate
how little life is valued. In every newscast cruel and senseless murders are
reported.
But
life is a gift from God. Its value is
surpassed only by the new life, the rebirth to eternal life with God. Christians
value life and protect it. Paul suggests
that even though we value it as a gift, our lives can be enriched. The
possibilities are endless. Those who do
not appreciate the value of life are the first in whom we must invest. We value
them when we love them and share with them the discovery that we are precious
in the eyes of God, leading them by hand to Calvary to show them the love of
God in Christ Jesus. This maximizes
their value and ours. We value our life when we complete the task that Jesus
Christ gives us.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us complete the task you
gave us. Amen.

LA VIDA ES UN DON DE
DIOS
FILIPENSES 2:1-4
“...que yo pueda correr con gozo hasta el
fin de la carrera y cumplir el encargo que el Señor Jesús me dio de anunciar la buena noticia del amor de Dios”
Hechos 20:24
Hay cierta inclinación hoy en día de
mirar la vida como si no valiese mucho. Las personas se ponen en peligro al
abusar de la droga. Los muchos suicidios indican lo poco que vale la vida
ajena. En cada noticiero se reportan asesinatos crueles y sin sentido.
Pero la vida es un don de Dios. Su
valor es sobrepasado solamente por la nueva vida, el renacimiento a la vida
eterna con Dios. Los cristianos
valoramos la vida y la protegemos. Pablo sugiere que, aunque la valoremos como
un regalo, nuestra vida puede ser enriquecida. Hay posibilidades sin límites.
Los que no aprecian el valor de la vida son los primeros en quienes debemos
invertir. Los valoramos cuando los amamos y compartimos con ellos el
descubrimiento de que somos preciosos a los ojos de Dios, llevá ndolos de
la mano al Calvario para mostrarles el amor de Dios en Cristo Jesús. Esto
desarrolla al máximo su valor y el nuestro. Valorizamos nuestra vida cuando
completamos la tarea que Cristo Jesús nos da.
Oración: Amado Señor, ayúdanos a
completar la tarea que nos distes. Amén.
