Anniversary of  “Christ” Church (Matanzas)

MORE COMPASSIONATE.

Mark 6: 30-34

As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

Mark 6:34 (NRSV)

The time in which Jesus lived was, like ours, an agitated period. The disciples and Jesus were well occupied with preaching and teaching, in addition to their personal matters.

At a needed moment, Jesus was available to have a time of appropriate rest with his disciples, to share learning among themselves in peace; but in the process of this they were found by a group of people, desperate to talk to Him, thirsty to be cared for and refreshed in their sharing.

From the deepest part of his being, Jesus took compassion in order to take time with these people. Compassion can be an enormous force from within that moves us and breaks our inertia to help, to share, to give ourselves, as Jesus does. 

 

Prayer: Beloved God, you know the agitation of our days, the daily challenges with which we live, you know our service to you and the need for time to rest; help us to not be insensitive and to have compassion with those who need it. Move us, Lord, according to your will. Amen.

MÁS COMPASIVOS.

Marcos 6: 30-34

Y salió Jesús y vio una gran multitud, y tuvo compasión de ellos, porque eran como ovejas que no tenían pastor; comenzó a enseñarles muchas cosas.

Marcos 6:34

El tiempo en que vivió Jesús también fue una época agitada, como la nuestra. Los discípulos y Jesús estaban bien ocupados con predicaciones y enseñanzas, además de sus cuestiones personales.

En un momento necesario Jesús se dispone con sus discípulos para tener un tiempo de descanso oportuno, de compartir entre ellos tranquilos, de los aprendizajes; pero en el proceso de esto son encontrados por un grupo de personas, desesperadas por hablar con Él, con sed de ser atendidas y refrescarse en su compartir.

Jesús tuvo compasión, desde lo más profundo de su ser, a tener un tiempo con estas personas. La compasión puede ser una fuerza enorme desde adentro que nos mueve y rompe la inercia para ayudar, compartir, darse, como hace Jesús.

 

Oración: Amado Dios, conoces de lo agitado de nuestros días, de los desafíos diarios que vivimos, sabes de nuestro servicio a ti y de la necesidad del oportuno descanso, ayúdanos a no ser insensibles y tener compasión con quien la necesita, muévenos Señor según tu voluntad. Amén.
