IN SEARCH OF FRUIT
GALATIANS 5:16-26

As
believers, we all want to have the fruit of the Spirit, but how can we know if
in truth we do have it? Even nonbelievers can show these qualities when the
circumstances are right. This fruit of the Spirit, which, according to
scripture, has nine manifestations, is not what we do, but what we are, and
basically those manifestations come to light when circumstances aren’t
favorable. Two characteristics help us to recognize these qualities in our own
life. Believers who bear fruit are not controlled by their environment.
Everyone
undergoes trial and suffering, but the one who has a fulness of the Spirit
doesn’t stop bearing fruit in adverse conditions. She maintains her joy even
when difficulties are overwhelming. If someone speaks harshly, the believer responds
with kindness, because the Holy Spirit has control, is free to produce its
fruit, no matter what the circumstances. Even though believers may feel pain,
anger, or a desire for revenge, they choose to believe that the Lord will
protect them and direct the results.
Believers
who bear fruit recover quickly after a fall. These believers are not perfect,
but they are very sensitive to how the Spirit redeems, and they are quick to
return to the Lord in repentance. Truly, they are happy for correction and give
praise to God, not only for the revelation of their weakness, but also for
having been brought back to obedience. No one produces these amazing qualities
alone. Striving to be good never works. Transformation of our character is
produced when we submit to God, giving God total control of our lives.
Prayer: Lord, help me to take control of my life, and to place you
in the center of it in such a way that it can change me into a believer who
bears good fruit. Amen.

GÁLATAS 5:16-26

Como creyentes, todos queremos tener el fruto del
Espíritu, pero ¿cómo podemos saber si en verdad lo tenemos? Incluso los no
creyentes pueden exhibir estas cualidades cuando las circunstancias son
positivas. Este fruto del Espíritu, que tiene según la Escritura nueve
manifestaciones, no es lo que hacemos, sino lo que somos; y básicamente salen a
la luz cuando las circunstancias no son favorables. Dos características nos
ayudan a reconocer estas cualidades en nuestra vida. Los creyentes que dan
fruto no son controlados por su entorno. Todos pasamos por pruebas y
sufrimientos, pero quien tiene la plenitud del Espíritu no pierde su fruto por
circunstancias adversas. Mantiene su gozo aun cuando las dificultades le
abrumen. Si alguien le habla con dureza, responde con amabilidad, porque el
Espíritu Santo tiene el control, es libre para producir su fruto, sin importar
cuáles sean las circunstancias. A pesar de que estos creyentes pueden sentir
dolor, enojo o deseo de venganza, optan por confiar en que el Señor les protegerá
y dirigirá el resultado.
Los creyentes que dan fruto se recuperan rápidamente
después de una caída. Estos creyentes no son perfectos, pero sí sensibles a
cómo redarguye el Espíritu, y se apresuran a volver al Señor en
arrepentimiento. En realidad, están agradecidos por la corrección y alaban a
Dios, no sólo por haberles revelado su debilidad, sino también por haberlos
traído de vuelta a la obediencia. Nadie produce estas asombrosas cualidades por
sí solo. El empeñarse en ser buenos nunca funcionará. La transformación del
carácter se produce cuando nos sometemos a Dios, dándole el control total de
nuestras vidas.
Oración: Señor, ayúdame a tomar control de mi vida, y a ponerte
en el centro de ella, de tal manera que pueda convertirme en creyente que dé
buenos frutos. Amén.
