THE CHAMELEON
2 Corinthians 11:13-15
“Not that there is another gospel,
but there are some who are confusing you
and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.”
Galatians 1:7
The chameleon is a rare animal. Its movements
are extraordinarily slow. It’s very fearful, and its means of defending itself
is that strange faculty it has of voluntarily changing its color to conceal itself.
Its skin is composed of cells of various pigmentations that it can retract or
expand and mix in such a way that it produces a range of colors according to
its surrounding landscape.
This camouflage allows it to go unnoticed by
both its enemies as well as its prey. What an excellent trick to capture the
imprudent insect that approaches! With a rapid movement of the tongue, and
without moving his body, the chameleon consumes its victim.
In the same way, the devil camouflages himself
in the world with seductive appearances, and is ready to trap people in his
snares. As it is known in human nature, there are different types of greed, and
it presents itself to each one under the most convenient guise. It
attracts the heart of its victims and seduces them, first by provoking doubt,
later disbelief, and then rebellion.
Be alert, and let us flee from this dangerous
enemy as soon as we perceive his tricks.
Prayer: Oh God,
only by your grace and with your hand protecting us will we be able to resist
temptation. Guide us.

CAMALEÓN
2 Corintios 11:13-15

El camaleón es un animal
muy raro. Sus movimientos son extremadamente lentos. Es muy miedoso, y su medio
de defenderse es esa extraña facultad que tiene de cambiar voluntariamente de
color para ocultarse. Su piel está compuesta por células de diversas
pigmentaciones que puede retractar o dilatar y mezclar, de modo que produce
toda una gama de colores según el paisaje que lo rodea.
Este camuflaje le permite
pasar desapercibido tanto para sus enemigos como para sus presas. ¡Excelente
truco para captar al imprudente insecto que se le acerca! Con un rápido movimiento
de la lengua, sin mover su cuerpo, el camaleón engulle a su víctima.
Así mismo, el diablo se camuflajea
en un mundo de aspectos seductores, y está listo para atrapar a la gente en sus
redes. Como sabe que en la naturaleza humana hay diferentes tipos de codicia,
se presenta a cada uno bajo el aspecto que más le conviene. Atrae el corazón de
sus presas y las seduce. Primero provoca la duda, luego la incredulidad y la
rebelión.
Estemos atentos, huyamos de
este peligroso enemigo tan pronto como percibamos su astucia.
Oración: Oh Dios, sólo por tu gracia y con tu mano
protegiéndonos seremos capaces de resistir la tentación. Guíanos.
