LIVE IN THE PRESENT
Matthew 6:25-34
“For everything there is a season”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
What feeds our thoughts? Regrets from the past?
Anxious expectation for the future? The secret fear that a misfortune would be able
to demolish our tranquility and our plans? The Lord strictly asks that we live
with Him in the present moment.
The book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that life is
effectively made up of diverse events that take place one after another, each
moment bringing its share of joy or sadness, work or rest. That’s the way life
is, and our groans and worries change nothing.
But the believer doesn’t dwell on this
verification which could easily generate fatalism. Indeed, he or she is in
contact with a living person who loves him, and whom everyone can recognize and
love right now.
God directs life’s circumstances. These change,
but He doesn’t. If all goes well with us, then appreciate what God gives us and
give him thanks. Are we worried? Trust in that God of love who is always here,
guiding everything.
Don’t live in yesterday or in tomorrow. Our
relationship with God isn’t a dream of what could have been or what may yet
happen, but rather a present, joyful and living relationship of trust.
Prayer: God of time,
free me from being prisoner of the past or the future.

VIVIR EL PRESENTE
Mateo 6:25-34
“Todo tiene su tiempo”
Eclesiastés 3:1
¿Qué alimenta nuestros pensamientos?
¿Los remordimientos del pasado? ¿La expectativa ansiosa del futuro? ¿El miedo
secreto de que una desgracia podría destruir nuestra tranquilidad y nuestros
proyectos? El Señor nos pide terminantemente que vivamos con Él en el momento
presente.
El libro del Eclesiastés
nos recuerda que la vida efectivamente está constituida de diversos
acontecimientos que se suceden unos a otros, trayendo a cada momento su parte
de alegría o tristeza, de trabajo o descanso. La vida es así, y nuestros
lamentos o inquietudes no pueden cambiar nada.
Pero el creyente no se
detiene en esta constatación que fácilmente podría generar el fatalismo. En
efecto, está en contacto con una persona viva que lo ama, y a quien cada uno
puede reconocer y amar desde ahora.
Dios dirige las
circunstancias de la vida. Estas cambian, pero Él no. Si nos va bien en todo,
apreciemos lo que Dios nos da y démosle las gracias. ¿Estamos preocupados?
Confiemos en ese Dios de amor que siempre está ahí, dirigiendo todo.
No vivamos en el ayer o en
el mañana. Nuestra relación con Dios no es un sueño de lo que habría podido ser
o de lo que podría suceder, sino una relación viva, de confianza alegre y
actual.
Oración: Señor del tiempo, líbrame de ser prisionero del
pasado o del futuro.
