IN GOD’S HANDS
MARK 4: 26-29
All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the
head, then the full kernel in the head. Mark 4:28
We don’t always have the patience or the farmer’s industriousness
to wait for the results of our actions. In this simple and profound parable
Jesus emphasizes the dependence we have on God, even in the natural world: It’s
by grace and mystery the seed becomes a tree. This parable also – and
especially in the verse we have cited above – invites us to recognize that in
life everything happens through processes. The mystery of a seed’s growth isn’t
magic; rather it’s the creator’s work. When we’re confronted with challenges in
our lives we should remember it’s God who puts things in their place; and
although he may be counting on us, the ultimate destination of our faith
journey is in his hands.
When we work, collaborate, or construct together with others, let’s
always do it with the conviction that we’re just providing a fraction of the
whole; the rest is in God’s hands. Besides that, we need to be trained to
faithfully wait for the results of our good works. God has given us virtues and
defenses for that.
How good it is to await the moment of harvest with every
confidence that God has accompanied the processes of reconstruction and
reconciliation in our lives. Although we can’t say for certain how God has
accomplished his work, let’s give the mystery of his ways a little trust to
later enjoy the abundance of the harvest, which is his kingdom.
Prayer: Gracious God, give us
trust and hope to be faithful laborers who cultivate your garden with love. Amen.

En manos de Dios
Marcos 4:26-29
Porque de suyo lleva fruto la tierra, primero hierba,
luego espiga, después grano lleno en la espiga

No siempre tenemos la paciencia y la laboriosidad de
un campesino para esperar los resultados de nuestras acciones. Jesús en esta
sencilla y profunda parábola enfatiza, en primer lugar, la dependencia que
tenemos de Dios hasta en la vida natural: es su gracia y misterio que la
semilla se hace árbol. También esta parábola, sobre todo en el verso que hemos
citado arriba, nos invita a reconocer que en la vida todo ocurre a través de
procesos. El misterio del crecimiento de una semilla, no es magia, sino obra
del creador. Cuando en nuestra vida nos enfrentamos a ciertos retos, debemos
recordar que es Dios quien pone las cosas en su lugar, y aunque él cuenta con
nosotros, el sentido último de nuestro camino de fe está en sus manos.
Cuando obremos, colaboremos, construyamos… junto a otros y otras, hagámoslo
siempre con la convicción de que aportamos sólo una parte de la obra, la otra
está en manos de Dios. Además, necesitamos estar capacitados y capacitadas para
esperar con fe el resultado de nuestras buenas obras. Para eso Dios nos ha
premiado con las virtudes y defensa.
Qué bueno es esperar el momento de la cosecha con toda la confianza en que
Dios ha acompañado a los procesos de reconstrucción y reconciliación en
nuestras vidas. Aunque no tengamos la total certeza de cómo Dios ha obrado,
démosle un grado de confianza al misterio de su obrar para luego gozarnos en la
plenitud de la cosecha, que es su reino.
Oración: Dios bueno, danos confianza y esperanza para ser
buenos labradores que cultivan tu huerto con amor. Amén.
