TO BE PREPARED

MATTHEW 24: 43-44

Remember therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it and repent.  But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you..

To be a guard is nothing nice, at times it becomes somewhat boring; but at the same time, it is a great responsibility, always there is a little voice that tells you to keep up the guard—and if something happens?  

Every morning I hear from my house the students of a primary school when they begin to repeat the motto “Always ready”.  What does this phrase mean?  I suppose that it is to always be prepared.  Jesus exhorts us to be prepared.  Prepared for what?  The sentence appears in the context of the announcement of the coming of the Son of Man and faithfulness in service.  And it is precisely the call of Jesus to the disciples with the announcement of his coming, more than something frightening, is the call to live a life of responsibility.  Responsibility for myself and also for others.  Responsibility towards us goes through the responsibility for our health and for our spiritual life.  We are a unity, although our life has different dimensions.  What is certain is that we have to be prepared for all.  

Prayer:  Good God, in this day I ask myself: how should I be better prepared?  Amen.

ESTAR PREPARADOS

MATEO 24: 43-44

Acuérdate, pues, de lo que has recibido y oído; guárdalo y arrepiéntete, pues si no vendré sobre ti como ladrón y no sabrás a qué hora vendré sobre ti.

Apocalipsis 3:3

Hacer guardia no es nada agradable, a veces se torna en algo aburrido; pero a la vez es una gran responsabilidad, siempre hay una vocecita que te dice deja ya la guardia; pero ¿y si pasa algo?

Cada mañana escucho desde mi casa a los alumnos de una escuela primaria cuando al comenzar el día repiten el lema “Siempre listos”, ¿Qué sentido tiene este lema? Se supone que es el de estar siempre preparados. Jesús nos exhorta a es-tar preparados. ¿Preparados para qué? La frase aparece en el contexto del anuncio de la venida del Hijo del hombre y la fidelidad en el servicio. Y es que precisamente el llamado que Jesús le hace a los discípulos con el anuncio de su venida, más que algo atemorizante es el llamado a vivir una vida de responsabilidad. Responsabilidad para conmigo y también para con los demás. La responsabilidad para con nosotros pasa por la responsabilidad con nuestra salud y con nuestra vida espiritual. Somos una unidad, aunque nuestra vida tenga diferentes dimensiones. Lo cierto es que tenemos que estar preparados para todo.

Oración: Dios bueno, en este día me pregunto ¿qué debo mejorar para estar preparado? Amén.
