THE CHURCH’S MISSION

Luke 9: 51-56

For the son of man has not come to lose men’s souls, but to save them.

The mission of our Christian church is what its name suggests, to follow the purpose of the life of Jesus Christ. He left us love, empathy and health of body and mind during all the time that he lived among us. He returned peace for hostility, good will for misunderstanding, and love for hate. All this, together with faith, is the meaning of the church’s mission. Another attitude is one of contempt or revenge, the same as that of the disciples who preferred to return fire to the hostile feelings of the Samaritans.

It is the same on the personal level, a life of faith demonstrated in concrete acts of love, service and  understanding. Sharing that is the essence of love. The worship of God is not complete if it remains within the walls of the Church. If we still don’t do it that way, today is a good day to begin our life as true Christians.

 

Prayer: Father, make us all instruments of peace and love. In the name of Jesus, amen.

MISIÓN DE LA IGLESIA.

Lucas 9: 51-56

Porque el hijo del hombre no ha venido para perder las almas de los hombres, sino para salvarlas. Lucas 9:56

La misión de nuestra iglesia cristiana es como su nombre lo dice, la que sigue el proyecto de vida de Jesucristo. Él nos dejó amor, empatia y sanidad de cuerpo y alma durante todo el tiempo que vivió entre nosotros. A la hostilidad devolvió paz; a la incomprensión buena voluntad; al odio amor. Todo esto unido a la fe, es el sentido de la misión de la iglesia. Otra actitud es de desprecio o venganza, es la misma que la de los discipulos que preferian fuego para los sentimientos hostiles de los Samaritanos.

En lo personal es igual, una vida de fe se demuestra en acciones concretas de amor, servicio y comprensión. En compartir está la esencia del amor. La adoración a Dios no está completa si se queda en las paredes del templo. Si aún no lo hacemos asi, hoy es un buen dia para comenzar nuestra vida de cristianos verdaderos.

 

Oración: Padre, haz de nosotras y nosotros instrumentos de paz y amor. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
