WE’RE WILLING, BUT UNWORTHY

Ephesians 2:8

If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land. (NIV)

Isaiah 1:19

            When we hear about the surprising things God promises to do for us it’s easy to be moved. But then I start to think that I could never be good enough to be that chosen person. Or if…? 

            God sees everything we do, since he knows who we are. He knows our ways, and when I look around I see other people who seem to be better than I. But when I consider history it’s in a certain sense amusing to see how God really never chose perfect people to use.

 

$          Rahab was a prostitute, and even so God chose her to save the Israelites and be the grandmother of King David; thereby she was in Jesus’ genealogy.

$          Peter sliced off a guard’s ear during Jesus’ arrest, and denied him three times. But God chose him to be the rock upon which the church would be built.

$          He chose Sarah to be the mother of Isaac, a woman who encouraged her husband to sleep with a servant and afterwards loathed the servant and the son she bore.

            The Lord has chosen many imperfect people to use because they were willing. Perhaps I don’t feel worthy of being chosen, but yes, I’m willing, willing to be used.

 

Prayer: Lord, choose me. Amen.

ESTAMOS DISPUESTOS, PERO NO SOMOS  DIGNOS

Efesios 2:8

Si queréis y obedecéis, comeréis lo mejor de la tierra

Isaías 1:19

            Cuando oímos de las cosas asombrosas que Dios promete hacer por nosotros, es fácil emocionarse; pero entonces comienzo a pensar que nunca podría ser lo suficientemente bueno para ser esa persona escogida. ¿O síí?

            Dios ve todo lo que hacemos, así que sabe quiénes somos. Sabe dónde metimos la pata. Y cuando miro alrededor veo otras personas que parecen ser mejores que yo. Pero cuando miro la historia, es en cierto modo divertido ver cómo Dios realmente nunca escogió a personas perfectas para usar.

$          Rahab era una prostituta, y aun así Dios la escogió para salvar a los israelitas y ser la bisabuela del Rey David, por tanto estuvo en la genealogía de Jesús.

$          Pedro cortó la oreja a un guardia durante el arresto de Jesús y lo negó tres veces. Pero Dios  lo escogió  para ser la roca sobre la cual se edificaría la Iglesia.

$          Escogió a Sara para ser la madre de Isaac, una mujer que alentó a su esposo a acostarse con una sirvienta y después aborreció a esa sirvienta y al hijo que ella tuvo.

El Señor ha escogido a muchas personas imperfectas para usarlas porque estaban dispuestas. Yo quizás no me sienta digno para ser escogido, pero sí estoy dispuesto, dispuesto para ser usado.

 

Oración: Señor, escógeme a mí. Amén.
