CONFESSION

PSALM 51

If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins

and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 

Christians should recognize the value of confession to God. Confession should be done as quickly as possible. I wash my hands every time they are not clean. Nothing works so much against happiness and personal well-being as sin which needs to be confessed and eliminated. Teresa of Avila, the great Spanish mystic, said that our soul is like a mirror in which God’s glory is reflected.  But our errors, no matter how insignificant, cover the mirror with fog.

The Christian who desires to live in uninterrupted communion with God needs to understand the importance of recognizing his errors and taking advantage of this unique opportunity to be transformed by divine grace. Jesus in his death on the cross offers this possibility. The Christian who loves his Lord and desires to please him, constantly examines not only his words and deeds but also his attitudes. Whatever may be contrary to God’s will ought to be confessed to the One who is faithful to cleanse and transform us.

Prayer: O God, my God, make me aware of all that is contrary to your Holy Spirit and do not allow me to shelter any sin without confessing it in my heart. In the name of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

SALMO 51

Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para que nos perdone nuestros pecados, y nos limpie de toda maldad

 

1 Juan 1:9 

El cristiano debe reconocer el valor de su confesión a Dios. La confesión debe ser hecha tan pronto sea posible. Yo me lavo las manos cada vez que siento que no están limpias.

Nada actúa tanto en contra de la felicidad y el bienestar personal como el pecado que debe ser confesado y eliminado. Teresa de Jesús, la gran mística española, decía que nuestra alma es como un espejo en el cual se refleja la gloria de Dios. Pero nuestros errores, no importa cuan insignificantes sean, cubren el espejo con niebla.

El cristiano que quiere vivir en comunión ininterrumpida con Dios, debe reconocer la importancia de reconocer sus errores y brindar esa oportunidad única para ser transformado por la gracia divina. Jesús con su muerte en la cruz nos brinda esa posibilidad  El cristiano que ama a su Señor, y desea complacerlo examina constantemente no solo sus palabras y acciones sino también sus actitudes. Cualquier cosa contraria a la voluntad de Dios debe ser confesada a aquel que es fiel para limpiarnos y transformarnos.

Oración: Oh Dios, hazme sensible a todo lo que es contrario a tu Santo Espíritu, y no permitas que albergue ningún pecado sin confesar en mi corazón. Por Jesucristo nuestro Señor. Amén
