IN JESUS WE HAVE REASSURANCE

I Thessalonians 4:13-18

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again...(NIV)

I Thessalonians 4: 14a

            From the beginning Jesus’ life was tied to the life of his people, to the people who saw him born, grow, serve, heal, teach, and declare the kingdom of God. The end of his life wasn’t a total surprise, since, if he fully assumed the task that God had given him of proclaiming freedom to prisoners and give sight to the blind and proclaim liberation, his life would not have had a different end than it did.           

            There are those who interpret his death as something that was written, and therefore had to happen; but if we believe that Jesus died and was resuscitated we also have to believe that his death wasn’t separated from his life, that it was a consequence of his life, and it is from there that we reinterpret other truths that the prophets announced. God's plan of salvation for mankind made sense when Jesus was willing to fully assume what it meant to be the Son of God.  

            Therefore, if we believe Jesus died and was resuscitated, we also believe that God, in his plan of love for humanity, has something prepared for us , and that that serves us as reassurance. 

 

Prayer: Thank you God for the life of Jesus, because with his love and his surrender it teaches us that even in death we can have the certainty of his comfort. Amen.

EN JESÚS TENEMOS CONSUELO

I Tesalonicenses 4:13-18

 

Así como creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó...

I Tesalonicenses  4: 14a

 

            La vida de Jesús estuvo desde el principio ligada a la vida de su pueblo, del pueblo que le vio nacer, crecer, servir, sanar, enseñar, y anunciar el reino de Dios.  El final de su vida no fue una total sorpresa, pues si asumía íntegramente la tarea que Dios le había dado de proclamar la libertad a los presos, y dar la vista a los ciegos, proclamar liberación, su vida no tendría un final diferente al que tuvo.

 

            Hay quienes interpretan su muerte como algo que estaba escrito y que así tenía que pasar, pero si creemos que Jesús murióó y resucitó, también tenemos que creer que su muerte no estuvo separada de su vida, que fue una consecuencia de su vida, y es a partir de ahí que reinterpretamos otras verdades que los profetas habían anunciado. El plan de Dios de salvación de la humanidad cobró sentido cuando Jesús estuvo dispuesto a asumir plenamente lo que significaba ser Hijo de Dios.

            Por eso, si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, también creamos que Dios en su plan de amor para la humanidad nos tiene algo preparado, y que eso nos servirá de consuelo.

 

 

Oración: Gracias Dios por la vida de Jesús, porque con su amor y su entrega nos enseña que, aun en la muerte, podemos tener la certeza de su consuelo. Amén.
