It is to love without reserve

Deuteronomy 6: 4-9

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength.  (NIV)

Deuteronomy 6:5

In ancient Israel, families, before going to sleep, recited the shema in Hebrew, “Hear, O Israel,” as indicated by tradition. It is still recited morning and evening by the most devout Jews. When we are in love with a person, every day we say “I love you” for several hours. We take care of that love. Jesus cites verse 4 of the shema as the most important commandment. He underscores its essence, and in his life he shows us how to love God without reservation and transmit his teachings: loving and doing with all our being, at all times, caring for the little ones, being sincere and authentic, caring for all of life, seeking the good of the community.

There will be things in our life that we sometimes say and repeat over and over again, and they remain only there, without action or occupation on our part. To love is to care, is to take care. To love God is expressed in word and deed, to love life, to love and to love.

 

Prayer: God of life, thank you for loving us first, help us to love you always, showing it in our daily actions. Amen.

Es amar sin reservas

Deuteronomio 6: 4-9

Ama al Señor tu  Dios  con todo tu corazón, con toda tu  alma y con todas tus fuerzas.

En el antiguo  Israel  las familias,  antes de irse a dormir,  recitaban el shema en hebreo “escucha  Israel”  como  lo indicaba la tradición. Aun es recitado mañana y tarde  por  los  judios  más  devotos.  Cuando  estamos  enamorados de una persona cada dia decimos “te amo”  a varias horas, hacemos y nos ocupamos por ese amor.  Jesús cita el verso 4 del shema como el mandamiento  más importante. Rescata la esencia, y en su vida nos  muestra cómo amar a  Dios  sin reservas y trasmitiendo  sus enseñanzas: amando y haciendo con todo nuestro  ser,  en todo tiempo, preocupándonos por los más  pequeños, siendo sinceros y auténticos, cuidado toda  vida, procurando el bien comunitario.

Habrán cosas en nuestra vida que a veces decimos y  repetimos una y otra vez y quedan solo ahi,  sin la  acción u ocupación por nuestra parte. Amar, es cuidar,  es ocuparse, amar a  Dios  se expresa en palabra y hechos,  amar la vida, amar y amar.

 

Oración:  Dios  de la vida, gracias por amarnos primero,  ayúdanos a amarte siempre, mostrándolo en nuestro  diario actuar. Amén.
