Anniversary of the church in Iguará

TRUE CONFIDENCE

HEBREWS 10:32-39

So, do not throw away your confidence,

it will be richly rewarded. (NIV)

Hebrews 10:35

Once there was a man who was passing through the forest and saw a fox that had lost its paws, and he asked himself: how could it survive?

Then he saw a tiger approach, holding prey in its mouth. The tiger was already satiated and left the rest of the meat for the fox. On the following day God fed the fox again by means of the same tiger. The man began to marvel about the immense goodness of God and said to himself, “I too am going to remain in a corner, totally trusting in the Lord, and this will give me as much as I need.”

So, he did this for many days, but nothing happened, and the man was nearly at death’s door when he heard a voice saying to him, “Oh you, who find yourself on the path of error, open your eyes to see the truth! Follow the example of the tiger and stop imitating the mutilated fox.” The attitude of the man makes us see the human tendency toward comfort, to seek to be the one served, rather than to be the server, to take refuge in the facile, and not to begin unknown journeys. That is a false trust in God.

The internal heartfelt trust in the living God should be the attitude of Christians in the world. It’s a true confidence that mobilizes us to live intensely, developing everything that we are capable of to place ourselves at the service of others.

 Prayer: Do not let us act, Father, thinking only of our own satisfaction; rather help us to serve others, giving the best of our lives. Amen.

CONFIANZA VERDADERA

HEBREOS 10:32-39

No pierdan pues, su confianza,

porque ella les traerá una gran recompensa

Una vez un hombre que, paseando por el bosque, vio un zorro que había perdido sus patas, por lo que el hombre se preguntó cómo podría sobrevivir.

Entonces vio llegar a un tigre que llevaba una presa en su boca. El tigre ya se había hartado y dejó el resto de la carne para el zorro. Al día siguiente, Dios volvió a alimentar al zorro por medio del mismo tigre. El hombre comenzó a maravillarse de la inmensa bondad de Dios y se dijo a sí mismo: “Voy también yo a quedarme en un rincón, confiando plenamente en el Señor y este me dará cuanto necesito”. Así lo hizo durante muchos días, pero no sucedía nada y el pobre hombre estaba casi a las puertas de la muerte, cuando oyó una voz que le decía: “¡Oh tú, que te hallas en la senda del error, abre tus ojos a la verdad! Sigue el ejemplo del tigre y deja ya de imitar al zorro mutilado”

La actitud del hombre de la fábula nos hace ver la tendencia humana a la comodidad, a buscar más el ser servido que el servir, a refugiarse en lo fácil, a no emprender caminos desconocidos. Eso es una falsa confianza en Dios.

La confianza interna de corazón en el Dios vivo debe ser la actitud de los cristianos en el mundo. Es una confianza verdadera que nos moviliza a vivir intensamente, desarrollando todo cuanto somos y podemos para ponernos al servicio de los demás.

Oración: No permitas Padre, que actuemos pensando solo en nuestra satisfacción; más bien, ayúdanos a servir a los demás dando lo mejor de vuestras vidas. Amén.
