DON’T FORGET
2 PETER 1:12-21
Therefore, I intend to keep on reminding you of
these things,
though you know them already and are established
in the truth that has come to you.
2 Peter 1:12
Among the audio-visuals most asked for in our
town are detective series, Cuban as well as foreign. A common denominator in
them is the witnesses’ declaration: How is it possible that people who have
witnessed the same event have different recollections of it? It’s because the human memory is fragile,
incomplete, malleable, and very subject to suggestion.
Time changes memories; in some cases people
can lightly alter their version of an event each time they tell it; but an
objective register based on the facts can correct the mental digression to
which we are all susceptible.
In his letters the Apostle Paul left us a
precise and enduring register of God’s truth: …I will always be ready to
remind you of these things, although you already know them and have been
established in the truth…and I will make every effort so that after my departure
you may be able at any time to recall these things. (2nd Peter
1: 12, 15).
Our fragile memories need constant refreshment
through the Word of God. In the entire Bible the objective of the Lord is to
stimulate our minds so we don’t forget his truth. The best way to accomplish
this is to read the Bible daily.
Prayer: Lord, today we pray for the
brothers of the Bible Commission of the Cuban Council of Churches. Help them in
their work. Amen.

No te olvides
...siempre estaré listo
para recordaros estas cosas, aunque
vosotros ya las sabéis y
habéis sido confirmados en la verdad.
2 Pedro 1:12
Uno de los audiovisuales más solicitados en nuestro
pueblo son los seriales policiacos, tanto cubanos como los foráneos. Algo común
en ellos es la declaración de los testigos. ¿Cómo es posible que personas que
han vivido un mismo acontecimiento tengan recuerdos diferentes? Y es que la
memoria humana es frágil, incompleta, moldeable y está muy sujeta a la sugestión.
Los recuerdos pueden cambiar con el tiempo. En algunos casos, la gente
puede alterar ligeramente su versión de un acontecimiento cada vez que lo
cuenta, pero un registro objetivo y basado en hechos puede corregir la
divagación mental a la que todos somos susceptibles.
El apóstol Pedro en sus cartas nos dejó un registro preciso y duradero de
la verdad de Dios: ... siempre estaré listo para recordaros estas cosas,
aunque vosotros ya las sabéis y habéis sido confirmados en la verdad... También
yo procuraré con diligencia, que en todo tiempo, después de mi partida, podáis
recordar estas cosas (2 Pedro 1:12,15).
Nuestras frágiles memorias necesitan un refrescamiento constante por medio
de la Palabra de Dios. En toda la Biblia, el propósito del Señor es incitar nuestra
mente para que no olvidemos su verdad. La
mejor manera de renovar nuestra mente es leyendo la Palabra de Dios
diariamente.
Oración: Señor, hoy te pedimos por los hermanos de la Comisión Bíblica del
Consejo de Iglesias de Cuba. Ayúdales en su trabajo. Amén.
