FAITH TO TAKE FLIGHT

1 JOHN 5:1-5

Who is it that overcomes the world?

 Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

1 John 5: 5

A king received two falcon chicks as a gift and gave them to the falcon master to train them. Months later the instructor informed him that one of them wasn’t moving, adding that he’d had to spoon-feed him where he perched immobile on a tree branch.

The king commanded that all manner of healers be sought, but no one could make the bird fly. Then he charged members of the court with the mission, but nothing happened. From his window the monarch saw the motionless bird, so he published a decree among his subjects soliciting help, and the following morning he saw the falcon flying agilely around the gardens.  

    

“Bring me the author of this miracle,” he said. And straight away they presented the responsible peasant. “How did you succeed in performing this miracle? Are you perhaps a magician?”

“It wasn’t difficult, Your Highness,” the little man explained. “I simply cut down the branch; the bird realized it had wings and took flight.” 

Likewise, we only need to have faith in order to take flight in our lives. Sometimes it’s just like with the falcon; we cling onto certain branches and end up dependent and fearful of taking flight. Then God cuts the branch, making us conscious that by having faith in Him, we learn how to fly.

Prayer:  Lord, give me strength every day to confront life; remove my fears and the ties that impede my getting up and walking with confidence. Amen.

FE PARA ALZAR EL VUELO

1 JUAN 5:1-5

¿Quién es el que vence al mundo ,

sino el que cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios?

1 Juan 5: 5

Un rey recibió como obsequio dos pichones de halcón y los entregó  al maestro de cetrería para que los entrenara. Meses después el instructor le comunicó que uno de los halcones no se movía y que incluso había que alcanzarle la comida hasta la rama de un árbol donde permanecía inmóvil.

El rey mandó a buscar sanadores de todo tipo, pero nadie pudo hacer volar al ave. Encargó entonces la misión a miembros de la corte, pero nada sucedió. Desde su ventana el monarca veía el ave inmóvil. Publicó entonces un decreto entre sus súbditos solicitando ayuda, y a la mañana siguiente vio al halcón volar ágilmente por los jardines. “Traedme al autor de ese milagro”- dijo. Enseguida le presentaron al campesino responsable: “¿Cómo lograste hacer ese milagro? ¿Eres mago, acaso? Explicó el hombrecito: “No fue difícil, Su Alteza: sólo corté la rama. El pájaro se dio cuenta de que tenía alas y se lanzó a volar.”

Asimismo, para emprender el vuelo en nuestras vidas solo necesitamos tener fe.

En ocasiones nos pasa como al halcón, nos aferramos a ciertas ramas y terminamos dependientes y temerosos de alzar el vuelo. Entonces Dios, nos corta la rama y nos hacemos conscientes de que con fe en él, aprendemos a volar.

Oración: Dame fuerzas cada día Señor, para enfrentar la vida, quita de mí los miedos y las ataduras que me impiden levantarme y andar con seguridad. Amén.
