Women’s Day
FEATURED WOMEN
LUKE 8: 1-3
. . .it is that very
Spirit bearing witness with our spirit
that we are children of God
Romans 8:16 (NRSV)
Holy Scripture presents beautiful examples of spiritual
women. Among them we have Mary at the feet of the Master, drinking in his words
and receiving from that divine fountain all that her soul yearned for and
needed. Her example shows us that it is not only by bread that we live but also
by the Word of God and that the first thing that we must seek is his Kingdom
and righteousness. In this way we will have without hesitation everything else
that we need.
We have another example of spirituality in Lydia, that
merchant of the city of Thyatira who felt the influence of divine love opening
her heart to the teachings of Paul, thus becoming a Christian champion. Her
spiritual influence was so great that she captured the hearts of all the
inhabitants of her home.
The Old Testament is not devoid of these inspiring examples;
among many we have Naomi who had so much influence on her daughter‑in‑law Ruth.
Without a doubt, many women today give such inspiring witnesses to faith. We
need to follow their example to stimulate and awaken the gift of God through
the practice of prayer and service. In this way, our lives also will be
fountains of inspiration for other people.
Prayer: Lord, we ask you
that we may be able to follow the example of these dedicated women. Amen.

la Mujer
MUJERES DESTACADAS
LUCAS 8: 1-3
El espíritu mismo da
testimonio a nuestro Espíritu,
de que somos hijos de
Dios.
Romanos 8:16
Hermoso ejemplo de
mujeres espirituales nos presenta las Sagradas Escrituras. Entre ellas tenemos
a María a los pies del Maestro, bebiendo sus palabras y recibiendo de aquella
fuente divina todo lo que su alma ansiaba y necesitaba. Su ejemplo nos
demuestra que no sólo de pan vive la humanidad, sino también de la palabra de
Dios y que lo primero que tenemos que buscar es su Reino y su justicia. Así
tendremos sin vacilación todo lo demás que necesitamos. Otro ejemplo de
espiritualidad lo tenemos en Lidia, aquella comerciante de la ciudad de Tiatira
que al sentir el influjo del amor divino abrió su corazón a las enseñanzas de
Pablo, llegando a ser un adalid cristiano. Su influencia espiritual fue tanta,
que llevó junto con el suyo los corazones de todos los moradores de su hogar.
El Antiguo Testamento no
está desprovisto de estos inspiradores ejemplos, entre muchas tenemos a Noemí
que tanta influencia ejerció en su nuera Ruth. Sin dudas, muchas mujeres de hoy
tienen estos inspiradores testimonios de fe. Necesitamos seguir su ejemplo para
avivar y despertar el don de Dios con la práctica de la oración y el servicio.
Así nuestras vidas también serán fuentes de inspiración para otras personas
Oración: Te pedimos Señor, que
podamos seguir el ejemplo de estas consagradas mujeres. Amén.
