DO WE LACK FAITH?
MARK 6:1-6
He was amazed at their
lack of faith.
Mark 6:6a (NIV)
We have seen that
without faith, a Christian is like a body without a backbone. Nobody can walk
without a backbone; they would be like a pile of bones covered with flesh that
can’t support itself. The same is true of faith. It’s the backbone of our life.
Jesus was amazed at his
disciples’ lack of faith. Yesterday he praised the faith of the centurion and
the woman with the bloody discharge. Why were things not going well in his chosen
ones? Often, we are the ones who don’t allow him to do good in our own lives
because we are obsessed with things of the world.
Therefore we must act
like the disciples and accept with faith what God requested of them, without seeking
signs or miracles to be convinced that God called them to follow him. Faith is
not attained from books or study, only in prayer, because it is a gift of God
and we must persist in asking for it.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust
that I will receive everything I ask for in prayer, trusting in you. Amen.

Hemos visto que
sin la fe, un cristiano es como un cuerpo sin su columna vertebral. Nadie puede
caminar si no tiene su columna, sino que parecerá como un montón de huesos
cubiertos con carne que no pueden sostenerse a sí mismos. Lo mismo pasa con la
fe. Ella es la columna vertebral de nuestra vida.
Jesús se ha
maravillado con sus compatriotas a causa de su falta de fe. Ayer alababa la fe
del centurión y de la hemorroisa. ¿Por qué en su propia casa no puede obrar el
bien? Muchas veces somos nosotros los que no le dejamos hacer el bien en
nuestras vidas, porque se lo impedimos a causa de nuestra obsesión por las
cosas del mundo.
Por eso tenemos
que actuar más como lo han hecho los mismos apóstoles que aceptaron con fe lo
que Dios les pedía, sin pedir señales
o milagros para quedar convencidos de
que efectivamente Dios los llamaba a seguirlo. La fe no se alcanza en los
libros o en el estudio, sino sólo en la oración, porque es un don de Dios y
para obtenerlo hay que pedirlo con insistencia.
Oración:
Señor, ayúdame a confiar en que todo lo que pida en oración, creyendo en
ti, lo recibiré. Amén.
