PRAYER AND RECONCILIATION

Luke 22: 39-46

“Why are you sleeping?” He asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” (NIV)

            Being in the home of some friends in Orlando, Florida, I observed a disagreeable encounter between my friend and his older daughter, the fruit of a first marriage, whom he had recently managed to get to travel to the U.S. at her insistence.

            The accusatory show before eating the food was for not having a last generation cell phone, which made her friends make fun of her in the classroom. Her father was furious, after reminding her of all the benefits she was enjoying for free. She left the table and locked herself in her room.

            God gave me wise words to speak to her, and she returned to the table, and I invited them to hold hands, and I raised a prayer. It was like a balm. On returning to Cuba the father sent me a message of thanks, for from this day on they began to pray together, and peace began to reign. Glory to God!

            In his book, The Great Message, pastor Daniel Izquierdo concludes chapter 9, dedicated to prayer and reconciliation, with a sentence not to forget: “reconciliation becomes a way of prayer.”

            “The effective prayer of the just can accomplish much,” it tells us in James 5:16. In order for it to be effective it has to constantly be permeated by the three motors of Christian action: faith, hope, and above all love, where justice, goodness, and humility rests.

 

Prayer: Gracious Father, give us the ability to never forget that in daily contact with you, you prepare us to face permanent reconciliation with our neighbor, our environment, and with ourselves amidst temptations. In Jesus’s name we implore. Amen.

ORACION Y RECONCILIACION

Y les dijo: ¿Por que duermen? Levántense y oren para que no caigan en tentación

            Estando en casa de unos amigos en Orlando, Florida, observé un desagradable encuentro entre mi amigo y su hija mayor, fruto de un primer matrimonio, a quien recientemente había logrado hacer viajar a EE.UU. a insistencia de ella. El show acusatorio antes de ingerir los alimentos fue por no tener un celular de ultima generación, lo cual hacía que sus amigas se burlaran de ella en el aula. El padre montó en cólera, después de recordarle todo los beneficios que ella estaba disfrutando gratis. Se retiró de la mesa y se encerró en su habitación. Dios me dio palabras sabias para hablarle, él regreso a la mesa, y los invité que se tomaran las manos y elevé una oración. Fue como un bálsamo. Al llegar a Cuba, el me envió un mensaje de agradecimiento pues desde ese día empezaron a orar juntos y la paz empezó a reinar. ¡Gloria a Dios!

            En su libro EL GRAN MENSAJE, el pastor Daniel Izquierdo concluye el capitulo 9 dedicado a la Oracion y la Reconciliación con una sentencia para no olvidar: reconciliación se convierte en un camino de oración.

            “La oración eficaz del justo puede mucho”, nos dice Santiago 5.16; para que sea eficaz tiene que estar permeada constantemente por los tres motores del accionar cristiano: fe, esperanza y sobre todo amor, donde descansan la justicia, la bondad y la humildad.  

 

Oración: Padre Eterno, danos la capacidad de jamás olvidar que en el contacto diario contigo nos preparas para enfrentar la permanente reconciliación con el prójimo, el entorno y con nosotros mismos en medio de tentaciones. En el nombre de Jesús te lo imploramos. Amén.
