LOVE ONESELF

Leviticus 19: 15-18

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

Leviticus 19:18

            Here is the second great commandment of God that Jesus Christ broadens into the concept of neighbor, going even as far as to including enemies. The dilemma comes when we look at ourselves in the mirror and do not love ourselves, be it because of our physique or low self-esteem, without considering that – as the teacher René Castellanos said – “we are an unrepeatable work in the universe, and indisputably of extreme value before God.”

            Big problems, such as alcoholism, depression, suicides, mental health in general, drugs, even physical illnesses often have to do with a negative mind. Being positive does not mean that we are immunized against problems, but getting up each day thanking God for a new dawn, plus loving ourselves to live the rest of the day accompanied by the Holy Spirit, empowers us to overcome obstacles with the tools on which we Christians count. When one loves himself, he is able to unfold multiple life projects for the benefit of others, because he is loaded with the only invincible weapon: love.

 

 Prayer: Omniscient Father, we give you infinite thanks for enjoying your immeasurable love that provides us with everything we need to carry out your work of service to others. In Christ we ask it of you. Amen.

AMARSE A UNO MISMO

Levitico 19: 15-18

No te vengarás, ni guardarás rencor a los hijos de tu pueblo, sino que amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo

Levítico 19:18

            Aquí esta el segundo gran mandamiento de Dios, Jesucristo amplí¡a el concepto de prójimo y alcanza hasta a los enemigos. El dilema radica cuando nos miramos ante el espejo y no nos amamos, sea por nuestro físico o baja autoestima, sin considerar que, como decía el maestro Rene Castellanos, somos una obra irrepetible en el universo, e indiscutiblemente de extremado valor ante Dios. Grandes problemas como alcoholismo, depresión, suicidios, salud mental en general, drogas, incluso enfermedades físicas, tienen que ver muchas veces con una mente negativa.

            Ser positivos no quiere decir que estemos inmunizados contra problemas, pero levantarnos cada día dándole gracias a Dios por un nuevo amanecer, más el amarnos a nosotros mismos para vivir el resto del día acompañados del Espíritu Santo, nos potencia a vencer obstáculos con las herramientas con que contamos los cristianos. Cuando uno se ama a si mismo es capaz de desplegar múltiples proyectos de vida para beneficio de los demás, pues está cargado con la única arma invencible: el amor.

 

Oración: Padre Omnisciente, te damos infinitas gracias por disfrutar de tu amor inmensurable que nos facilita todo lo que necesitamos para llevar a cabo tu obra de servicio a los demás. En Cristo te lo pedimos. Amén.
