LET US PLACE OUR CHAIRS

Mark 10: 35-45

And  they said to him, “Grant us to sit at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory”.

            James and John wanted to be seated in the glory of Jesus. This desire stemmed from  an ideal of a kingdom where those who sat closest to the sovereign enjoyed greater privilege.

            Many Christians think the same way.  They consider that to participate in the glory of Jesus is to permanently stay in their comfort zone. However, living with Jesus is the opposite. Jesus’ chair has no fixed place. He is anywhere, on the roadside where he is needed. If we want to be next to the Master, it is necessary to place our chairs there as well, at the margins next to those who suffer; permanently taking on service to them in the daily routine of our lives. The greatness of remaining in the glory of Jesus, by his side, consists in growing in dedication to others until the final consequences. This is the only and unique privilege.  As true believers, let us choose these places and do whatever it takes to deserve them. Let us place our chairs not where we think we will have greater privilege but where Jesus desires.

 

Prayer: Good God, let your glory reach us through service to our sisters and brothers. Amen

COLOQUEMOS NUESTRAS SILLAS

Marcos 10: 35-45

Ellos le respondieron: “Concédenos que nos sentemos en tu gloria, uno a tu derecha y otro a tu izquierda”

            Santiago y Juan deseaban estar sentados en la gloria de Jesús. Este deseo provenía de un ideal de reino donde quienes estaban sentados más cerca del soberano, gozaban de mayores privilegios.

            Muchos cristianos y cristianas piensan de igual manera, consideran que participar de la gloria de Jesús es permanecer en su zona de comodidad. Sin embargo, habitar junto a Jesús es todo lo contrario. La silla de Jesús no tiene lugar fijo, está en cualquier lugar, al borde del camino, donde le necesiten. Si queremos estar junto al Maestro, es preciso colocar nuestras sillas también allí, al margen, junto a las vicisitudes de quienes sufren; asumiendo permanentemente en lo cotidiano de nuestras vidas actitudes de servicio. La grandeza de permanecer en la gloria de Jesús, a su lado, consiste en crecerse en entrega a los demás hasta las últimas consecuencias. Este es el mayor y único privilegio. Como creyentes verdaderos optemos por estos lugares y hagamos todo lo necesario para merecerlos. Coloquemos nuestras sillas no donde nos parezca que tendremos mejores privilegios sino donde Jesús desea.

 

Oración: Buen Dios, permite que tu Gloria nos alcance mediante el servicio a nuestras hermanas y hermanos. Amén.
