THE LORD IS OUR SALVATION

Psalm 35: 1-18

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

Romans 12:19 (NRSV)

            Sometimes we are victims of injustices that hurt and create deep wounds, and we ask, “What’s going on?” Thoughts of vengeance come to our minds that torment and distort us. But, thanks be to God, we have the resource of prayer to tell us privately and sincerely what is happening to us; a humble spirit allows us to shed all bitterness and resentment during our conversation with Him. Finally, we will feel an indescribable peace which is a gift which only God can bestow on his children.

            The Apostle Paul commends to his brothers in Rome, “No, ‘if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Rom 12: 20-21)

            Let’s place all of our faith in God’s power. God, in his own time, will do what is right. according to his will.

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, teach us to forgive as you do and to act with justice in truth without seeking vengeance or holding a grudge, but always doing what is  good. Amen.

EL SEÑOR ES NUESTRA SALVACION

Salmo 35: 1-18

No os venguéis vosotros mismos, amados míos, sino dejad lugar a la ira de Dios; porque escrito esta: mía es la venganza, yo pagaré, dice el Señor.

Romanos 12:19

            En ocasiones somos víctimas de injusticias que lastiman y hacen heridas profundas, y nos preguntamos: ¿Qué hacer? A nuestras mentes acuden pensamientos de venganzas que nos atormentan y distorsionan. Pero gracias a Dios, contamos con el recurso de la oración para contarle de forma privada y sincera lo que nos sucede; un espíritu humilde permite despojarnos de toda amargura y rencor durante nuestra conversación con Él. Al final sentiremos una paz indescriptible, que es un don, que sólo Dios puede otorgarle a sus hijos.

            El apóstol Pablo recomendaba a los hermanos en Roma: Si tu enemigo tuviere hambre, dale de comer, si tuviere sed, dale de beber; pues haciendo esto, ascuas de fuego amontonarás sobre su cabeza. No seas vencido de lo malo, sino vence con el bien el mal (Rom 12: 20-21).

            Depositemos toda nuestra confianza en el poder de Dios. Él hará en su momento, lo justo, según su voluntad.

 

Oración: Padre amado, enséñanos a perdonar como tú lo haces y a actuar en justicia y en verdad sin buscar venganzas ni guardar rencor, sino obrando siempre el bien. Amén.
