THE SUPREMACY OF LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1Corinthians 13:4-7 (NRSV)

Without love the greatest manifestation of gifts and the most heroic of sacrifices mean nothing, love:

            Is long-suffering, being patient with people’s imperfections.

            Is benign, because it does good.

            Isn’t envious or possesive and competitive, but desires the best for others.

            Is not boastful nor ostentatious about itself.

Is not improper, doesn’t treat others arrogantly nor comport itself rudely but with courtesy and good manners.

            Does not look out for itself nor insist on its rights; is generous.

            Doesn’t get irritated; maintains composure.

            Does not hold a grudge, erases resentment.

            Does not rejoice at injustice, rejoices in truth.

            Endures everything to defend and sustain others.

            Thinks the best of others.

            Always hopes, does not get discouraged, believes in its future.

            Love endures all, persevering and remaining loyal to the end.

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, you who are patient in enabling us, teach us to love as you do; we ask it in the name of Jesus. Amen.

LA SUPREMACÍA DEL AMOR

1 Corintos 13:1-13

El amor es sufrido, es benigno, el amor no tiene envidia, el amor no es jactancioso, no se envanece; ...no se irrita, no guarda rencor, no se goza de la injusticia, mas se goza de la verdad. Todo lo sufre, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta.

1Corintios 13:4-7

Sin amor la mayor manifestación de dones y el más heroico de los sacrificios no significan nada, el amor:

Es sufrido, al ser pacientes con las imperfecciones de las personas.

Es benigno, porque hace bien.

No envidia, no es posesivo y competitivo, sino que desea lo mejor para los demás.

No es jactancioso, no hace ostentación de sí mismo.

No es indecoroso, no trata a otros con arrogancia, no se comporta con rudeza, sino con cortesía y buenas maneras.

No busca lo suyo, no insiste en sus derechos, es generoso.

No se irrita, mantiene la compostura.

No guarda rencor, borra el resentimiento.

No se goza de la injusticia, goza de la verdad.

Todo lo sufre, al defender y sostener a otros.

Cree lo mejor de los demás.

Todo lo espera, no se desanima, cree en su futuro.

El amor, todo lo soporta, al perseverar y permanecer leal hasta el final.

 

Oración: Padre amado, tú que eres paciente en capacitarnos, enséñanos amar como tú lo haces. Por Jesús te lo pedimos. Amén.
