SELF RELIANCE LEADS TO FAILURE

Joshua 7

And Joshua said, “Why have you brought this trouble upon us ?

            It is true that a disobedience had been committed, but it is also true that the possibilities of Ai’s men were not considered.

            As Christians we believe we have all the truth, all the reason, all the power. It is true that Christ can do everything through us, according to Paul in Philippians 4:13.  However,  in no way can this lead us to underestimate others, much less lead us to believe that everything we do is right. It is precisely because we are Christians that we ought not fear; that we must be humble  and think that there are other people who although they are in different positions, also have possibilities in the fight.

            Before undertaking any task, let us consider our relationship with God and what part He has in it. The only way to assure victory is to assure ourselves whose side God is on.

 

Prayer: Lord, keep us away from self-sufficiency. Let us be only sufficient in you. Amen

LA AUTOSUFICIENCIA CONDUCE AL FRACASO

JOSUE 7

Y le dijo Josué: ¿Por qué nos has turbado?...

Josué 7:25a

            Es cierto que se había cometido una desobediencia, pero también es cierto que no se tuvieron en cuenta las posibilidades de los hombres de Hai.

            Como cristianos nos creemos tener toda la verdad, toda la razón, todo el poder. Es cierto que Cristo todo lo puede en nosotros, segúún el decir de Pablo en Filipenses 4:13; pero en ninguna manera puede conducirnos a subestimar a los demás y mucho menos llevarnos a creer que todo lo que hacemos está bien. Precisamente por ser cristianos es que no debemos temer; debemos ser humildes y pensar que hay otras personas que, aunque se encuentren en otras posiciones, también tienen posibilidades en la lucha.

            Antes de acometer cualquier empresa, consideremos cuál es  nuestra relación  con Dios y que parte tiene Él en la misma. Lo único que puede asegurar la victoria es el asegurarnos de parte de quiéén esté Dios.

 

Oración: Aléjanos Señor, de la autosuficiencia. Que seamos suficientes solo en ti. Amén.
