THE SEEKING GOD

Psalms 139:1-12

Where can  I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from you presence?

            Yelena is a pious grandmother who wants to share with everyone the happy news of her grandson’s conversion. He used to be the town drunk, and his relatives thought he would end up in jail; but this boy read the Bible and soon began attending a local church. The gospel had changed him drastically. Yelena calls it a real miracle. Neighbors still can’t believe that Yelena’s grandson now opens his house to large groups of people, and not for a drink but for a Bible study! Grandmother and her Christian friends cannot fail to thank the Lord for the abrupt change in this young man’s life.

            In Psalm 139 we read about God’s search and knowledge. We are sure that his love goes beyond human circumstances. God knows our hearts perfectly and cares about our deepest need.  He sends his Holy Spirit to bring us salvation, even when we drift away or cross difficult and unfamiliar terrain. When we are hurt, when our situation looks bleak, when we are obsessed by dark and anxious thoughts, we must remember that we are not alone. Our loving and caring God is always close and can help.

 

Prayer: Father, we thank you for being a Seeking God. In your love for us, you found us and saved us in Christ. Now help us walk with you. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

EL DIOS BUSCADOR.

Salmos 139:1-12

¿A dóónde podría ir, lejos de tu espíritu? ¿A dónde huiría, lejos de tu presencia?

Sal. 139:7

            Yelena es una abuela piadosa que quiere compartir con todos la alegre noticia de la conversión de su nieto. Solía ser el borracho del pueblo, y sus familiares pensaban que terminaría en la cárcel; pero este muchacho leyó la Biblia y pronto empezó a asistir a una iglesia local. El evangelio lo había cambiado drásticamente. Yelena lo llama un verdadero milagro. Los vecinos todavíía no pueden creer que ahora el nieto de Yelena abre su casa a grandes grupos de personas, ¡y no por un trago sino por un estudio de la Biblia! La abuela y sus amigos cristianos no pueden dejar de dar gracias al Señor por el cambio abrupto en la vida de este joven.

            En el Salmos 139 leemos acerca de la búsqueda y el conocimiento de Dios. Estamos seguros de que su amor va más allá de las circunstancias humanas. Dios conoce nuestro corazón perfectamente y se preocupa por nuestras necesidades más profundas. Él envía su Espíritu Santo para traernos salvación, incluso cuando nos alejamos de él o atravesamos un terreno difíícil y desconocido. Cuando estamos heridos, cuando nuestra situación se ve sombríía, cuando estamos obsesionados por pensamientos oscuros y ansiosos, debemos recordar que no estamos solos. Nuestro Dios amoroso y afectuoso siempre está cerca y puede ayudar.

 

Oración: Padre, te agradecemos por ser un Dios buscador. En tu amor por nosotros, nos encontraste y nos salvaste en Cristo. Ahora ayúúdanos a caminar contigo. En nombre de Jesús, oramos. Amén.
