VOLUNTEERS FROM THE HEART

Exodus 35:21-29

Both men and women came forward.  Everyone who was eager to participate brought pins, earring, ring, and necklaces, all sorts of gold objects.  Everyone raised an uplifted offering of gold to the Lord.

They say that the church is made up of people of good will: some eager to work and some who expect others to work for them..

During the pilgrimage of the people of Israel through the desert, God gave instructions to Moses on how to build the tabernacle, and he supplied the people with treasures as an offering to the Lord; they were gold, silver, bronze, hyacinth, purple, crimson or fine linen, which they needed to furnish the Lord’s tabernacle.  With joy they came, in a very long procession, “every man whose heart was stirred, and all whose spirit was willing,” carrying their offerings. But they gave something more than their treasures—their own selves, their interest, their energies, and their enthusiasm. 

I hope that the ideal of serving will be awakened in us, and that the children of God not only bring their material things, but also our personal dedication for the establishment of the Kingdom. So we will realize the experience of rejoicing with a willing heart that serves the Lord, and at the end of our lives we will hear the words of welcome: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

 

Prayer: O, Lord, in your hands we commend the day of today.  Endow us with a heart that is humble and ready to serve you; make us diligent to investigate Your will and efficient to put it to enthusiastic work. In the name of Christ, we implore you.  Amen.

VOLUNTARIOS DE CORAZÓN

Éxodo 35:21-29

Y vinieron así  hombres como mujeres, todo voluntario de corazón.

Ex. 35:22

 

Se dice que la iglesia está formada por personas de buena voluntad: unos deseosos de trabajar y otros de que los demás trabajen.

 

Durante la peregrinación del pueblo de Israel por el desierto, Dios dio instrucciones a Moisés de cómo construir el tabernáculo, y este suplicó a su pueblo trajese de sus tesoros, como ofrenda al Señor, ya fuese oro, plata o bronce, jacinto, púrpura, carmesí o lino fino, cuanto se necesitase para edificar el tabernáculo del Señor. Con gozo vinieron, en procesión interminable, “todo varón a quien su corazón estimuló, y todo aquel a quién su espíritu le dio voluntad,” trayendo sus ofrendas. Pero dieron algo más que sus tesoros, su propio ser, su interés, sus energías y su entusiasmo.

 

Ojalá se despertase en nosotros también el ideal de servir, y que los hijos de Dios no solo aportasen sus bienes materiales, sino además su consagración personal al establecimiento del Reino. Así nos daríamos cuenta del regocijo que experimenta “el voluntario de corazón” que sirve al Señor y al final de nuestra carrera escucharíamos las palabras de bienvenida: “Bien, buen siervo y fiel”.

 

Oración: Oh Dios, en tus manos nos encomendamos en el día de hoy. Dótanos de corazón humilde y dispuesto a servirte; haznos diligentes en investigar Tu voluntad y eficientes en ponerla por obra con entusiasmo. En el nombre de Cristo te lo imploramos. Amén.
