RAYS OF JUSTICE

Malachi 3:16-4:3

But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings.

Malachi 4:2 (NRSV)

            This beautiful passage near the end of the book of Malachi is for those who felt condemned by their lack of respect for God and who wanted to recommit themselves to God. Justice would rise to shine on them like the rays of the sun, and in those rays they would find healing.

            We could reasonably ask what sort of healing Malachi had in mind. Malachi speaks again about the last days when the world will be purified as with fire. He had taught that no one would be saved from the refining fire of God (Mal 3:2-3). In other words, all are sinners. The difference is that all who live in humble repentance for the sin that alienates them from God will be forgiven. Those who don’t fear God will be consumed as by a fire that completely burns everything.

            We too have the chance to commit ourselves or to recommit ourselves to God. If we can accept and repent of our errors and imperfection, recognize the wounds we have caused to others and the distance that our sin has created between us and God, then God’s justice will rise over us like the sun.

 

Prayer: Dear Jesus, you rise from among the dead and make your justice shine on me. Accept my prayer and help me to commit my life to you. Amen.

RAYOS DE JUSTICIA.

Malaquías 3:16-4:3

Pero para ustedes que me honran, mi justicia brillará como la luz del sol, que en sus rayos trae salud.

Mal. 4:2

            Esta hermosa promesa, cerca del final del libro de Malaquías, era para aquellos que se sentían condenados por su falta de respeto a Dios y querían volver a comprometerse con él. La justicia se alzaría para brillar sobre ellos como los rayos del sol. Y en esos rayos encontrarí¡an sanidad.

            Podríamos preguntar razonablemente que clase de salud tenía Malaquías en mente. Malaquías habla nuevamente sobre los últimos días cuando el mundo será purificado como un fuego. Él había señalado que nadie estaba a salvo del fuego de refinación de Dios (Malaquías 3: 2-3). En otras palabras, todos somos pecadores. La diferencia es que aquellos que viven en humilde arrepentimiento por el pecado que la aleja de Dios, serán perdonados. Aquellos que no temen a Dios serán consumidos como en un fuego que quema todo completamente.

            Nosotros también tenemos la oportunidad de comprometernos o volver a comprometernos con Dios. Si podemos aceptar y arrepentirnos de nuestros errores e imperfección, reconocer las heridas que hemos causado a otros y la distancia que nuestro pecado ha creado entre nosotros y Dios, entonces la justicia de Dios también se elevará como el sol sobre nosotros.

 

Oración: Querido Jesús, tú resucitaste de entre los muertos e hiciste brillar tu justicia sobre mí. Acepta mi oración y ayúdame a comprometer mi vida a ti. Amén.
