THE ANT AS A TEACHER

Proverbs 6:6-11

Go to the ant, you lazy person; observe its ways and grow wise.

Prov. 6:6(CEB)

            A few years ago, the movie theaters showed another of those superhero movies, in this case a very little superhero, the size of an ant.  It was titled:  “The Ant Man,” and the plot was traditional: a scientist experimented to find a way to miniaturize a person to the size of an ant. And all of this in order to penetrate a scientific facility which was planning evil against human beings. 

            The Bible speaks of ants, using them as an example of industriousness and diligence. And the example that reaches us is that of a small insect capable of storing food during the summer for the winter. And the application for us is that we should not be lazy, but instead stay busy in all that we do with persistence in order to reach that which we want.  

            Jesus Christ lived three years of his life busy teaching, modeling his life as an example for your life.  He was serving to heal the sick, feed the hungry and be a light for all who look at his life and his actions.  He gave the prime example of service for those who believed in him when he offered his life to rescue many, as it is affirmed in the Scriptures.

 

Prayer: Lord, you have made us to be creative and hard-working, because our life here is much more than entertainment. There is a note of service to our neighbor that we should never forget.  Amen.

LA HORMIGA COMO MAESTRA

Proverbios 6:6-11

Ande a ver a la hormiga perezoso, fíjate en lo que hace, y aprende la lección.

Pr. 6:6

            Hace unos años se estrenó en los cines otra de aquellas películas de superhéroes, en este caso de una diminuta, como puede serlo la hormiga. Se tituló: el “hombre hormiga” y la trama era la tradicional: un científico que experimenta hasta lograr la miniaturización de una persona hasta el tamaño de una hormiga. Y todo ello, para penetrar un complejo científico donde se planeaba la maldad contra otros seres humanos.

            La Biblia habla de las hormigas para usarlas como ejemplo de industriosidad y diligencia. Y el ejemplo que nos llega del pequeño insecto es que es capaz de almacenar comida durante el verano para el invierno. Y la aplicación para nosotros es que no debemos holgazanear sino ocuparnos en todo lo que hacemos con persistencia para lograr lo que queremos.

            Jesucristo vivió tres años de su vida ocupado en enseñar, modelar su vida como ejemplo para los suyos y servir sanando a los enfermos, alimentando a los hambrientos y siendo luz para todos los que miraran su vida y sus hechos. El máximo ejemplo de servicio para los que creyeran en él lo dio cuando ofreció su vida en rescate por muchos, como lo afirman las Escrituras.

 

Oración: Señor, tú nos has hecho para ser creativos y laboriosos, porque nuestra vida aquí es mucho más que un entretenimiento. Hay una nota de servicio en nuestro prójimo que nunca debe de olvidarse. Amén.
