THE POWER OF PRAYER

Colossians 1:15-20

After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.

Later that night, he was there alone. (NIV)

Never underestimate the power of prayer. There are people who, when they feel disheartened and desperate, are wont to say, “There’s nothing further to be done except to pray.” The implication is that for them, this is their last resort, and it’s a weak one at that. Nothing could be further from the truth!

God created humanity with the ability to live with him. This is a surprising privilege, given that he is the eternal, immortal, and invisible King of the universe. This did not invalidate the glorious privilege, even when the human race was corrupted by the sin of disobedience. And when Jesus lived in our world as a man of flesh and bone, he always depended on prayer to his Father; he was very conscious of the need for the help he received.    

Persistent and sincere prayer will not only bless you, but also your family, friends, and church, including our country as well. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to assist us in praying in a more effective way. Let’s unite in this adventure in seeking God’s face in humility and repentance. Let's pray that God might restore our world.   

 

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for always having me before your gaze, and for taking care of me. Thank you for the infinite power that you gave us through prayer. Amen.

EL PODER DE LA ORACION

Colosenses 1:15-20

Despedida la multitud, subió al monte a orar aparte; y cuando llegó la noche, estaba allí solo.

Mateo 14:23

Nunca subestimes el poder de la oración. Hay personas que cuando se sienten desanimadas y desesperadas suelen decir: “No hay nada más que hacer, sino solo orar”. La implicación es que para ellos este es su último recurso y bastante déébil. ¡Nada podría estar más lejos de la verdad!

            Dios creó la humanidad con la capacidad de  vivir con Él. Puesto que Él es el Rey  eterno, inmortal e invisible del universo, este es un sorprendente privilegio. Aun cuando la raza humana se corrompió con el pecado de la desobediencia, esto no invalida ese glorioso privilegio. Y cuando vivió en nuestro  mundo como un hombre de carne y hueso, siempre dependió  de la oración a su Padre. Fue muy consciente de la necesidad de ayuda que tenía.

            La oración persistente y sincera te bendecirá no sólo a ti, sino también a tu familia, amigos, iglesia e incluso a nuestro país. Pidámosle al Espíritu Santo que nos ayude a orar de manera más eficaz. Unámonos en esta aventura de buscar el rostro de Dios en humildad y arrepentimiento. Roguemos a Dios para que restaure nuestra tierra.

 

Oración: Gracias Padre, por tenerme siempre ante tu mirada y por cuidar de mí. Gracias por el poder infinito que nos diste mediante la oración. Amén.
