HOLY FRIDAY

Hebrews 4,14-16

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we do have one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Hebrewas 4:15(NRSV)

             Jesus is the perfect High Priest. His mission is to bring to human beings the Word of God, and to introduce them into the divine presence. Jesus fully identified with humanity. He went through absolutely everything a man must go through, and he is like us in everything except that he passed all the trials without contaminating himself with sin.

            God shares and assumes human pain. God understands the human being. And there is no human experience about which God cannot say, “I have been there.” When we have something sad to tell, when life has cut us to the bone with its tears, we do not turn to a god who is unable to understand what has happened to us, but we turn to a God who has been there. Jesus knows our problems because He has gone through them; that’s why he understands us, helps, and forgives us.

            Jesus is the perfect High Priest because he is perfectly God and perfectly man. Because he has lived our lives, he can give us sympathy, mercy, and power. He brought God to humans, and He can bring humans to God.

 

Prayer: O Lord, thank you for your love for us, because no one can understand our humanity better than You. Let us always remember your sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Amen

VIERNES SANTO.

Hebreos 4,14-16

Pues no tenemos un Sumo Sacerdote que no pueda compadecerse de nuestras flaquezas, sino probado en todo igual que nosotros, excepto en el pecado.

Heb. 4:15

            Jesús es el Sumo Sacerdote perfecto. Su misión es traer al ser humano la Palabra de Dios, e introducirle en la presencia divina. Jesús se identificó totalmente con la humanidad. Él pasó por absolutamente todo lo que un hombre tenga que pasar, y es como nosotros en todo, excepto que superó todas las pruebas sin contaminarse de pecado.

            Dios comparte y asume el dolor humano. Dios comprende al ser humano. Y no hay ninguna experiencia humana de la que Dios no pueda decir: «Yo he estado allí.» Cuando tenemos algo muy triste que contar, cuando la vida nos ha calado hasta los huesos con sus lágrimas, no acudimos a un dios que es incapaz de comprender lo que nos ha sucedido, sino que acudimos a un Dios que ha estado allí. Jesús, conoce nuestros problemas porque ha pasado por ellos; por eso nos comprende, ayuda y perdona. 

            Jesús es el Sumo Sacerdote perfecto porque es perfectamente Dios y perfectamente hombre. Porque ha vivido nuestra vida puede darnos simpatía, misericordia y poder. Él trajo a Dios a los hombres, y puede llevar a los hombres a Dios.

 

Oración: Oh Señor, gracias por tu amor hacia nosotros; porque nadie puede comprender nuestra humanidad mejor que Tú. Permite que siempre podamos recordar tu sacrificio en la cruz por nuestros pecados. Amén.
