The New Man

Ephesians 4:17-24

To be made new in the attitude of your minds, and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (NIV)

Ephesians 4:23-24

            “What we are is the gift of God for us. In what we become is our gift to God.” (Eleanor Powell)

            The Apostle Paul compares the Christian life with someone who strips off a dirty garment, that is, a sinful past, and who needs to put on the immaculate garment of Christ’s righteousness. He is the “new man,” created according to God.

            Paul saw three terrible things: He saw human hearts so petrified that they no longer realized they were sinning; he saw people so dominated by sin that they had lost and forgotten shame and decency; he saw people so at the mercy of their desires that they no longer cared about others, who they could harm, and whose innocence they destroyed  in order to satisfy their desires.

            These are exactly the sins of the Christless world today, which can be seen invading life at any point. Every son and daughter of God must definitely break with that kind of life. We have to shed the old way of living and assume the new way of living, put aside our sins and assume the integrity and holiness that God can give us.

 

Prayer: Lord, and God of life, we are thankful for the salvation that you have given us; do not allow us to neglect such a great salvation. Amen.

EL NUEVO HOMBRE

Efesios 4:17-24

a renovar el espííritu de vuestra mente, y a revestiros del Hombre Nuevo, creado según Dios, en la justicia y santidad de la verdad.

Ef. 4:23-24

            “Lo que somos, es el regalo de Dios para nosotros. En lo que nos convertimos, es el regalo de nosotros para Dios” (Eleanor Powell).

            El Apóstol Pablo compara la vida cristiana con quien se despoja de una vestimenta sucia, o sea, de un pasado pecaminoso, y que necesita vestirse con la inmaculada vestimenta de la justicia de Cristo. Es el “nuevo hombre” creado según Dios. Pablo veía tres cosas terribles. Veía los corazones humanos tan petrificados que ya ni se daban cuenta de que estaban pecando; veía a las personas tan dominadas por el pecado que habían perdido y olvidado la vergüenza y la decencia; veía a las personas tan a merced de sus deseos que ya no les importaban los demás, a los que pudieran perjudicar y cuya inocencia destruían con tal de satisfacer sus deseos.

            Estos son exactamente los pecados del mundo sin Cristo hoy en día, que se pueden ver invadiendo la vida en cualquier punto. Todo hijo e hija de Dios debe romper definitivamente con esa clase de vida. Hemos de despojarnos de la vieja manera de vivir y asumir la nueva manera de vivir; dejar a un lado nuestros pecados y asumir la integridad y la santidad que Dios nos puede dar.

 

Oración: Señor y Dios de la vida; estamos agradecidos por la salvación que nos has regalado, no permitas que nosotros descuidemos una salvación tan grande. Amén.
