HUMBLE IN EVERY SITUATION

John 13: 1-15

So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

John 13:14 (NRSV)

            When we think about what Jesus might have come to be and what He might have come to do, we should better realize the wonder of what He was and what He did.

            Jesus knew that He held everything in His hands. He knew that the hour of His humiliation was near, but He also knew that His hour of exaltation was near. Such knowledge could have filled Him with pride and yet knowing that power and glory were His, He washed the feet of His disciples. In the moment when He could have felt supreme pride, He sets an example of supreme humility. That’s the way love always is. When someone becomes ill, the person who loves him will give the humblest services to Him and delight in him or her. Some people think they’re too important to do humble things. Jesus wasn’t like that. He knew He was the Lord of everything, and He washed His disciples’ feet.

            Jesus’ attitude is a sign of love in service, of personal sacrifice. The person who is willing to serve will be fully blessed.

 

Prayer:  Thank you Lord for being an example of humility, love, and sacrifice to us. Oh God, let our lives be always willing to serve and not to be served. Amen.

HUMILDES ANTE TODA SITUACIÓN.

Juan 13: 1-15

Pues si yo, el Señor y el Maestro, os he lavado los pies, vosotros también debééis lavaros los pies unos a otros.

Jn 13:14

            Cuando pensamos en lo que Jesús podría haber llegado ser y en lo que podría haber llegado a hacer, nos damos cuenta mejor de la maravilla de lo que fue y de lo que hizo. 

            Jesús sabía que tenía todo en Sus manos. Sabía que estaba cerca la hora de Su humillación, pero tambiéén sabía que Su hora de exaltación estaba cerca. Tal conocimiento podría haberle llenado de orgullo y, sin embargo, sabiendo que el poder y la gloria eran Suyos, lavó los pies de Sus discípulos. En el momento en que podía haber sentido un orgullo supremo, dio ejemplo de la suprema humildad. Así es siempre el amor. Cuando alguien se pone enfermo, la persona que le ama le prestará los servicios más humildes, y se deleitará haciééndolo. Algunas personas se creen demasiado importantes para hacer cosas humildes. Jesús no era así. Sabía que era el Señor de todo, y les lavó los pies a Sus discípulos.

            La actitud de Jesús es una muestra de amor en servicio, de sacrificio personal. La persona que está dispuesta a servir será totalmente bendecida.

 

Oración: Gracias Señor por ser ejemplo para nosotros de humildad, amor y sacrificio. Permite oh Dios que nuestras vidas estén siempre dispuestas a servir y no a ser servidos, Amén.
