Anniversary of JUPRECU

ATTACHMENT TO MATERIAL THINGS

Mark 10:17-31

Because the root of all evil is the love of money. (NIV)

1Timothy 6:10

                        Christianity is about doing something for others. This is where the biblical character and so many others have failed Jesus.

            The young man was rich, he had many possessions, and it never occurred to him that he had to share his goods. He had fulfilled all the commandments, he enjoyed a certain moral respectability, which is openly censored by Jesus because goodness does not consist in not doing certain things, but of giving of ourselves and the things we have as a sign of generosity to others.

            We must recognize that we are not always willing to give up on what is ours. We want to be Christians, yes! But not to the point of sacrifice and dedication to others. We are not willing to pay the price that the Lord demands of us, but we like a more comfortable life without challenges. Man’s heart can easily become attached to material possessions, and it causes him to think too much in terms of price. Antonio Machado said, “Only a fool confuses value and price.” Having material property is a responsibility that we have before the Lord. We will be judged on how we obtained and use the wealth.

 

Prayer: Lord Jesus, do not let material things divert us from the path that leads us to you. Use our wealth for the good of your work. Amen.

Aniversario de la JUPRECU

APEGO A LAS COSAS MATERIALES

Marcos 10:17-31

Porque la raííz de todos los males es el afán de dinero.

1Ti. 6:10

            El cristianismo consiste en hacer algo por los demás. Es aquí donde el personaje bíblico y tantos otros les hemos fallado a Jesús. El joven era rico; tenía muchas posesiones y nunca le pasóó por la cabeza que tuviera que dar sus bienes. Él había cumplido con todos los mandamientos, gozaba de cierta respetabilidad moral, la cual es censurada por Jesús abiertamente; porque la bondad no consiste en no hacer ciertas cosas, sino entregarnos nosotros y las cosas que tenemos como una muestra de generosidad a los demás.

            Debemos reconocer que no siempre estamos dispuestos a renunciar a lo nuestro. Queremos ser cristianos, ¡sí!, pero no hasta ese punto del sacrificio y entrega por los demáás. No estamos dispuestos a pagar el precio que el Señor demanda de nosotros, sino que nos gusta más una vida có¢moda, sin retos ni desafíos. El corazón del hombre se apega fácilmente a las posesiones materiales y hace que piense demasiado en términos de precio. Antonio Machado dijo: “Solo un necio confunde valor y precio”. Tener prosperidad material es una responsabilidad que tenemos delante del Señor. Seremos juzgados acerca de cómo obtuvimos y como usamos las riquezas.

 

Oración: Señor Jesús, no permitas que las cosas materiales nos desvíen del camino que nos lleva a Ti. Usa nuestras riquezas para el bienestar de tu obra. Amén.
