SHINE IN THE PLACE WHERE YOU ARE

Matthew 5:14-16.

Let your life shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (NIV)

Matthew 5:16

            The word “light” has a special meaning for the Jews. It refers to light in both a literal manner as well as symbolic. A proper lifestyle is characterized by walking in the light of God.

            Our testimony may, or may not, transform the world. Verbal testimony has to be consistent with our attitudes. This is what we call the theory and practice of Christian witness. The doing as a consequence of being. Many people emphasize being so much so that they never reach the goal of doing something. The church cannot live with duplicity and hypocrisy. Its focus must be directed to work for a good testimony that produces personal and communal well-being, because otherwise we will be accountable to God.

            Testimony for Christians must have a transcendental value in relation to God, others and ourselves. We have to be light in every place, moment, or situation in which we find ourselves, because as Bruce said, “ Humanity desperately needs the many flashes of light we shed on it.”

 

Prayer: Jesus, may I always illuminate the way of others. That my testimony may never be harsh and discouraging, but have credibility, and its purpose is to glorify you and to reach souls for you. Amen.

“BRILLA EN EL SITIO DONDE ESTÉS”

Mateo 5:14-16.

Brille así vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras buenas obras y glorifiquen a vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.

Mt. 5:16

            La palabra luz tiene un significado especial para los judíos. La misma se refiere a la luz tanto de una manera literal como simbólica. Un estilo de vida apropiado se caracteriza por caminar en la luz de Dios.

            El testimonio nuestro puede o no transformar al mundo. El testimonio verbal tiene que estar en congruencia con nuestras actitudes. Es lo que llamamos la teoría y práctica del testimonio cristiano. El hacer como consecuencia del ser. Muchas personas enfatizan tanto el ser que nunca llegan a la meta de hacer algo. La Iglesia no puede vivir con dobleces e hipocresías. Su enfoque debe estar dirigido a trabajar por un buen testimonio que produzca bienestar personal y comunitario, porque de lo contrario hemos de rendir cuentas a Dios.

            El testimonio para los cristianos ha de tener un valor transcendental en relación con Dios, los demás y con nosotros mismos. Hemos de ser luz en todo lugar, momento o situación en que nos encontremos porque, como dijera Bruce: "La humanidad necesita desesperadamente cuantos destellos de luz derramemos sobre ella".

 

Oración: Jesús permíteme iluminar siempre el camino de los demás. Que mi testimonio nunca sea áspero ni ahuyentador, sino que tenga credibilidad y que el propósito sea glorificarte y alcanzar almas para Ti. Amén.
