RELEASE THE GLASS

1 Peter 5: 6-11

Cast all your anxiety on him he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7(NRSV)

At a seminar, a professor took a glass of water and raised it in front of everyone.  No doubt, the public expected the typical question: “Is the glass full or empty?” However, this was not the case. The professor simply asked, “How much does this glass weigh?”  Most responses ranged from 200 to 500 grams. However, the professor told them, “The weight itself is not what matters. It really depends on how long you hold the raised glass. Holding it for a minute, there will be no problem. If I do it for an hour, my arm will start to hurt. If I hold it a day, my arm will become numb and paralyze.   The weight of the glass does not change at any time, but the longer I keep it raised, the heavier and harder to bear it becomes.

The worries and problems we have in life are like a glass of water. If you take a minute to think about them, nothing will happen. If you do it longer it will start to hurt. If you spend your whole day thinking about them, you will end up paralyzed, with no way to find solutions and unable to do anything.

Trust God and leave all your burdens with him. He will always respond.

Prayer: Lord, help me be aware of those who are anxious, needy or in trouble. .Help me to give them your comfort with my words and my actions.

SUELTA EL VASO

1 Pedro 5: 6-11

CELEBRATION of the DEPENDENT CHURCH of CANIP

THANK YOU, LORD

2 Chronicles 7: 8-11

…he sent the people away, joyful and in good spirits because of the goodness that the Lord had shown to David  and to Solomon and to his people Israel.

2 Chronicles 7:10

Looking at this passage, begs the question: after a hard day of work, do you come home happy because of all the good things God gave you?  The Lord gave you a family to love, work to maintain, communion with the brothers and sisters of your church, salvation in Christ Jesus, pardon from your sins, life everlasting, …the list of blessings is endless!

It is normal for you to feel tired and even discouraged after a difficult day. But then you must remember that God never changes. It was God who created everything and is the one who gives us all the good and the perfect. Also, he wanted us to be his children. So, amid the good news of salvation, he gave us a new life. (James  1:17-18)

When discouragement, tiredness, or pessimism want to keep you company, remember all the good that the Lord has given you and that your reserve of blessings is inexhaustible. The heart of God is happy with the gratitude of his children.

Prayer: Father, today I want to thank you for all the good things you have done in my life. Without your favor, I would not be where I am. I trust you.

WHAT WILL I ASK FROM GOD TODAY?

2 Chronicles 1:9-10

That night, God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”

2 Chronicles 1:7 (NIV)

Can you imagine what your reaction would be if God asked you this today? What would you ask? Riches, good health, honors, the death of your enemies, long life?

This was Solomon’s response to God: “Give me wisdom and intelligence so that I can rule a people as great as yours! Because without your help no one can do it.”

Solomon's request pleased God, who in addition to granting him his wish, made him the richest, most powerful, and most famous king that ever existed.

Our God asks the same question of his children today: What do you want to ask of me? In Matthew 7:7-11 we are motivated to  pray asking what we need from the Lord, our Father. In James 4:1-3, we discover why many times, we are not granted what we ask for. So, these two biblical texts offer us proper guidance on how we should ask God.

Faced with this question that the Lord asks you and, thinking of the texts mentioned, what will you ask of God today?

Prayer: Lord, I don’t want to ask anything of you. I only want to thank you for all that you have given me. We are so blessed by you! Amen .

GOD DOES NOT GIVE UP ON US

Joshua 2:9-11

When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below.

Joshua 2:11 (NIV)

The Israelites were eager to enter the promised land. After the death of Moses, Joshua was the leader of the people. Before the final battle, before assuming God’s promise, he appointed two men to spy on the land that would be conquered. While there, the men hid in the house of a prostitute. Rahab confessed that both she and all the inhabitants of the city were very afraid of the people of Israel. That people knew the miracles and wonders that God had performed to preserve and protect the Israelites and recognized that such power could never be overcome. Then, the eyes of these men [the spies] opened to the idea that the Lord was at their side and that there was no reason to fear.

Consequently, when God is by our side, we do not have  to be afraid. If what we do is in accordance with the will of the Lord, other people should fear because our Father is almighty. He does not leave his children helpless.  So, when you are afraid remember this: God is and will always be by our side. No matter when, or how or what happens, He will never abandon us. Even if you have given up on yourself, in fighting situations, circumstance and problems, He will not give up.  God is ready to shelter and strengthen us so that we can overcome fear.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, I beg that you emphasize this with me. Increase my faith. I look for you every day.  Send your Holy Spirit, blow your breath of love on me. Amen.

THERE IS HOPE FOR OVERCOMING GUILT

2 Samuel  24:14

For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.

Hebrews 8:12 (NIV)

Guilt is a pretty painful feeling. David was feeling guilty when he decided to make a count of the Israelite people, displeasing God.

If you feel guilty you need to know that there is hope that you can overcome your guilt. God loves us unconditionally. He loved us in such a way that he gave up his Son  to pay the price of our guilt. It is Christ who delivers us from all sin, who justifies us before God.

Every time we sin, we sadden God. Perhaps that is the greatest incentive to avoid sin. So that we do not turn away from God we need to admit our mistake. We need to confess it, believe that Christ paid the price for our sins, and forsake the error. From that moment on, we receive forgiveness and are relieved of the weight of our guilt. God can forgive even the gravest of our sins when we repent and sincerely prepare not to commit it anymore.

So how should we react to God's mercy?  By also forgetting the sin that we confess and of which we repent, being grateful and rejoicing for the grace of the Father, who offers us an eternal life at his side.

Prayer: I praise you O Lord, with all my being. I love you and wish to enjoy your love with other people. Take sin from my life and give me your mercy. Amen.

HAY ESPERANZA PARA VENCER LA CULPA

2 Samuel  24:14
