Thanksgiving Day

WITNESSING THE LIGHT FOR THE NEW YEAR

John 1: 1 - 18

He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

John 1.8 (NIV)

One year ends and a new one begins. It is time to look back and review how the past few months have been going. But it is also a time to look forward and make plans, promises and set for ourselves new challenges and resolutions.

And with all the good intentions that we can set for this 2025, one that many parents are sure to make is to continue doing everything necessary to make their children happy, to educate them better and to make them autonomous, responsible and integral people, with strong individual and social values, with a love and commitment to God and his church.

The evangelist places Jesus as the light that shone in the darkness and brought God closer to the displaced of this world. He took Jesus out of the most holy place, placed him outside the temple, next to the most needy and impoverished. That light shone to rescue us from oblivion and insensitivity.

Prayer: Eternal loving God, we ask you to allow us to live according to your will and to honor the commitment to be witnesses to your son, the light of the world who dispelled the darkness. For his sake, we ask you. Amen.

Día de Acción de Gracias

SER TESTIGOS DE LA LUZ PARA EL NUEVO AÑO

Juan 1: 1 - 18

No era él la luz, sino testigo de la luz.

Juan 1.8

Acaba un año y empieza otro nuevo. Es tiempo de mirar atrás y hacer repaso de cómo nos ha ido en los últimos meses; pero también de mirar hacia adelante y hacer planes, promesas y plantearnos nuevos retos y propósitos.

Y entre todas las buenas intenciones que nos podamos plantear para este 2025, una que seguro se plantarán muchos padres y madres es seguir haciendo todo lo necesario para que hijos e hijas sean felices, para educarles mejor y conseguir que sean personas autónomas, responsables e íntegras, con fuertes valores individuales y sociales, con un amor y compromiso con Dios y su iglesia.

El evangelista nos coloca a Jesús como la luz que brilló en las tinieblas y acercó a Dios a los desplazados de este mundo, lo sacó del lugar santísimo, lo colocó fuera del templo, al lado de los más necesitados y empobrecidos. Esa luz brilló para rescatarnos del olvido y la insensibilidad.

Oración: Eterno Dios amoroso, te pedimos nos permitas vivir según tu voluntad y honrar el compromiso de ser testigos de tú hijo luz del mundo que disipó las tinieblas, por él mismo te lo pedimos. Amén.

LET US SING WITH JOY

Psalm 96: 7 – 13

Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” The world is firmly established (…) Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;…

Psalm 96:10a, 11ª (NIV)

Collective praise to God is a profound and multifaceted expression of our spirituality. It reflects not only our gratitude for blessings received, but also a recognition of divine greatness, wisdom and love. Praising God allows us to connect with the sacred, find comfort in difficult moments and to celebrate the beauty of life.

In the community, worship becomes a collective act that strengthens the bonds between people, creating a sense of belonging and unity. Worship and year-end festivities are intertwined through gratitude, community and hope, creating a space to reflect on the past and welcome what is to come. Let us allow the glory of God to envelop us at this time and lift up songs with joy in His honor.

Prayer: God of praise and joy, may your deep love continue to allow us to praise and worship you, and may your glory flood us to continue reaffirming our faith and to celebrate in community. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

CANTEMOS CON ALEGRÍA

Salmo 95: 7 – 13

Decid a las naciones: ¡El Señor es rey! Él afirmó el mundo (…) ¡Alégrense los cielos y la tierra¡ (…)

La alabanza colectiva hacia Dios es una expresión profunda y multifacética de nuestra espiritualidad. Refleja no solo nuestra gratitud por las bendiciones recibidas, sino también un reconocimiento de la grandeza, la sabiduría y el amor divinos. Alabar a Dios nos permite conectar con lo sagrado, encontrar consuelo en momentos difíciles y celebrar la belleza de la vida.

En la comunidad, la alabanza se convierte en un acto colectivo que fortalece los lazos entre las personas, creando un sentido de pertenencia y unidad.

Las alabanzas y las fiestas de fin de año se entrelazan a través de la gratitud, la comunidad y la esperanza, creando un espacio para reflexionar sobre el pasado y dar la bienvenida a lo que está por venir. Dejemos que en este tiempo la gloria de Dios nos envuelva y levantemos cantos con alegría en su honor.

Oración: Dios de la alabanza y de la alegría, que tu amor profundo nos siga permitiendo alabarte y adorarte, y que tu gloria nos inunde para seguir reafirmando nuestra fe y celebrar en comunidad. Te lo pedimos por Jesucristo nuestro señor. Amén.

THE FAMILY IN CARING FOR THE INTEGRAL GROWTH OF CHILDREN

Luke 2: 41 - 52

But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

Luke 2:51a – 52 (NIV)

In the text of Luke’s gospel, Jesus’ family is fulfilling the participation in the Passover feast in Jerusalem. Mary and Joseph nurture in their growing son the Jewish teachings and the fulfillment of the festivities according to tradition. They do not realize what is happening when Jesus, who has been fascinated with all that has happened, separates from the group and stays in the city in debates and conversation with the teachers of the law, among other people. Their concern grows at not seeing him among the rest of the family and friends. They decide to go back and look for him everywhere. His mother is shocked to receive her son’s answer, after finding him debating in the temple.

Mary and Joseph’s care for their son Jesus represents the family’s responsibility for the children. The example of Jesus’ family who accompanied him with responsibility is present in this text.

Prayer: In our daily actions as a family, dear God, may we reflect your love and teachings. Amen.

LA Familia EN EL CUIDADO DEL CRECIMIENTO INTEGRAL DE LOS/AS NIÑOS/AS

Lucas 2: 41 - 52

Su madre guardaba todo esto en el corazón. Y Jesús seguía creciendo en sabiduría, en estatura y en gracia ante Dios y ante los hombres.

Lucas 2:51a – 52

En el texto del evangelio de Lucas, la familia de Jesús está cumpliendo con la participación en la fiesta de la Pascua en Jerusalén. María y José alimentan en el hijo que va creciendo las enseñanzas judías y el cumplimiento con las festividades según la tradición. No se percatan de lo que está sucediendo, Jesús ha quedado fascinado con todo lo vivido, separándose del grupo y quedándose en la ciudad en debates y conversaciones con los maestros de la ley, entre otras personas; crece la preocupación al no verlo entre el resto de la familia y amigos. Deciden regresar a buscarle por todos los lugares, su madre queda impactada y recibir la respuesta de su hijo, luego de encontrarlo debatiendo en el templo.

En el cuidado de María y José por su hijo Jesús está representada la responsabilidad familiar por los niños/as, por su crecimiento integral y su desarrollo. En cada familia que cuida el crecimiento integral de los/as niños/as está presente el ejemplo de la familia de Jesús que lo acompañó con responsabilidad.

Oración: Que, en nuestras acciones cotidianas como familia, querido Dios, reflejemos tu amor y enseñanzas. Amén.
