508^th Anniversary

Luke 14:1-6

Then he asked them, “If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?”

Today we are celebrating the day of the Protestant Reformation throughout the world. Beyond being a historical event, the Reformation is proof of a church that seeks to renew itself in order to come closer to God’s ethical proposal. It is a church that challenges dogmas and prejudices in order to work for the good of those most in need, who are favored by God.

The experience of the Reformation should encourage us to reflect on our own faith, our personal relationship with God, and above all, the way in which we act based on our faith. Our churches should celebrate this day by opening their doors, breaking down walls, bringing spiritual healing to those in need, seeking the best way to serve, and feeling that we are “reforming” ourselves to bring God closer to those who do not yet know Him. So let us not worry if we break the mold, if it is for the good, to support, help, and restore dignity and fulfillment to those around us, that we may always be reforming our faith, our actions, our witness, and our lives.

Prayer: Lord, allow me to always reform myself and grow spiritually in favor of justice and peace, filling my life with works of love. Amen.

Lucas 14:1-6

También les dijo: -Si uno de ustedes tiene un hijo o un buey que se le cae en un pozo, ¿no lo saca enseguida, aunque sea sábado?

Lucas 14:5

Hoy estamos celebrando en el mundo entero, el día de la reforma protestante, más allá de un hecho histórico, la Reforma es la constancia de una iglesia que se piensa en ser renueva para acercarse más a la propuesta ética de Dios. Una iglesia que desafía dogmas y prejuicios para obrar en bien de los más necesitados, quienes son los favorecidos de Dios.

La experiencia de la reforma debe ser estímulo para pensar en nuestra propia fe, nuestra relación personal con Dios y sobre todo, la manera en la que obramos a partir de la fe. Nuestras iglesias deberían celebrar este día, abriendo las puertas, derribando muros, llevando sanidad espiritual a quienes lo necesitan, buscando la mejor manera de servir, sentir que nos “reformamos” para acercas más Dios a quienes aún no le conocen. Así que no nos preocupemos si rompemos esquemas, si estos son para bien, para apoyar, ayudar, devolver dignidad y plenitud a quienes nos rodean, que estemos siempre reformando nuestra fe, nuestras acciones, nuestro testimonio y nuestra vida.

Oración: Señor permite que siempre pueda reformarme y crecer espiritualmente a favor de la justicia, de la paz, llenando mi vida de obras de amor. Amén.

 

Thursday, October 30th

TODAY, TOMORROW, THE NEXT DAY, AND ALWAYS 

Luke 13: 31-34

I tell you; you will not see me again until you say, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Luke 13:35 b (NIV)

The Pharisees, who were always present, clearly came on behalf of Herod, who, fearful of Jesus’ message, wanted to get rid of him with subtle tricks. But Jesus replies that his work is for today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, indicating that even if he did not go to Jerusalem yet, his work would continue forever.

Finally, having arrived in Jerusalem, died on the cross, and risen again, his work continues in those of us who follow him. The Church, knowing that evil people will always be there, seeking to deceive God’s people, knows that God himself walks with us. Brother, sister, as you read or listen today, be prepared and secure in Christ, trusting in our Father, and always praying.

And we will continue to praise, working and serving the people forever, until the whole Earth receives God’s message and until Jerusalem once again proclaims: “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Prayer: Blessed God, thank you for fulfilling your mission as the Son. Make us worthy of carrying your message of Salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HOY, MAÑANA, PASADO Y SIEMPRE

Lucas 13: 31-34

Yo les digo, no me volverán a ver hasta que digan Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor

Lucas 13:35 b

Los fariseos, nunca han de faltar, claramente se ve que venían de parte de Herodes, que temeroso  del mensaje de Jesús,  quería alejarlo con sutiles artimañas. Mas Jesús le contesta que su trabajo es de hoy de mañana y de pasado mañana, indicando que aunque no fuera a Jerusalén todavía, su trabajo seguiría  para siempre.

Al fin, llegado a Jerusalén, muerto en la cruz y resucitado, su trabajo continúa en los que le seguimos, la Iglesia, a sabiendas que los malos siempre estarán, queriendo engañar al pueblo de Dios, mas Dios mismo camina con nosotros. Hermano, hermana que hoy lees o escuchas disponte a estar preparados, confiado en nuestro Padre, orando en todo tiempo y seguros en Cristo.

Y seguiremos alabando, trabajando sirviendo al pueblo por siempre, hasta que toda la Tierra reciba el mensaje de Dios y hasta que en Jerusalén se diga otra vez: "Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor"

Oración:  Dios Bendito, gracias porque como Hijo supiste cumplir tu misión, haz de nosotros y nosotras merecedores de llevar tu mensaje de Salvación. En Jesús, Amén.

Anniversary of the “Santa Fe” (Sagua la Grande) Mission Church

THE ROAD IS NARROW

Luke 13:22-30

 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.

Luke13:30 (NIV)

All the things Jesus said about who would be saved are disturbing, but they are all intended to lead us to one possible conclusion.

To those for whom it has been easy to be Christians, who take this way of life as just another quality. They may use, for example, “I am good, educated, ah, I am a Christian,” as a reference point, but without the commitment to walk through the narrow gate, where one must make the right decisions.

Walking the narrow path means that the gospel flows through our blood and through our bodies. It is reflected in our actions, both in our families and in public, as well as in the church, in our daily lives, and in our work and gifts, which do not have to be exceptional, but they do have to be authentic.

Then we will be able to sit with the prophets and apostles, regardless of the time that has passed. And as someone once said, the good news is that on that narrow path, we are not alone; Jesus will be at our side.

Prayer: Beloved Lord, you show us the way and walk with us. Thank you, God! Amen.

EL CAMINO ES ANGOSTO

Lucas 13:22-30

He aquí vendrán postreros que serán primeros y primeros que serán postreros.

Lucas13:30.

Resulta inquietante, todas las cosas que dijo Jesús sobre quiénes seríamos salvos, pero todas tienen la intención de llevarnos a una conclusión posible.

A aquellos que les ha sido fácil ser cristianos y toman este tipo de vida como una cualidad más, por ej. Soy, buena, educada, ah, soy cristiana, como una referencia, pero sin compromiso de caminar por la puerta estrecha, en la que hay que tomar las decisiones correctas.

Caminar por la senda angosta conlleva que el evangelio pase por nuestra sangre, por nuestro cuerpo y se refleje en nuestros actos, tanto familiares como públicos y también en la iglesia, en lo cotidiano, con nuestro trabajo y dones, que no tienen que ser excepcionales, pero si auténticos.

Entonces podremos sentarnos junto a los profetas y apóstoles, sin importar el tiempo transcurrido. Y como dice alguien, la buena noticia es, que en ese camino angosto, no estaremos solos, Jesús va a nuestro lado.

Oración: Señor amado, tú nos muestras el camino y caminas con nosotros. Gracias Dios. Amén.

THE LORD’S LIST

Luke 6: 2-16

When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles.

Luke 6:13 (NIV)

Before choosing the twelve apostles, Jesus withdraws to the mountain and spends the entire night in prayer. This is not a minor detail: the Master, who knows the hearts of men, does not make decisions without first seeking the Father. His choice is not strategic, nor based on human talents, but on divine communion.

The number twelve is not a random choice; it represents the twelve tribes of Israel, indicating that these men are God’s new people. But what is most striking is that among them are fishermen, a tax collector, a zealot, and even the one who would betray him. Jesus does not choose perfect people; he chooses open hearts.  

When we read this passage, a hymn comes to mind: “Cuando Allá se Pase Lista” (“When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder”). That is one of Edgardo Iglesias’ favorite hymns, and he sang it with such emotion and conviction.

And this pastor’s life matched his words; his actions were marked by sacrifice and dedication, even in the face of physical pain and difficulties of all kinds.

We know that the eleven disciples who remained steadfast gave everything for the gospel, even their lives. And they brought us the inspiration to work for the Kingdom of God.

Prayer: Lord of Life, help us to be worthy of the call you have made to us. Amen.

LA LISTA DEL SEÑOR.

Lucas 6: 2-16

Y cuando era de día, llamó a sus discípulos y escogió a 12 a los cuales llamó también apóstoles.

Lucas 6:13

Antes de elegir a los doce apóstoles, Jesús se retira al monte y pasa toda la noche en oración. Este detalle no es menor: el Maestro, que conoce los corazones, no toma decisiones sin antes buscar al Padre. Su elección no es estratégica, ni basada en talentos humanos, sino en comunión divina.

El número doce no es casual: representa las doce tribus de Israel, señalando que en estos hombres se inicia el nuevo pueblo de Dios. Pero lo más impactante es que entre ellos hay pescadores, un recaudador de impuestos, un zelote y hasta quien lo traicionaría. Jesús no elige perfectos, elige corazones disponibles.

Cuando leemos este pasaje, nos viene a la mente el himno: “Cuando Allá se Pase Lista. “Ese era uno de los himnos preferidos del pastor Edgardo Iglesias, lo cantaba con tanta emoción y firmeza.

Y la vida de este pastor se correspondía con sus palabras, sus hechos eran de sacrificio y dedicación, aún sobre sus dolores físicos y dificultades de todo tipo.

Sabemos que los 11 discípulos que se mantuvieron firmes, lo dieron todo por el evangelio, hasta la vida y trajeron a nosotros la inspiración de trabajar por el Reino de Dios.

Oración: Señor de la Vida, ayúdanos a ser merecedores del llamado que nos has hecho. Amén.

Monday, October 27th

Heal on the day of rest

Luke 13:10-17

Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

Luke 13:13 (NIV)

This story tells us of the time when Christ healed on the Sabbath the crippled woman who had been possessed by an unclean spirit for eighteen years. The Jews opposed him and called him a hypocrite, saying that they would pull sheep out of wells if they fell in on the Sabbath and give water to their oxen and donkeys. Are animals more valuable than human beings?

Yes, as it is acceptable to untie the animals on the Sabbath so they can drink water, surely it would also be acceptable to free a sick person from their bonds on the Sabbath.

To show mercy, to serve, and to do good, there is not a set day; whenever we have the will, we must carry out all kinds of work, especially in these times when humanity needs it so much.

It is our mission to always be ready to fulfill our Christian calling in these very difficult times that our people are experiencing, when sometimes all they need is a hug or a word of encouragement.

Prayer: Blessed Father, may we always be ready to heal and welcome the sick, both physically and spiritually. Amen.

Sanar el día de reposo.

Lucas 13:10-17

Y puso las manos sobre ella, y ella se enderezo  luego, y glorificaba a Dios.

Lucas 13:13

Este relato nos habla de  cuando Cristo sanó a la mujer lisiada en el día de reposo que llevaba dieciocho años con un espíritu inmundo. Los judíos se opusieron y los llamó hipócritas, sacaban las ovejas de los pozos si caían el día de reposo y daban de beber el buey y a su asno ¿Son los animales más valiosos que los seres humanos?

Sí, está bien desatar a los animales el día de reposo para que beban agua, pero seguro que estará bien liberar a un enfermo de la atadura el día de reposo.

Para hacer misericordia, para servir para hacer el bien no hay día señalado siempre que tengamos la voluntad debemos realizar todo tipo de obra y más en estos tiempos que tanto la humanidad lo necesita.

Es nuestra misión estar siempre dispuestos a cumplir nuestra vocación cristiana en estos momentos tan difíciles que vive nuestro pueblo y veces solo necesita de un abrazo, una palabra de aliento.

Oración: Bendito padre que estemos siempre dispuestos a sanar a acoger al enfermo tanto material como espiritualmente. Amén.

Be fair

Luke 18 : 9-14

I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Luke 18:14 (NIV)

In Jesus’ time, most Jews, especially the Pharisees were like this: they were confident in their own righteousness, and they considered themselves better than others.

This parable tells of two men: one a Pharisee who obeyed the law as understood by a strict Jew, and the other a tax collector who was completely different. He knew he was a sinner and that he deserved only punishment. The only thing he dared ask God for was mercy. The tax collector went home justified before God. However, the Pharisee did not; he was condemned for his pride and lack of love.

In order to be accepted and justified by God, we must first be humble, repent of our sins from our hearts, and beg for God’s mercy. Only when we do this will He come and lift us up and clothe our nakedness with the righteousness of Christ.

Prayer: Lord, help us to be fair, from the heart, and not to despise or to judge others. Amen.

Ser justos

Lucas 18 : 9-14

Os digo que este descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porqué cualquiera que se enaltece; será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido.

Lucas 18:1

En la época de Jesús la mayoría de los judíos especialmente los fariseos eran así: confiaban en su propia justicia y se consideraban mejores que los demás.

En esta parábola se habla de dos hombres: uno fariseo obedecía la ley como la entendía un judío estricto y el otro un publicano que era totalmente diferente. Sabía que era pecador y que solo merecía el castigo. Lo único que se atrevía pedir a Dios era misericordia. El publicano se fue a casa justificado ante Dios. Sin embargo el fariseo no, fue condenado por su orgullo y falta de amor.

Para ser aceptados y justificados por Dios debemos primero ser humildes y arrepentirnos de nuestros pecados desde nuestro corazón y rogar por la misericordia de Dios. Solo cuando hagamos esto vendrá y nos levantara y vestirá nuestra desnudez con la justicia de Cristo.

Oración: Señor ayúdanos a ser justos, de corazón, a no despreciar ni juzgar a los demás. Amén.

Saturday, October 25th

Celebration of the Mission Church, “El Fuerte” (Cárdenas)

GIVE THE TREE MORE TIME

Luke 13:1-9

And if it bears fruit, well; and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Luke 13:9 (NIV)

In this passage Jesus urges everyone to repent before it is too late.

God was giving the Jewish nation more time to repent and told the parable of the man who planted the fig tree. The man represents God, and the fig tree represents the Jewish nation.

Like the barren fig tree, the Jewish nation had not borne any fruit of repentance and justice.

In the same way, God is showing mercy to humanity. He is giving them more space for repentance.

We too, like the man who had the vineyard, can pray that humanity will have more time to recognize it’s guilt.

In the meantime, cultivate and fertilize the barren tree. That is, let us not only pray that everyone will have more time, but also share the Gospel of Christ and encourage everyone to repent.

Prayer: Lord, often misfortune is not caused by sin, but by different reasons. Take care of us and deliver us from evil. Amen.

DALE MÁS TIEMPO AL ÁRBOL

Lucas 13:1-9

Y si diere fruto, bien, y si no, la cortaras después.

Lucas 13:9

En este pasaje Jesús exhorta a todos arrepentirse antes que sea demasiado tarde.

Dios estaba dando a la nación Judía más tiempo para arrepentirse y contó la parábola del hombre que plantó la higuera. El hombre representa a Dios y la higuera la nación Judía.

Igual que la higuera estéril la nación judía no había dado ningún fruto de arrepentimiento y justicia.

De esta misma manera, Dios está demostrando misericordia a la humanidad. Él le está dando más espacio para el arrepentimiento.

Nosotros también como el viñador podemos orar para que la humanidad tenga más tiempo de reconocer su culpa.

Mientras tanto cultive y abone el árbol estéril. Es decir, no solo oremos porque todos tengan más tiempo, sino que también compartamos el Evangelio de Cristo y animemos a todos a arrepentirse.

Oración: Señor, a menudo la desgracia no es causada por el pecado, sino por diferentes razones.  Cuídanos, libranos del mal, Señor. Amén.

SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS JUSTICE

Luke 12:54-59

Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

Luke 12:57 (NIV)

Jesus criticizes the hypocrisy of the masses who know how to interpret the signs of the weather, but do not recognize the urgency of his message.

We must understand that He calls his followers to discern the times and to act accordingly, emphasizing that faith is not just a personal matter, but an active response to social realities. The invitation to reconcile with one’s adversary before going to court resonates as a call to seek justice and peace in our communities.

In a context where the poor and marginalized suffer, this call becomes an ethical imperative: we must recognize our own complicity in unjust systems, and act to transform and construct a more just country.

The Gospel is a powerful tool for social transformation, so living our faith means fighting for the dignity of all, especially those most vulnerable.

Prayer: Lord, may we not become indifferent in the face of suffering around us. We want to commit ourselves to building your Kingdom of Justice. Give us your courage and perseverance to fulfill our responsibility. Amen.

Aniversario de  la IPR “El Buen Pastor” (Unión de Reyes)

BUSCA PRIMERO EL REINO DE DIOS Y SU JUSTICIA

Lucas  12:54-59

¿Por qué no juzgan por ustedes mismos lo que es justo?

Lucas 12:57

Jesús critica la hipocresía de las multitudes que saben interpretar los signos del tiempo, pero no reconocen la urgencia de su mensaje.

Debemos entender que Él llama a sus seguidores a discernir los tiempos y a actuar en consecuencia, enfatizando que la fe no es solo un asunto personal, sino una respuesta activa ante las realidades sociales. La invitación a reconciliarse con el adversario antes de llegar a juicio resuena como un llamado a buscar la justicia y la paz en nuestras comunidades.

En un contexto donde los pobres y marginados sufren, este llamado se convierte en un imperativo ético: debemos reconocer nuestras propias complicidades en sistemas injustos, actuar para transformarlos y construir un país más justo.

El Evangelio es una herramienta poderosa para la transformación social, por lo que vivir nuestra fe implica luchar por la dignidad de todos, especialmente de aquellos que son más vulnerables.

Oración: Señor, que no seamos indiferentes ante el sufrimiento ajeno, queremos comprometernos con la construcción de tu Reino de Justicia. Danos de tu valentía y constancia para cumplir nuestra responsabilidad. Amén.
