GO AND SHARE THE GOOD NEWS

Matthew 28: 8-15

But Jesus met them and greeted them. They came and grabbed his feet and worshipped him.

Just a few hours ago we were celebrating the event of Jesus’ resurrection in our communities.  However, on this occasion, this morning’s text tells us the story of two women who, both anxious and enthusiastic at the news given by the angel about Jesus’ resurrection, hastily abandoned the tomb and went to tell the disciples. 

In our daily lives we also have experienced times of fear before uncertain or challenging situations. Even so, let us remember that faith in Jesus Christ offers us a hope that transforms and changes our fears into joy.

Like these two women, we are called to share messages of good news, good news that can revive our strength and allow us to move toward the joy of feeling a part of God’s project of love.  Carry on, live, celebrate and share the good news of knowing that Christ was raised for you and for me.

Prayer: Thank you, my God, for giving me the joy of sharing the message of your resurrection with my brothers and sisters.  Amen.

Vayan y compartan la buena noticia

Mateo 28: 8-15

… en eso, Jesús se presentó ante ellas y las saludó. Ellas se acercaron a Jesús y lo adoraron…

Hace apenas unas horas estuvimos celebrando en nuestras comunidades el evento de la resurrección de Jesús. Sin embargo, en esta ocasión, el texto de esta mañana nos cuenta la historia de dos mujeres que ansiosas y entusiasmadas por la noticia dada por el ángel sobre la resurrección de Jesús, abandonan presurosas el sepulcro y van a avisar a los discípulos.

En nuestra vida cotidiana también hemos experimentado momentos de temor ante situaciones inciertas o desafiantes. Aun así, recordemos que la fe en Jesucristo nos ofrece una esperanza que transforma y cambia nuestros miedos en alegría.

Al igual que estas dos mujeres, somos llamados, llamadas a compartir mensajes  de  buena noticia, buenas nuevas que hagan revivir nuestras fuerzas y nos permita avanzar hacia la alegría de sentirnos parte de su proyecto de amor. Sigue adelante, vive, celebra y comparte la buena noticia de saber que Cristo resucitó por ti y por mí.

Oración: Gracias mi Dios por darme la alegría de compartir el mensaje de tu resurrección con mis hermanas y hermanos. Amén

Resurrection Sunday

THE WOMEN, BRAVE WITNESSES TO THE RESURRECTION

Luke 24: 1 - 12

They found the stone rolled away from the tomb… “He isn’t here, but has been raised.”

Luke 24:2,6 (CEB)

In a time when the testimony of women was not valued in society, God chose women to be the first messengers and brave witnesses of the resurrection. Their love and faithfulness carried them to face the darkness of the dawn and the sadness of death.  Faced with that reality, they found an empty tomb, however, their pain was transformed into happiness and their hopelessness into hope. They were the first to believe and announce the good news: Jesus is alive!

For the women who arrived at the tomb, the resurrection was a revelation which transformed their lives.  In the same way, this event will transform our lives today.  The resurrection invites us to believe that in Christ there are new beginnings, second chances and abundant life.  Just like the women, we are called to be brave witnesses to the resurrection. 

Prayer: Beloved Lord, may the example of the women who were witnesses to the resurrection and the example of so many other women who give their lives for the love of you, inspire us to be faithful and brave in our mission to be your witnesses.  May we live with certainty that death has been overcome forever.  Through Jesus your Son, Amen.

Domingo de Resurrección

LAS MUJERES, TESTIGOS VALIENTES DE LA RESURRECCIÓN

Lucas 24: 1 - 12

(…) encontraron que había sido quitada la piedra la piedra que estaba en la entrada del sepulcro. (…) Jesús no está aquí. Ha resucitado.

Lucas 24: 2: 6

En una época en la que el testimonio de las mujeres no era valorado en la sociedad, Dios las eligió para ser las primeras mensajeras y testigos valientes de la resurrección, su amor y fidelidad las llevaron a enfrentar la oscuridad de la madrugada y la tristeza de la muerte. Ante esa realidad encontraron un sepulcro vacío, sin embargo su dolor se transformó en alegría y su desesperanza en esperanza. Ellas fueron las primeras en creer y en anunciar la buena noticia: ¡Jesús está vivo!

Para las mujeres que llegaron al sepulcro, la resurrección fue una revelación que transformó sus vidas. De la misma manera, este acontecimiento transformará nuestras vidas hoy. La resurrección nos invita a creer que en Cristo hay nuevos comienzos, segundas oportunidades y vida plena. Al igual que aquellas mujeres, estamos llamados a ser testigos valientes de la resurrección.

Oración: Amado Señor, que el ejemplo de las mujeres que fueron testigos de la resurrección y el de tantas otras que entregan su vida por amor a ti, nos inspire a ser fieles y valientes en nuestra misión de ser testigos tuyos. Que podamos vivir con certeza que la muerte ha sido vencida para siempre. Por Jesús tu Hijo. Amén.

HOLY SPIRIT, YOU ARE THE COMFORT FOR ANGUISH AND DISAPPOINTMENT

Psalm 104: 1- 2, 5 – 6, 10, 12 – 14, 24, 30, 35

When you let loose your breath, they are created, and you make the surface of the ground brand-new again.

Psalm 104:30 (CEB)

These words resonate with a special power in our hearts this Saturday of silence and recognition; it also happens when we go through times of anguish, pain, loneliness or hopelessness in our lives.

The Holy Spirit reminds us that Jesus overcame death and that, in Him, we have hope of resurrection. The Spirit helps us to see beyond the present pain and to trust that God has a plan of love for us. In our human weakness, He himself prays for us and strengthens us.  The Holy Spirit gives us the power to get up, continue forward and trust that with God there always is a future full of hope. 

In this special time of Holy Week, let us be filled with the Holy Spirit.  The Spirit is our companion in times of anguish, our counselor in pain and our light in darkness. Let us open our hearts to the Spirit’s presence and let us allow the Spirit to renew our lives, our family and our community. 

Prayer: Beloved God, may your Holy Spirit remind us that in Christ death does not have the last word, that loneliness is not definitive and that hope is never extinguished.  Allow us to always trust in your love and your eternal companionship.  Amen.

SANTO ESPÍRITU, ERES CONSUELO EN LA ANGUSTIA Y LA DESESPERANZA

Salmo 104: 1- 2, 5 – 6, 10, 12 – 14, 24, 30, 35

pero envías tú espíritu y todo en la tierra cobra nueva vida

Salmo 104:  30

Estas palabras resuenan con especial fuerza en nuestros corazones este sábado de silencio y recogimiento; igualmente sucede cuando atravesamos momentos de angustia, dolor, soledad o desesperanza en nuestras vidas. 

El Espíritu Santo nos recuerda que Jesús venció a la muerte y que, en Él, tenemos la esperanza de la resurrección. El Espíritu nos ayuda a mirar más allá del dolor presente y a confiar en que Dios tiene un plan de amor para nosotros; en nuestra debilidad humana, Él mismo ora por nosotros y nos fortalece.  El Espíritu Santo nos da la fuerza para levantarnos, para seguir adelante y para confiar en que, con Dios, siempre hay un futuro lleno de esperanza. 

En este tiempo especial de Semana Santa dejémonos llenar del Espíritu Santo. Él es nuestro compañero en los momentos de angustia, nuestro consuelo en el dolor y nuestra luz en la oscuridad. Abramos nuestro corazón a su presencia y permitamos que Él renueve nuestra vida, nuestra familia y nuestra comunidad. 

Oración: Amado Dios, que tú Espíritu Santo nos recuerde que, en Cristo, la muerte no tiene la última palabra, que la soledad no es definitiva y que la esperanza nunca se extingue. Permítenos confiar siempre en tú amor y tu eterna compañía. Amén.
