GAINING ETERNAL LIFE

John 6:22-27

Don’t work for the food that doesn’t last but for the food that endures for eternal life...

John 6:27a (CEB)

            This verse is in the context of Jesus as the eternal bread of life.  One problem that has been faced during the pandemic of COVID-19 is the lack of perception of risk.  In a similar way, everything seems to indicate that there is little discernment that eternal life can be lost if we are not capable of following “the protocols” that the Lord teaches us.  In place of trusting in the true bread of life, we trust in the one who seems to be synonymous with success.  Let us think, where is our mind focused? Sociological, psychological and social surveys point out that physical, emotional or illness factors are common denominators in modern life.  Another pandemic has been brewing since the end of the twentieth century:  a lack of hope.  German scientist Stefan Klein affirmed this in his book The Happiness Formula.

            Out of many greatly effective protocols, some are:  John 3:17, Micah 6:8, Matthew 25:31-46; Galatians 5:16-26.

            As the director of PASSAGE OF THE UNKNOWN says: analyze, survey and make your own conclusions, but don’t take too long because physical death can occur at any moment.  Through faith we have access to the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ; let us work for food that does not spoil.

 

Prayer: Lord, help us not to disobey that which you have taught us in your Word.  In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen.

Aniversario  de la Iglesia de Guanabacoa

GANAR LA VIDA ETERNA

Trabajad, no por la comida que perece, sino por la comida que a vida eterna permanece...

            Este verso está en el contexto de Jesús como el pan eterno de vida. Un problema que se ha enfrentado con la pandemia de la Covid 19 es la falta de percepción de riesgo. De modo similar, todo parece indicar que hay poco discernimiento en que la vida eterna se puede perder si no somos capaces de seguir “los protocolos” que el Señor nos instruye.  En lugar de confiar en el verdadero pan de vida, lo hacemos con aquello que parece ser sinónimo de éxito. Pensemos, ¿en qué tienes tu mente puesta en todo momento? Investigaciones sociológicas, psicológicas, y sociales señalan a factores materiales, sentimentales, o enfermedades como denominadores comunes en la vida moderna; otra pandemia se ha estado agudizando desde el pasado siglo XX: falta de esperanza; así lo afirma el científico alemán Stefan Klein en su libro “La fórmula de la felicidad”.

            Estos son algunos protocolos dentro de muchos otros de gran efectividad: Juan 3:16; Miqueas 6:8; Mateo: 25:31-46; Galatas 5:16-26

            Como dice el conductor de PASAJE A LO DESCONOCIDO: analice, investigue y saque sus propias conclusiones, pero no se demore porque la muerte física puede ocurrir en cualquier momento. Por la fe tenemos acceso al don de la vida eterna en Jesucristo; trabajemos por la comida que no perece.

 

Oración: Señor, que no desobedezcamos lo que nos has instruido en tu Palabra. En el nombre de Cristo Jesús. Amén.

BE HAPPY ATTITUDES (8)

Romans 8:35; 1 COR 4:12; 2 TIM 3:12

Happy are those whose lives are harassed because they are righteous, because the kingdom of heaven is theirs.

            When one studies any means of communication, whether literature or art in general, you find one ingredient in common in their content: the defense of justice. There are different forms of pursuing justice, whether it be physical or psychological, at different levels of political relations, socioeconomics, racism, human rights, religion, gender, resulting in a whole range of injustices whose origin is the separation of human beings from the God of Love.  In our selfishness and search for personal satisfaction, just being human creates injustice, violent actions, wars and a whole gallery of negative things. Because of this we are forced to react positively, since eternity is guaranteed for those who fight for justice, to those who belong to the Kingdom.

            Facing this disturbing world, we can count on a “vaccine” that immunizes us—the list of “be happy attitudes”.  If we put them into action, we will be validated in living in the Kingdom, where Happiness balances over all adversity.  Let us trust in God, because nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:38-39).  Alleluia! 

 

Prayer: Our Father, allow us to never surrender ourselves to the different situations in which we suffer, that we might be capable of converting them in victory defending justice for your glory and honor, and that this serves to convert lives for your Kingdom.  Through Jesus Christ, Amen.

ACTITUDES PARA SER FELIZ (8)

Bienaventurados los que padecen persecución por causa de la justicia, porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos

Mateo 5:10

            Cuando uno estudia algún medio de comunicación, sea literatura, arte en general, encuentra un ingrediente común de contenido: el defender la justicia. Existen diferentes formas de “perseguir” la justicia, ya sea física o psicológica, a diferentes niveles de relaciones políticas, socieconómicas, racismo, derechos humanos, religión, género, producidas por toda una gama de injusticias cuyo origen está en la separación de la humanidad con el Dios de Amor. En su egoísmo y búsqueda de satisfacción personal, lo que el ser humano genera es injusticia, acciones violentas, guerras y toda una galería de cosas negativas; por ello se nos impone reaccionar positivamente, pues la eternidad está garantizada para aquellos que luchan por la justicia, a los tales pertenece el Reino.

            Frente a este mundo perturbador podemos contar con una “vacuna” que nos inmuniza, son todas las bienaventuranzas. Si accionamos en ellas, tendremos la vigencia de vivir en el Reino, cuyo balance es de Felicidad por encima de toda adversidad. Confiemos en Dios, pues nada, absolutamente nada, nos puede separar de su amor en Cristo Jesús (Rom 8: 38-39). ¡Aleluya!

 

Oración: Padre nuestro, permite que nunca nos rindamos ante las diferentes situaciones en las que se sufre, que seamos capaces de convertirlas en victoria defendiendo la justicia para tu gloria y honor, y que ello sirva para convertir vidas para Tu Reino. Por Cristo Jesús, amén.

BE HAPPY ATTITUDES (7)

Happy are people who make peace, because they will be called God’s children.

Matthew 5:9 (CEB)

            Of the more than 400 times that the word PEACE appears, it is present in almost all of the books of the Bible, I recommend them with the intent of highlighting the importance of the word in what human behavior should be.

            Peace begins in each person, in order to reach a full measure of peace at the interpersonal, collective and international levels.  There are multiple non-governmental organizations who are dedicated to promoting reconciliation through peace and mediation among conflicted parties.  The majority of film-making production, television and newspapers are quite focused on the absence of peace, that is to say, they focus on growing conflicts and irreconciliation at all levels of society.  Many people succumb to vices or drugs looking for a wrong understanding of the notion of peace.  What a tragedy!

            The Great Commission sends us to proclaim the teachings of Jesus, so he commissions us to take the peace of God, which is free, which passes all understanding (Phil. 4:7), and which is accessible 24 hours a day.  Let us be bridges of divine Peace in all our surroundings.

 

Prayer: Lord, give us this peace that all humanity longs for, as the hymn says, and use your Holy Spirit to bring others to the Kingdom of Peace that only You give us through your Son Jesus Christ.  Amen.

ACTITUDES PARA SER FELIZ (7)

Salmos 4:8; 34:14; 85:10

Bienaventurados los que hacen la paz, porque ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios

Mateo 5:9

            De las más de cuatrocientas ocasiones que aparece la palabra PAZ presente en casi todos los libros de la Biblia, recomiendo estas pues intento destacar la importancia del vocablo en lo que debe ser el comportamiento humano.

            La paz empieza en cada uno, para lograr en gran medida la paz a nivel interpersonal, colectivo, incluso internacional. Hay múltiples organizaciones no gubernamentales que se dedican a fomentar la reconciliación a través de la paz y la mediación entre las partes litigantes. La mayoría de la producción cinematográfica, televisiva, periodística, está bastante enfocada en la ausencia de paz, es decir, presentan con creces conflictos e irreconciliación a todos los niveles de la sociedad. Muchas personas sucumben ante vicios o drogas buscando una mal comprendida noción de paz. ¡Qué tragedia!

            La Gran Comisión nos envía a proclamar las enseñanzas de Jesús, así nos comisiona para llevar la paz de Dios, que es gratuita, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento (Fil 4:7), que está asequible las 24 horas. Seamos puentes de Paz divina en todo nuestro entorno.

 

Oración: Danos, Señor, esa paz que ansía toda la humanidad, como dice el himno y usa tu Santo Espíritu para poder conducir a otros al Reino de la Paz que sólo Tú nos das por medio de tu Hijo Jesucristo. Amén.

BE HAPPY ATTITUDES (6)

PROVERBS 2:10; 3:3; 15:15

Happy are people who have pure hearts, because they will see God.

Matthew 5:8 (CEB)

            It is surprising that the word HEART appears in the Bible some 944 times.  It is in all books of the Scriptures. Here I chose only three Proverbs, where the majority of the uses of the word are found.  What is in this word?  What function does it have in the human body? Without a heart, there is no action at all, no physical and much less mental.  It is the body’s motor. 

            Metaphorically an impure heart becomes clogged and collapses. So, to the possible positive action, in fact it is dead, not belonging to the world of life, of that which is “in abundance” as Jesus promised.  If we want to be happy, we need a pure heart, then it will generate goodness and wisdom without which it is impossible to live on this planet.  All human miseries have their origin in the lack of these things.  There are many intelligent people, but not wise ones, who live a disgraceful and sad life.  A pure heart is the one that cleanses every burden, thought or negative action and decides “to seek the Kingdom of God and its justice” knowing that with that all the rest will be added, as the Word instructs.

            Let us wake up every day craving a pure heart—wise, grateful, humble, joyful, merciful, and willing to serve others with much love.

 

Prayer: Our Father, give us a pure heart, big in love and strong to struggle, as the hymn says, and with this heart bring us your peace. Amen.

ACTITUDES PARA SER FELIZ (6)

PROVERBIOS 2:10; 3:3; 15:15

Bienaventurados los de limpio corazón, porque ellos verán a Dios

Mateo 5:8

            Es asombroso que en la Biblia la palabra CORAZÓN aparezca unas 944 veces. Está en todos los libros de las Escrituras; aquí escogí sólo tres de los Proverbios, donde abundan la mayoría. ¿Qué contiene esta palabra? ¿Qué función tiene en el cuerpo humano? Sin corazón no hay acción alguna, ni física y mucho menos mental. Es el motor del cuerpo.

            Metafóricamente un corazón impuro se “tupe” y colapsa. Por tanto, la posible acción positiva a realizar, de hecho está muerta, no pertenece al mundo de la vida, de esa que es “en abundancia” como Jesús nos promete. Si queremos ser felices necesitamos un corazón puro, pues generará bondad y sabiduría sin las cuales es imposible vivir en este planeta. Todas las miserias humanas tienen su origen en la falta de ellas. Hay muchas personas inteligentes, pero no sabias, que viven una vida desgraciada y triste. Un corazón puro es el que limpia toda carga, pensamiento o acción negativa y decide “buscar el Reino de Dios y su justicia” sabiendo que con ello todas las demás cosas vendrán añadidas, como instruye la Palabra.

            Despertemos todos los días con ansias de un corazón puro, sabio, agradecido, humilde, gozoso, misericordioso, dispuesto a servir a los demás con mucho amor.

 

Oración: Padre nuestro, danos un corazón puro, grande para amar y fuerte para luchar, como dice el himno, y con ello tráenos tu paz. Amén.

RECONCILIATION

Luke 15:1-3, 11-32

…because this son of mine was dead and has come back to life! He was lost and is found! And they began to celebrate.

Luke 15:24 (CEB)

            According to the laws of that time, the inheritance of the younger son was one third, and the inheritance of the older son was two thirds.  In the majority of cases, they received the inheritance at the death of the father, although some fathers opted to divide their inheritance before death and step back from the administration of the property.  What is unusual here is that the younger son initiated the division of the property. Thus, he showed a lack of respect for the authority of his father as the head of the family.

            The younger son, rebellious and immature, wanted to be free to live at will.  He needed to hit rock bottom before coming to his senses.  Often people must pass through much pain and tragedy before seeing the only one who can help them.  Do you try to live in the way of the younger son, with selfishness, throwing out everything that gets in your way along the road?  Do not lose your conscience, stop and look before you hit bottom, save yourself and avoid major pain for your family.

            The father was watching and waiting–he was sure his son would return. In the same way, the love of God is persistent and faithful. God gives us opportunities to respond but does not obligate us to go to Him.  As a father, he waits with patience and wants us to come to our senses.  Thus we should accept repentant sinners with our hearts and offer them help and encouragement so they will grow in Christ.

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, allow us to be reconciled with you and with our neighbor.  Amen.

LA RECONCILIACIÓN

Lucas 15:1-3, 11-32

…porque este hijo míío estaba muerto y ha revivido; se había perdido y lo hemos hallado. Y comenzaron a regocijarse.

            Según las leyes de  aquella época la herencia del hijo menor era un tercio, la del hijo mayor era de dos tercios. En la mayoría de los casos, la recibían al morir el padre, aunque algunos padres optaban dividir su herencia antes y retirarse de la administración de sus bienes. Lo que no es usual aquí es que el hijo menor iniciara la división de los bienes. Mostraba así falta de respeto a la autoridad de su padre como cabeza de la familia.

            El hijo menor, rebelde e inmaduro, deseaba ser libre para vivir a su antojo. Necesitaba llegar a lo más bajo antes de recobrar el sentido. A menudo las personas deben pasar por gran pena y tragedia antes de mirar al único que puede ayudarlas. ¿Trata de vivir a su manera, con egoísmo, quitando todo lo que se le interponga en el camino? No pierda su conciencia, deténgase y mire antes de tocar fondo, sálvese y evite a su familia un dolor mayor.

            El padre velaba y esperaba, estaba seguro que su hijo volvería. De la misma manera, el amor de Dios es persistente y fiel. Dios nos dará oportunidades para responder, pero no nos obligará a ir a Él. Como el padre, nos espera con paciencia y desea que recobremos nuestros sentidos. Así nosotros debemos aceptar pecadores arrepentidos de todo corazón y brindarles apoyo y ánimo para que crezcan en Cristo.

 

Oración: Padre amado, permite que podamos estar reconciliados contigo y con nuestro prójimo. Amén.

BE HAPPY ATTITUDES (5)

Proverbs 3:1-3

Happy are people who show mercy, because they will receive mercy.

Matthew 5:7 (CEB)

            “Do to others what you would want them to do to you.” The biblical Golden Rule which Jesus introduces to us is based on the positive aspect of acting.  The word mercy and its derivatives appear 431 times in the Bible.  As the wise King Solomon says: if we don’t “tie it around our necks,” we will not be received by the Most High God.

            The law of action and reaction in physics is also fulfilled when we carry negative thoughts that prevail in contrast to those where pardon, goodness and mercy abound. Let us remember the biblical stories where this virtue prevails, implying all of the be happy attitudes.  For those who apply this divine instruction of peace and happiness, there is no room for doubt.

            To be reconciled with ourselves, with others, and above all, with God, let us apply the Lord’s Prayer. Daily life brings us challenges filled with great negativity against which we have the antidote of mercy, that immunizes us from any destructive virus when we equip ourselves with the shield of pardon and the sword of love, from which emanate all the virtues of the Kingdom. 

 

Prayer:  Father of Absolute Mercy, help us each day to imitate your Son in our daily life, to make our earthly life happier, even in the difficult times which we face.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.

ACTITUDES PARA SER FELIZ (5)

Proverbios 3:1-3

Bienaventurados los misericordiosos, porque ellos alcanzaráán misericordia

Mateo 5:7

            “Haz a los demás lo que quieras que te hagan a ti”. La Regla de Oro bíblica a la que Jesús nos introduce es desde lo positivo del actuar. La palabra misericordia y sus derivados aparecen 431 veces en la Biblia. Como dice el sabio rey Salomón, si no “la atamos al cuello", no la recibiremos de parte del Altísimo.

            La ley física de acción y reacción se cumple también cuando nos cargamos de pensamientos negativos que prevalecen en contraste de aquellos donde abunda el perdón, la bondad y la misericordia. Recordemos las historias bíblicas donde prima esta virtud que implica toda una bienaventuranza.  No cabe lugar a dudas que todo aquel que aplica esta instrucción divina disfruta de paz y felicidad.

            Reconciliarnos con nosotros mismos, con los demás y, sobre todo, con Dios, nos permite aplicar la oración del Padre Nuestro; el diario vivir nos trae retos colmados de alta negatividad contra la cual tenemos el antídoto de la misericordia, que nos inmuniza de cualquier virus destructivo cuando nos pertrechamos con el escudo del perdón y la espada del amor, de la que emanan todas las virtudes del Reino.

 

Oración: Padre de Absoluta Misericordia, ayúdanos cada día a imitar a tu Hijo en nuestro diario vivir, para hacer nuestra vida terrenal más feliz, aún en los momentos difíciles a afrontar. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
