CAN WE LOVE OUR ENEMIES?

Matthew 5:38-48

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Matthew 5:44 (NIV)

When humanity was immersed in the struggle to emerge victorious from the Covid-19 pandemic, many noble-hearted people said, “we will learn from the pandemic, and we will come out better.” Fortunately, the pandemic ended two years ago, but we observe with sadness around us violence, murders, apathy, indifference and wars.

The solution to the sins of humanity is found in Jesus Christ. He taught us to love our enemies, bless, do good, and pray. Only by doing these things can we be called children of the Father. The reward in loving even when it hurts, is difficult, yes; impossible, no.

We can do all things in Christ who strengthens us, strengthens us even to love those who would destroy us. The world will only learn this lesson when it loves with the heart of Christ. “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” (Martin Luther King).

 

Prayer: Lord and God, your love is incomparable. Give us a sincere love, a heart capable of compassion for our persecutors. Amen.

¿PODEMOS AMAR A NUESTROS ENEMIGOS?

Mateo 5:38-48

Pero yo os digo: «Amad a vuestros enemigos, bendecid a los que os maldicen, haced bien a los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen».

Cuando la humanidad estaba inmersa por salir victoriosa de la pandemia del Covid-19 muchas personas de noble corazón decían: «de la pandemia aprenderemos y saldremos siendo mejores.» La pandemia afortunadamente terminó hace dos años, pero observamos con tristeza a nuestro alrededor violencia, asesinatos, apatía, indiferencia y guerras.

La solución al pecado de la humanidad se encuentra en Jesucristo, Él nos enseñó a amar a nuestros enemigos, bendecid, haced el bien, y orad. Solamente haciendo esto podemos ser llamados hijos del Padre, la recompensa está en amar cuando duele; es difícil, sí; imposible, no.

Todo los podemos en Cristo que nos fortalece, nos fortalece incluso para amar a los que quieren destruirnos. El mundo solo aprenderá está lección cuando ame con el corazón de Cristo. «El amor es la única fuerza capaz de transformar a un enemigo en amigo (Martin Luther King).»

 

Oración: Señor y Dios, tu amor es incomparable. Danos un corazón capaz de compadecerse por nuestros perseguidores, un amor sincero. Amén.

 SAVED IN ORDER TO BE JOYFUL

Habakkuk 3:17-19

yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Habakkuk 3:18 (NIV)

The prophet Habakkuk cries out for divine intervention, a fervent plea for God’s mercy. Today, just as in the times of the prophet, it seems that everything is falling apart; however, the prophet did not opt for complaint and discouragement, but preferred to rejoice.

We affirm that God is enough, in spite of calamities. In Him we can be joyful because he has saved us. Our joy lies in our intimate communion with the Creator, stripping ourselves of everything as we walk towards eternity.

The prophet knew that the Sovereign is in charge of everything, and soon divine favor will be seen, and hope will flourish. Happiness is not based on a temporary moment, but rather on the promise of salvation. Only God is enough to fill the emptiness, the sadness, the precariousness. Only Christ can change our lamentation into dance, only the consolation of the Holy Spirit can fill us with joy. 

 

Prayer: Your goodness is great Lord. You changed my sadness into happiness. You are the only one capable of doing that feat. We beseech you for those who are without hope that your light may fill them. Amen.

 SALVADOS PARA SER FELICES

Habaacuc 3:17-19

Con todo, yo me alegraré en Jehová, y me gozaré en el Dios de mi salvación.

Habacuc 3:18

El profeta Habacuc implora con clamor a la intervención divina, un ruego fervoroso por la misericordia de Dios. Hoy, como en los tiempos del profeta, parece que todo está colapsado; sin embargo, este no optó por la queja y el desánimo, sino que prefirió regocijarse.

Afirmamos que Dios es suficiente a pesar de las calamidades. En Él podemos disfrutar de la felicidad porque nos ha salvado. Nuestro gozo radica en nuestra íntima comunión con el Creador, despojándonos de todo caminamos hacia la eternidad.

El profeta sabía que el Soberano está a cargo de todo y pronto se verá el favor divino y florecerá la esperanza. La felicidad no se basa en un momento coyuntural, sino en la promesa de la salvación. Solo Dios basta para llenar los vacíos, las tristezas, la precariedad. Solo Cristo puede cambiar nuestro lamento en danza, solo el consuelo del Espíritu Santo puede llenarnos de gozo.

 

Oración: Tu bondad es grande Señor, cambiaste mi tristeza en felicidad, eres el único capaz de hacer esa proeza. Te suplicamos por aquellos que están sin esperanza para que tu luz les llene. Amén.

YOU HAVE A PLACE IN HIS HOUSE

Matthew 20: 20-28

Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.

Matthew 20:26 (NIV)

Having a life experience in which receiving selfless services from others, feeling that these actions alleviate an ailment or promote solutions for us, or simply giving us a convincing sincere answer to our questions, should be shared with deep gratitude.

We live in times in which if anything is a “struggle,” it is the recognition for the actions that are done for others, even if it is the obligation of the one who serves; and what to say if they are done to us “as a favor.” Flattery and “many thanks” are no longer enough; even more if they are material or monetary. Unfortunately, in our congregations we are not exempt from these attitudes.

If we want to build the Kingdom of God, we must stay away from these behaviors and be courageous defenders of justice and truth, serving with love and humbly occupying the place that God has assigned to us here and now.

Jesus teaches us that our place at his side will only be there if we follow him and give our lives to the service of others, in the same way that he did: WITH LOVE.

 

Prayer: Lord and Savior, make us true servants of your Gospel. Amen.

TIENES UN LUGAR EN SU CASA

Mateo 20: 20-28

Antes bien, si alguno quiere ser grande, que se ponga el servicio de los demás.

Mateo 20: 26

Tener experiencia de vida en la que recibir los servicios desinteresados de otras personas, sentir que esas acciones nos alivian un mal o nos promueven soluciones; o simplemente nos dan una respuesta convincente, sincera a nuestras interrogantes; debieran ser compartidas con agradecimiento profundo.

Vivimos tiempos en los que si algo “se lucha” es el reconocimiento por las acciones que se hacen para otros, aunque sea la obligación del que sirve; y qué decir si nos las hacen “de favor”. Ya no bastan los halagos y las “muchas gracias”; esas mejor aún si son materiales o monetarias. Lamentablemente en nuestras congregaciones no estamos exentos de estas actitudes.

Si queremos construir el Reino de Dios, debemos mantenernos alejados de estos procederes y ser valientes defensores de la justicia y la verdad, sirviendo con amor y ocupando con humildad el lugar que Dios nos ha asignado aquí y ahora.

Jesús nos enseña que nuestro lugar a su lado, sólo será si lo seguimos y entregamos nuestras vidas al servicio de los demás, de la misma forma que él lo hizo: POR AMOR.

 

Oración: Señor y Salvador, haznos verdaderos servidores de tu Evangelio. Amén.
