“Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got in the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.”
John  6:24
I saw a sign that had been hung in hundreds of places all over a Latin American city which said: “WANTED”.  It was part of an evangelistic campaign by a group of churches throughout the country.  I was quite surprised to see a photo of Jesus and a list of the reasons for which he was sought.  

WANTED FOR:
Conspiracy against the established authorities.
Trying to take away the overabundance of the rich and to redistribute it among the poor and the dispossessed.
Multiplying bread and fish and distributing it without the prior permission of the pertinent authorities.
Meeting in public places of the city with:  prostitutes, alcoholics, ex-convicts, etc. contrary to the governmental project to help the needy.
Caring for the old, the destitute, the physically disabled, single mothers, etc…

Jesus is wanted and sought by the people—all of us—for praiseworthy and censurable motives; but the function of the Church—our function—is to open the WAY so that he can be found.


Prayer: Help us, Lord, to remember that You are the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.  


SE BUSCA
JUAN 6:22-24
“Cuando vio, pues la gente, que Jesús no estaba allí,
ni sus discípulos, entraron en las barcas y fueron
a Capernaum, buscando a Jesús”

En una ciudad latinoamericana vi un afiche que habían colocado en centenares de lugares donde se decía “SE BUSCA”. La razón era una campaña evangelista de un grupo de Iglesias en todo el país. Mi asombro fue grande porque se presentaba una foto de Jesús y las razones por las cuales había que buscarlo.
SE BUSCA POR:
Por conspirar contra los poderes establecidos.
Por tratar de quitarle a los ricos lo que les sobra y distribuirlo entre los pobres y desposeídos.
Por multiplicar panes y peces y distribuirlo sin previa coordinación de las autoridades pertinentes.
Por reunirse con la escoria social de la ciudad: prostitutas, alcohólicos, ex presidiarios etc. a espalda al proyecto gubernamental de ayuda a los necesitados.
Por preocuparse de los ancianos desvalidos, los incapacitados físicos, las madres solteras etc.…
La gente – que somos todos y no es nadie – busca a Jesús por motivos loables y criticables; pero la función de la Iglesia – nosotros – es abrirle el CAMINO para que lo encuentren.

Oración: Permítenos, Señor, no olvidar que Tú eres el camino, la verdad y la vida. Amén.

A FRIEND:  AN OPEN DOOR

PROVERBS 17:17-18
A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. ”
Proverbs 17:17

In Caracas, a friend is called pana or llave: pana, short for panadería or a bakery providing bread, the source of good nourishment for a hungry soul, and llave or a key because a true friend is the key that opens the doors of life.

The writer Mario Benedetti says that when he lived in Buenos Aires, during the times of terror, he held five keys belonging to others on his keychain: “Five keys, to five homes, of five friends:  the keys that saved his life.”

God blesses us with true friends within the Christian family, friends who are like siblings and in weakness, like extensions of God’s arms. We need to be friends like this, bread to nourish spiritually and materially. We also need to be friends that are like open doors, to welcome and save and comfort our brothers and sisters but also all who knock on them.

Prayer: Lord, deliver us from the evil of not being good enough friends to open our doors to those who knock on them. Amen.

UN AMIGO: UNA PUERTA QUE SE ABRE

PROVERBIOS 17:17-18
Un amigo es siempre afectuoso,
y en tiempos de angustia es como un hermano”

En Caracas, al amigo se le llama pana o llave: pana, por panadería, la fuente del buen alimento para las hambres del alma, y llave porque un verdadera amigo es la llave que abre las puertas de la vida.
El escritor Mario Benedetti cuenta que cuando vivía en Buenos Aires, en los tiempos del terror, llevaba cinco llaves ajenas en su llavero: “cinco llaves, de cinco casas, de cinco amigos: las llaves que lo salvaron.”
Dios nos bendice con verdaderos amigos dentro de la familia cristiana, amigos que son como hermanos y en la debilidad, como extensiones de los brazos de Dios. Es necesario entonces que seamos pan que alimente espiritual y materialmente. Es necesario también,  que seamos amigos como puertas que se  abran para salvar, para consolar y acompañar a nuestros hermanas /os  pero también  a todo aquel que toque en ellas.

Oración: Señor, líbranos del mal de no ser suficientes amigos para no abrir nuestras puertas cuando alguien llama a ellas. Amén.

GIVE YOURSELF TIME: REST

MARK 2:23-28
The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”

In today’s world time goes by so quickly, that it is difficult for us to even stop to think about whether the path we’ve covered that day was any good or not.  Mind and body collapse in exhaustion at night and even our dreams do not enable us to comfortably rest.
However, this is not what God wants for our lives. God has asked us to set aside a space for a true period of rest, rest where we can admire the beauty of nature without worrying about the time, how much our kids and our grandchildren have grown, and dust off the book that we’ve been wanting to read for months.

Let us remember that this is how God occupies his space as well; and in the midst of our rest, we will be able to lift up a prayer to Him, that we had perhaps also forgotten amid the daily frenzy.  


Prayer: Lord, grant that we may be able to understand that rest is necessary, since it is in this time that we remember and recuperate the important things in our lives. Amen.

DATE TU TIEMPO: DESCANSA

MARCOS 2:23-28
El sábado fue hecho para el hombre,
no el hombre para el sábado
Marcos 2: 27

En la actualidad el tiempo corre tan rápido, que nos cuesta hasta detenernos a pensar  si está del todo bien el camino recorrido en el día. Mente y cuerpo caen exhaustos en la noche y ni siquiera en sueños descansamos cómodamente.
Sin embargo, esto no es lo que Dios propone para nuestras vidas. Dios nos ha pedido que apartemos un espacio para el verdadero descanso, descanso donde podamos admirar sin miedo a la hora, lo hermoso de la naturaleza, cuánto han crecido nuestros hijos y nietos y desempolvar el libro que hace meses queremos leer.
Recordemos que así también Dios ocupa su espacio;  y en medio de nuestro descanso, podremos elevar una oración a Él, que quizás con la premura diaria también habíamos olvidado.


Oración: Señor, permite que podamos entender que descansar es necesario,  pues en este tiempo recordamos y recuperamos cosas importantes para nuestra vida. Amén.

THE PRAYER OF THE RIGHTEOUS IS EFFECTIVE

JAMES 5:7-20
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
James 5:16

If we feel distressed, afflicted or ill, let us call one of the brothers of faith, of conviction, consecrated and kindhearted, and let us converse with them so that they will pray for us.

Among our families and friends, there are sons and daughters of God with afflictions and illnesses: let us receive and comfort them and intercede for each one before God. The Father who is attentive to our requests and who knows what we need, will give us the vigor we have lost, will restore our desired health, healing us from our pains.  But let us not forget James’s words:  “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” And before praying for one another that we may be healed, let us confess our offenses and purify our hearts.  God listens to all of our clamors but the prayer of a righteous person is effective because there are no shadows to darken or obscure it.


Prayer: Lord, I want to be useful to others in this ministry of effective prayer. I wish to intercede in an effective manner for people who are sick or sad and I ask you, Father, to prepare me and to cleanse me for that purpose. Amen.  


LA ORACIÓN DEL JUSTO ES EFICAZ

SANTIAGO 5:7-20
“Confesaos vuestras ofensas unos a otros,
y orad unos  por otros, para que seáis sanados.
La oración eficaz del justo puede mucho”
Santiago 5:16

Si nos sentimos atribulados,  afligidos o enfermos, llamemos a algunos de los hermanos de la fe, de convicción, consagrados y piadosos y conversemos con ellos para que oren por nosotros.
Hay entre nuestros familiares y amigos, hijos e hijas de Dios con aflicciones y enfermedades: acudamos y consolémosles e intercedamos por cada uno delante de Dios. El Padre que está atento a nuestras peticiones y que sabe de lo que estamos necesitados, nos dará el vigor perdido, nos restaurará la salud deseada, sanándonos de nuestras dolencias. Pero no olvidemos las palabras de Santiago: “La oración eficaz del justo puede mucho”. Y antes de orar los unos por los otros para que seamos curados, confesemos las ofensa y purifiquemos nuestros corazones. Dios escucha todos los clamores pero la oración del justo es eficaz, porque no hay tinieblas que la oscurezcan y lastren.

Oración: Señor, yo quiero ser útil a mis semejantes en este ministerio de la oración eficaz. Yo quiero interceder por los enfermos y tristes de una manera eficiente y te pido Padre que  me prepares y limpies para ello. Amén.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might...”

if I knew that the end of the world would arrive the following morning, I would still plant a tree the night before.” I began this meditation with something that Luther wrote that has always confronted me. In a world where people are increasingly apathetic, where the philosophy of “save yourself first if you can” is everywhere, where many people think that it’s not worthwhile or there isn’t time for giving somebody a rose, or planting a garden… this sentence opens a door for us toward the light of Christ. 

The preacher teaches us that all that we have at hand to do must be done with love. Even in the midst of crisis, or war, even at the very end, let us sow life and life in abundance, perhaps not for our own enjoyment, but in order to serve others. This is the invitation that Gabriela Mistral always extends to us when she writes:  “Where there is a tree to plant, plant it…. God, who gives the fruit and light, serves… and has his eyes fixed on our hands and asks us each day: ‘Did you serve today?  Whom?  The tree, your friend, your mother?’”


Prayer: Help me, beloved God, to not lose hope and to serve with all the passion and the courage needed so that I do not allow myself to be defeated by disillusion and apathy.  

SEMBREMOS VIDA
MATEO 25: 31-46
“Todo lo que te venga a mano para hacer
hazlo según tus fuerzas.”
Eclesiastés 9:10a
Si yo supiera que el fin del mundo había de llegar mañana, todavía plantaría un árbol la noche anterior.” He iniciado esta meditación con un planteamiento de Lutero que siempre  me ha confrontado. En un mundo donde cada vez las personas se muestran más apáticas, donde la filosofía del “sálvese quien pueda”  pretende apoderarse de todos los espacios, donde muchos piensan que no vale la pena o no hay tiempo para regalar una rosa, plantar un jardín...  esta frase nos abre una puerta hacia la luz de Cristo. El predicador nos enseña que todo lo que tenemos a mano para hacer hay que hacerlo con amor. Aún en medio de una crisis, una guerra, aún antes del fin, sembremos vida y vida en abundancia, quizás no para disfrutarlo nosotros, pero para servir a los demás.
Esta es la invitación que también nos hace Gabriela Mistral cuando expresa: “Donde haya un árbol que plantar, plántalo tú… Dios, que da el fruto y la luz, sirve … y tiene sus ojos fijos en nuestras manos y nos pregunta cada día: ¿Serviste hoy? ¿A quién? ¿Al árbol, a tu amigo, a tu madre?

Oración: Ayúdame Dios amado, a no perder la esperanza y servir con toda la pasión y el coraje como para no dejarme vencer por la desilusión y la apatía.

“A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.”
1 Corinthians 11:28
In our worship services, we always have a moment for acknowledging our errors before God.  It is a way of becoming consciously aware of the opportunity that God gives us to become born again, to examine our conduct and to renew ourselves. But we need to participate in this conversion on a daily basis, this possibility of feeling reconciled with God, in a deep and not superficial manner.

Today’s text calls us to examine our conduct in order to be especially prepared at the instant that we are going to participate in communion. There, before partaking of the bread and the wine, let us examine our conscience. Let us be inflexible with our mind, undressing it so that the most subtle and poison-filled of intentions cannot remain veiled. Let us open all our hearts, uncover our feelings and our ideas and tell the Lord where our wounds lie. Then the Lord will clean us and will heal us and we will be in true communion with Him.

Prayer: Have mercy on me, God, in accordance with your mercy; because I acknowledge all my rebellions and my sin is always before me. Amen.


PRUÉBESE CADA UNO A SI MISMO

“Por tanto pruébese cada uno a sí mismo

En nuestros Cultos de Adoración, siempre tenemos un momento para reconocer ante Dios nuestros errores. Es una manera de concientizar la oportunidad  que Dios  nos brinda de nacer de nuevo, de examinar nuestra conducta y renovarnos. Pero es necesario participar de esta conversión cotidiana, de esta posibilidad de sentirnos reconciliados con Dios, de una manera profunda y no superficial.
El texto de hoy es un llamado a examinar nuestra conducta para estar aptos especialmente en el instante en que vamos a participar de la Comunión. Allí, delante del pan y el vino, antes de tomarlos, hagamos examen de conciencia. Seamos inflexibles con nuestra mente y desnudémosla para que la más sutil de las intenciones cargada de veneno no se quede arrinconada. Abramos las entrañas todas, descubramos nuestros sentimientos y nuestras ideas, y digámosle al Señor dónde están  nuestras llagas. El Señor pues, nos limpiará, nos sanará y estaremos en verdadera comunión con Él.

Oración: Ten piedad de mí, Dios, conforme a tu misericordia; porque yo reconozco mis rebeliones y mi pecado está siempre delante de mí. Amén.

POWER THAT COMES FROM GOD

GENESIS 1
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.

Think about power and energy.  How much power is wasted in the world, how much energy is spent around us. Everything is a source of power and energy. Our body is nothing more than a storehouse of various types of energy subdivided by different food groups.  But we cannot forget that the only and true source of all power is God.  He was, is and will be the one to supply, for all of creation, the power that is spent within it second by second. He condensed the mysterious energy which constitutes life within living organisms. And it was He who gave that even more enigmatic energy called the Spirit.

And it is to this Almighty God that we pray and whom we worship so that He will deliver us from evil, not allowing us to depart from him, but rather giving us the sufficient power to overcome and triumph over it.


Prayer: Oh God almighty, I acknowledge you as the only living source of all power and I ask you, Lord, to fill me with your Spirit so that I can be a powerful witness to you in faith and in action.  Amen.



DE DIOS EL PODER

Piensa lo que es la fuerza, la energía. Cuánta fuerza se derrocha en el mundo, cuánta energía se invierte a nuestro alrededor. Todo es fuente de fuerza y energía. Nuestro cuerpo no es más que un almacén de diversos tipos de energía proporcionada por diferentes clases de alimentos. Pero no podemos olvidar que la fuente única y verdadera de todo poder es Dios. Él fue, es y será el que le suministra a toda la creación la fuerza que en ella se invierte segundo a segundo. Él condensó en los organismos vivos la energía misteriosa que constituye la vida. Y Él fue quien dio esa energía aun más enigmática que se llama Espíritu.
Y es a ese Dios Todopoderoso, a quien le oramos y adoramos para que nos libre del mal, no alejándonos de él, sino dándonos poder suficiente para superarlo y vencerlo.


Oración: Oh Dios todopoderoso, te reconozco como la única  fuente viva de todo poder y te pido Señor, que llenes de tu Espíritu para que yo sea un testigo tuyo poderoso en fe y en obra. Amén.

PSALM 115: 4-8

Throughout our lives we need to be careful not to create and venerate idols. It is surprising how many different types of idols we can have.  Our idols can best be summarized as anything that can take away the time that we should dedicate to God and anything that leads us away from his teachings. Each of us has our kept idols. But I invite you to reflect about them in order to remember them and to decide to get rid of them, to throw them far away.

Idolatry applies in all areas.  Even suffering can become an idol.  Be careful not to overly idealize a situation or people in certain situations; beware of placing people that we admire on pedestals. May Father God, Son and Holy Spirit be our center.

Prayer: Forgive me oh God, for the times in which I have turned away from your path, following the steps of idols and forgetting that you alone are the center of our existence.


DIOS, NUESTRO CENTRO

SALMO 115: 4-8
“No tendrás Dioses ajenos delante de mí.”
Éxodo 20:3

En el transcurso de nuestra vida tenemos que cuidarnos de los ídolos que podemos crear y venerar. Nos sorprendería saber cuántos tipos de ídolos tenemos, pero mejor sería resumirlo de esta manera: todo lo que me puede quitar el tiempo que le debo dedicar a Dios y me desvía de sus enseñanzas puede ser un ídolo.
Todos tenemos algunos ídolos guardados.  Solo te invito a reflexionar para que los recordemos y decidamos sacarlos, echarlos fuera.
La idolatría aplica en todas las áreas. Incluso el sufrimiento puede ser un ídolo.  Cuidado con esto. Cuidado con el idealizar mucho una situación o a las personas en ciertas situaciones, cuidado con poner a la gente que admiramos en pedestales. Que Dios Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo sea nuestro centro.

Oración: Perdóname oh Dios, por las veces en que me he desviado de tu camino, siguiendo los pasos de ídolos y olvidando que sólo tú eres el centro de nuestra existencia.

ROOTS OF LOVE
2 TIMOTHY 1:3-7
“I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”
2 Timothy 1:5

I always identified very strongly with my grandparents, and felt terrible whenever I heard them ask me:  “Why haven’t you come to see me?” They were the centering and gathering point and bridges in many instances, for their sons, daughters, brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, etc.   And the advice they gave; even if they weren't speaking to you, you would pay attention and something always left an impression in your memory.  We obviously learn many things from our father and mother but today I have been thinking about the grandfathers and grandmothers and I wanted to expand on that thought.

In this letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul acknowledges the legacy of our ancestors, as they are oftentimes bridges that help us to cross over to a life in communion with God.

All our affection and respect goes to our grandmothers and grandfathers for their wisdom, their opportune correction and guidance, their sweet and sacrificial love that gave us the faith to deal with difficult moments and helped us to embrace the gospel.


Prayer:  God, we thank you for grandparents, for their affection and their unconditional love.  Be it in your presence or here among us, they are a treasure, they are roots of love.  

RAÍCES DE AMOR
2 TIMOTEO 1:3-7
“Pues evoco el recuerdo de la fe sincera que tú tienes,
fe que arraigó primero en tu abuela Loida y en tu madre
Eunice, y sé que también ha arraigado en ti.”
2 Timoteo 1:5

Siempre me identifiqué mucho con mis abuelos, me sentía mal cuando les escuchaba preguntarme: “¿por qué no has ido a verme?” En torno a ellos, ellas se movían la unión de hijos, hijas, hermanos y hermanas, primos, sobrinas, etc.  Eran puntos de encuentro, en muchos casos puentes. También los consejos que daban; aunque no estuvieran hablando contigo, prestabas atención y algo quedaba impreso en tu memoria. Obviamente que aprendemos muchas cosas de papá y mamá pero hoy pensé en los abuelos y abuelas y quise quedarme en esa reflexión.
En esta carta a Timoteo, el apóstol Pablo reconoce el legado de nuestros antepasados, ellos son muchas veces esos puentes que nos ayudan a cruzar por la vida en comunión con Dios.
Todo nuestro cariño y respeto para las abuelas y abuelos por su sabiduría, corrección oportuna, amor sacrificado y dulce que afianzó en nosotros la fe en momentos difíciles y nos ayudó a abrazar el evangelio.

Oración: Gracias Dios, por los abuelos, por su cariño y amor incondicional. Ya sea en tu presencia o aquí entre nosotros, ellos son un tesoro, ellos son raíces de amor.

WHOSE NEIGHBOR AM I?
LUKE 10: 25-37
“...just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:28
Surely throughout life’s journey we have met people whose purpose in life is to seek adulation. They are those people who are annoyed when they are not served according to their expectations, or when they don’t receive a telephone call or a visit when they are sick, but who at the same time don’t bother to visit or call when somebody needs them. Those who act in this manner have not learned the profound message expressed by Jesus: “…did not come to be served, but to serve…”  Let us also remember that “it is better to give than to receive.” 

Today’s invitation is to quit feeding our own egos. Like Jesus, let us change the direction of the question: Who is my neighbor? Instead, let us ask:  Whose neighbor am I?  Instead of worrying about who is going to serve us, let us always be on the lookout for which person we can serve.  Instead of worrying about what people will do for us, let us do something for others.  In this way, we will enjoy the pleasure that comes with giving of ourselves to others.
Prayer: Jesus, teacher and servant, remove all of our selfishness. Place in our hearts the desire to serve, so that we can love others as you love us.  Amen.

Seguramente en el camino de la vida hemos encontrado a esas personas que viven para ser aduladas. Son aquellas que se molestan cuando no son atendidas según sus expectativas, o cuando no reciben una llamada telefónica o una visita al estar enfermas, pero al mismo tiempo no se preocupan por visitar o llamar cuando alguien les necesita. Quienes así actúan no han aprendido el profundo mensaje de Jesús cuando expresó: “que no vino para ser servido, sino para servir”. Recordemos también que “más buena cosa es dar que recibir”
La invitación de hoy es a dejar de alimentar nuestro ego Al igual que Jesús, cambiemos el sentido de la pregunta ¿Quién es mi prójimo?; por la pregunta ¿De quién soy yo prójimo? Que no nos preocupe ¿quién nos va a servir? y estemos pendientes de ¿a quién puedo servir?  Más que preocuparnos por lo que la gente hace por nosotros, hagamos algo por los otros. Así, disfrutaremos el placer  que hay en darnos a los demás.
Oración: Jesús, maestro y siervo, quita de nosotros todo egoísmo. Pon en nuestro corazón el deseo de servir, para que podamos amar a los demás, así como tú nos amas. Amén

ETERNAL INHERITANCE

COLOSSIANS 1:1-15
“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.”
Hebrews 9:15


A
few days ago I was reading the following anecdote:  When a rich landowner died, two men commented: “The deceased’s sons are so selfish, so greedy and so unpleasant, that they are completely unworthy of inheriting their father’s riches.”  The other man replied, “Worthiness doesn’t count in this case. An inheritance is a gift which is conferred, not a prize which is won.”

The inheritance that we receive from our Lord Jesus Christ is like this.  It is something that is conceded to us through his grace.  We may be unworthy and as such we cannot offer anything to make ourselves worthy of the blessings of our God.  He permits us to be inheritors of his Kingdom by first granting us salvation in Christ Jesus.  We are heirs to an eternal treasure that we can always enjoy.  Let us therefore be responsible with that inheritance.


Prayer: Greatly beloved Lord, we give you thanks because you do not look at our iniquities, loving us and conceding the gift of salvation to us, through which we are heirs to your eternal kingdom.


HERENCIA ETERNA

COLOSENSES 1:1-15
“Por eso es mediador de una nueva Alianza; para que,
interviniendo su muerte para remisión de las transgresiones
de la primera Alianza, los que han sido llamados
reciban la herencia eterna prometida.”
Hebreos 9:15

Hace algunos días leía la siguiente anécdota: A la muerte de un rico hacendado dos hombres comentaban: “Los hijos del finado son tan egoístas, tan avaros y tan desagradecidos, que son completamente indignos de heredar las riquezas de su padre...” El otro contestó: “Pero son sus herederos. Aquí no se cuentan  los merecimientos. Una herencia es un don  que se confiere, no un premio que se gana.”
Así es la herencia que recibimos de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Es algo que se nos concede mediante su gracia. Quizás seamos indignos y como tales no podemos ofrecer nada que nos haga merecedores de las bendiciones de nuestro Dios. Él nos permite ser herederos de su Reino otorgándonos primero la salvación en Cristo Jesús. Somos herederos de un tesoro eterno del cual ya podemos disfrutar, seamos pues responsables con esa herencia.

Oración: Amantísimo Señor, te damos gracias porque tú no miras nuestras iniquidades, sino que  nos amas y nos concedes el don de la salvación, mediante el cual somos herederos de tu reino eterno.

PSALM 86
“…abounding in love to all who call to you.”
Psalm 86:5
Upon reading this verse I recalled a question put to me by a Sunday school student: “If God is always with us, why do we need to invoke his name during the worship service?”  The invocation is more than a simple calling or request to God; it is the acknowledgement that we need to make of his constant presence in our lives. Invoking God’s name means opening up all our senses to his presence in the midst of joys and tribulations.  Without doubt, if we invoke it with faith and have the courage to hope in Him with perseverance and patience, we will receive great things. We need to continue praying and hoping in the Lord until we hear the sound of a great rain of blessings.  Call out his name and acknowledge his presence in each blessing that you enjoy each day. Remember that whenever you invoke him from deep within your heart, He will respond because he is attentive to the voice of your requests.

Prayer: Beloved God, we praise you with the assurance that you always hear our requests. Help us now to remain always in communion with you.  In the name of our Lord, Amen.  

INVOCARÉ TU NOMBRE
SALMO 86
“…y grande en misericordia
para todos los que te  invocan”
Salmo 86:5
Al leer este verso recuerdo una pregunta de un alumno de la escuela dominical: “¿Si Dios siempre está con nosotros por qué hemos de invocarle en el culto?” Y es que la invocación es más que un simple llamado o ruego a Dios, es el reconocimiento que debemos hacer de su presencia constante en nuestras vidas. Invocar a Dios significa abrir todos nuestros sentidos a su presencia en medio de las alegrías y las tribulaciones. Sin duda, si le invocamos con fe y tenemos valor para esperar en Él con perseverancia  y paciencia, recibiremos cosas grandiosas. Debemos de continuar orando y esperando en el Señor hasta oír el sonido de una gran lluvia de bendiciones. Invoca su nombre y reconoce su presencia en cada bendición de las que disfrutas diariamente. Recuerda que siempre que le invoques desde lo más profundo del corazón, Él te responderá porque está atento a la voz de tus ruegos.

Oración: Dios amado, te alabamos con la certeza de que siempre escuchas nuestras plegarias. Ayúdanos a mantenernos en comunión contigo. En el nombre de nuestro Señor. Amén.

CALLED TO WORSHIP
PSALM 42
Come, let us bow down in worship,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;”
Psalm 95:6
With great curiosity we have observed that each of the human activities has its own postures and appropriate movements and characteristics.

If we need medical assistance because our health is ailing, we go to the hospital and follow the requirements needed in order to consult with the doctor.  In order to improve ourselves we attend schools or choose the appropriate places to study and learn.  When we sit down at the table to eat we do so also by observing certain social habits. And this verse tells us that worship has an equal place of importance, its correct postures, and its appropriate places. It is true, however, that when the spirit is in the prayer, the body’s attitude is not an issue.

But when we feel the intimate call of worship, let us seek to put our entire being into the act of worship, so that our communion with the Father may be more intimate and perfect.

Prayer: Lord, I want to worship you with all my being.  Illumine me so that not a single part of my body is in darkness as I worship you.  In the name of Jesus. Amen.


LLAMADO A LA ADORACIÓN
SALMO 42
Venid, adoremos y postrémonos
delante de Jehová nuestro Hacedor”

Con cuánta curiosidad hemos observado que cada una de las actividades humanas tiene sus posturas y sus movimientos adecuados y característicos.
Si necesitamos de la asistencia de un médico porque nuestra salud está quebrantada, acudimos a un hospital y guardamos los requisitos indispensables para consultar al galeno. Para  superarnos asistimos a las escuelas o escogemos lugares apropiados para el estudio. Cuando nos sentamos a la mesa para comer y alimentarnos lo hacemos también observando ciertos hábitos sociales. Y este versículo nos dice que la adoración tiene igualmente su momento oportuno, sus posturas correctas, sus lugares apropiados. Aunque es verdad que cuando el espíritu está en oración no importa la actitud del cuerpo.
Pero cuando sintamos el llamado íntimo a la adoración, busquemos eso: que  todo nuestro ser  esté en actividad de adoración para que la comunión con el Padre sea más íntima y perfecta.

Oración: Señor, yo quiero adorarte con todo mi ser. Ilumíname  para que no se quede ninguna parte de mi cuerpo en tinieblas mientras te adoro. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.

HIS JOY COMPLETE IN YOU

JOHN 15:1-17
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
John 15:11

One of the hymns we sing in Church says: “Great joy in my soul today resides, because Jesus with me today abides.”

The presence of God is the source of Christian joy.  Being with Jesus, talking with Him and listening to his voice each day; this is our source of joy.  It is not the same type of joy that the Lord calls “my joy” or of those others, even the legitimate ones, joys that the world and its triumphs can offer. This is a special state of identification with the Lord that does not necessarily have to be at odds with life in all of its manifestations. It is something akin to being able to fully enjoy the same things that we only half enjoy when we cannot talk about them and share them with the Lord.

Listen to his voice today and you will have his joy made complete in you.

Prayer: Oh God of mercy, grant that I may have a close communion with you  today, that we may constantly be able to hear your voice and have your joy made complete in us. Amen.  


SU GOZO CUMPLIDO EN TI

JUAN 15:1-17
“Estas cosas os he hablado, para que mi gozo
esté en vosotros, y vuestro gozo sea cumplido”
Juan 15:11

Uno de los himnos que cantamos en la Iglesia dice: “Grande gozo hay en mi alma hoy, pues Jesús conmigo está”
La presencia de Dios es la fuente del gozo cristiano. Estar con Jesús, hablar con Él y escuchar su voz cada día; esa es nuestra fuente de gozo. No es la misma clase de gozo lo que el Señor llama “mi gozo” y aquellos otros, aun los legítimos, goces que el mundo y sus triunfos pueden ofrecer. Este es un estado especial de identificación con el Señor, que no tiene necesariamente que estar reñido con la vida en todas sus manifestaciones. Es algo así como poder disfrutar a plenitud las mismas cosas que solo disfrutamos a medias cuando no podemos hablarlas y compartirlas con el Señor.
Hoy oye su voz y tendrás su  gozo cumplido en ti.

Oración: Permíteme oh Dios de misericordia, tener tan estrecha comunión contigo en el día de hoy, que podamos constantemente escuchar tu voz y tener tu gozo cumplido en nosotros. Amén.
