DOING MORE THAN WHAT IS ASKED OF US

MATTHEW 5:41

and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go also the second mile.

Matthew 5:41(NRSV)

            The editor of a periodical sent a cub sports reporter to cover a game, but when he returned he had no story. The editor asked why he had not brought back the report, and the reporter replied, “There was no game.” “And why was there no game? What happened?” “The stadium had problems with the roof, and part of it collapsed.” “Why didn’t you cover the story of the collapse?” asked the editor, to which the youth replied. “You didn’t tell me to cover that.”

            A lot of people live only doing what they were told to do. However, greater doors open by which more can be done that what is demanded.

            Don't be one of those who only walks a mile. You are called to be among those who walk an extra mile, because for them, new opportunities open themselves.

            Today is a good day to begin walking that extra mile. Let’s begin with what we have close at hand: with our family, with our neighbors, in our Church. Let's not stop when we think we can go on and do more.

            Remember, it’s always possible to do something more.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the lessons I receive every day from your Word brought to me through the devotions of Su Voz. I ask you today to guide me to always go farther than I have to. Amen.

HACER MAS DE LO QUE SE NOS PIDE

MATEO 5:41

“al que te pida llevar carga por una milla, véé con él dos”

Mateo 5:41

            El editor de un perióódico envió una vez a un joven reportero de deportes a cubrir un juego, pero cuando éste regresó no traía la historia. El editor le preguntó por qué no había traído la noticia y el reportero contestó: “No hubo juego”. -“¿Y por qué no hubo juego? ¿Qué pasó?”. “Es que el estadio tenía problemas con el techo y se derrumbó una parte”. -“Entonces, ¿y no hiciste la crónica del derrumbe del techo?”, preguntó el editor. A lo que el joven respondió: “Usted  no me dijo que cubriera eso”.

            Son muchas las personas que viven únicamente para hacer lo que se les dice que hagan. Sin embargo, se abre una puerta más grande para aquel que hace mucho más de lo que le piden.

            No seas de los que caminan solo una milla. Eres llamado  para ser de los que caminan una milla extra, porque a esos se les abren nuevas oportunidades.

            Hoy es un buen día para comenzar a caminar esa milla extra. Comencemos con lo que tenemos más cerca: con nuestra familia, con nuestros vecinos, en nuestra Iglesia. No nos detengamos cuando creamos que podemos seguir y hacer algo más.

            Recuerda, siempre se puede hacer algo más.

Oración: Gracias Dios, por las enseñanzas que cada día recibo de tu Palabra mediante las meditaciones de Su Voz. Te pido que hoy me guíes para caminar siempre por delante de lo que supone deba hacer. Amén.

THOSE WHO LOVE GOD WILL NOT LACK ANY GOOD THING.

MATTHEW 25: 21

Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things

            When I was a little girl I used to go to the country to my maternal grandmother’s house for vacation. It was a beautiful time for me, and I was delighted to be surrounded by nature. Through the window of the room in which slept I could see a custard apple tree, and I fell asleep for my midday nap watching its branches move in the wind.

            I always wanted to live in a house where I could contemplate such a tree through the window of my room. That was one of my dreams, but I lived in the City, and thus it was very hard to make that dream a reality.

            When I came to know the Lord, I lived in an apartment surrounded by buildings, but within a few months I had a group of colleagues meeting in the small room of my house. Four years after opening the doors of my home to serve the Lord, God gave me a spacious house with a good patio for my weekly brotherhood meeting, and from the two windows in my room I can see leafy trees. Sometimes I feel that God didn't forget my dreams, nor did I.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for making the dreams of your children real. Help us to be faithful to your in order to deserve it.

Aniversario Iglesia Placetas

Los que aman a Dios no tendrán falta de ningún bien.

MATEO 25; 21

“Bien, buen siervo y fiel, sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré”

            De pequeña solía ir al campo a casa de mi abuela materna a pasar las vacaciones. Era un tiempo hermoso para mí y mi deleite era estar rodeada de la naturaleza. En la ventana del cuarto donde dormía había un árbol de Anón y mirando moverse sus hojas con el viento dormía mi siesta del mediodía.

            Siempre desee vivir en una casa que pudiera contemplar algún árbol desde la ventana de mi cuarto, ese era uno de mis sueños. Pero vivía en la Ciudad y por tanto, me era muy difícil hacer realidad aquel sueño.

            Cuando conocí al Señor vivía en un apartamento rodeada de edificios, pero en unos pocos meses ya tenía un grupo de hermanos reuniéndonos en la pequeña salita de mi casa. A los 4 años de abrir las puertas de mi hogar para servir al Señor, Dios me regaló una casa amplia con un buen patio para la reunión semanal de mis hermanos y desde las dos ventanas de mi cuarto diviso árboles frondosos. A veces siento que Dios no se olvidó de mis sueños, ni yo.

Oración: Gracias Señor porque haces realidad los sueños de tus hijos. Ayúdanos a serte fieles para merecerlo.

CHILDREN ARE THE HOPE OF THE WORLD

Isaiah 9: 1-6

Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.

            In the church there are usually activities for children at different times of the year, mainly during Christmas and Epiphany.  On Children's Day, the kids become protagonists again, but, and there is always a but, everything changes when children, especially the youngest ones, start to flutter around the church like beautiful butterflies.

            Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs says the gospel text, but there are people who are bothered by such childish expressions, and if they do not stop will tell them to hush, and even look at them with stern looks. Others, showing no delicacy at all, will “kindly” suggest to the mothers that they should leave the church, or that they should do something to keep the child quiet.

           

            This is the primary barrier that keeps children from getting near to God.

Prayer: Lord, help us to remember how we felt so many years ago when we were children and someone stopped us from approaching you the only way we knew how: by acting like happy children. Amen.

Jornada Internacional de la Infancia

LOS NIÑOS SON LA ESPERANZA DEL MUNDO

Isaías 9: 1-6

Dejen que los niñños se aceerquen a mí, y no se lo impidan, porque el reino de de Dios es de los que son como ellos.

            En la iglesia generalmente se realizan actividades para los niños en diferentes momentos del año, fundamentalmente durante la Navidad y Epifanía, también en el día de los niños, los infantes se convierten de nuevo en protagonistas, pero, y siempre existe un pero, la cosa cambia cuando los niños, sobre todo los más pequeños, empiezan a revoletear por el templo como bellas mariposas.

            Dejad a los niños venid a mi y no se lo impidáis, porque de los tales es el reino de los cielos, dice el texto de los evangelios, pero existen personas a las que le molestan esas expresiones infantiles, y si ningún titubeo los mandan a callar, e incluso los miran con ojos severos, y otros haciendo gala de una delicadeza inexistente, les sugieren "amablemente" a las madres que salgan del templo, o que hagan algo para que el niño se calle.

            Esa es la primera actitud para impedir que los niños se acerquen a Dios.

Oración: Señor, ayúdanos a recordar cómo nos sentíamos  hace años cuando éramos niños, y alguien nos impedía acercamos a ti de la única forma que sabíamos: actuando como niños felices.  Amén.
