FRUSTRATED BY GOD

Malachi 2:1-2

If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name. . . then I will send the curse on you

Malachi 2:2 (NRSV)

            Throughout the book of Malachi, God is called the “All Powerful Lord.” It represents the covenant name of the Lord God and means “I AM WHO I AM.” This name reminds us that God is the God who is all powerful and loving who actively cares for us. In the New Testament, this is reflected in the words, “Jesus is Lord.”

            Our actions often show the truth of our hearts more clearly than our words. Malachi reminds us that our actions must come from a heart set on God. When our actions come from another place, they don’t bring the results we were expecting. God will intervene. Sometimes, God intervenes with natural processes leading foolish actions to defeat or to be tripped up by common sense. At time God’s intervention is by supernatural means. God can certainly instantly crush the slyest acts of rebellion. Instead of turning against our God and King, we must search God’s will in prayer. God can guide us through the Scriptures or by a nudge from the Holy Spirit. God can help us to act with humility where there is no clear direction but will always be behind a heart determined to honor God.

 

Prayer: Beloved Jesus, help us to know your will. May your name be honored everywhere! Guide our efforts today, we pray. Amen.

FRUSTADO POR DIOS.

Malaquías 2:1-2

Ustedes han de obedecerme y deben de tomar en serio el honrarme. Si no lo hacen, yo los maldeciré.

Mal. 2:2

            A lo largo del libro de Malaquías, Dios es llamado “el Señor Todopoderoso”. Representa el nombre del pacto de Dios Yahvé, y significa, “YO SOY EL QUE SOY”. Este nombre, nos recuerda que Dios es el Dios todopoderoso y amoroso que se preocupa activamente por nosotros. En el Nuevo Testamento, esto se refleja en las palabras “Jesús es el Señor”.

            Nuestras acciones algunas veces muestran la verdad de nuestros corazones más claramente que nuestras palabras. Malaquías nos recuerda que nuestras acciones deberían venir de un corazón puesto en Dios. Cuando nuestras acciones vienen de cualquier otro lugar no traerán los resultados que esperábamos. Dios intervendrá. Algunas veces Dios interviene a través de procesos naturales, llevando acciones insensatas a la derrota o el fracaso del sentido común. Y a veces Dios interviene de manera sobrenatural. Dios incluso puede aplastar instantáneamente los actos más astutos de rebelión. En lugar de rebelarnos contra nuestro Dios y Rey, debemos buscar su voluntad en oración. Él puede guiarnos por medio de las Escrituras o por un empujón del Espíritu Santo. Él puede movernos a actuar humildemente sin una dirección clara. Pero siempre estará detrás de un corazón que está decidido a honrarlo.

 

Oración: Querido Jesús, ayúdanos a conocer tu voluntad. ¡Que tu nombre sea honrado en todas partes! Guía nuestros esfuerzos hoy, oramos. Amén.
