SMALL THINGS

2 Samuel 11:1-13

He saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her. (NIV)

2 Samuel 11: 2-3

Most addiction problems seem to start small. However, before long they catch us by surprise, astonishing us because we hadn’t seen the warning signs.

That was true for David. His affair with Bathsheba triggered a disaster on an epic scale, but it didn’t start out that way. It started out small, with a walk on the roof of the palace, a wandering eye, and a desire to “know” more of her. David, instead of being a leader, settled very comfortably in his palace. It began to seem less urgent to go out with the troops. He had other people who could do that. He could stay behind in the palace and do whatever he wanted. David didn’t wake up one morning and impulsively decide to have a big problem. He started with a small thing which grew to be huge.

Are there small things in your life that have the potential to become great temptations, which could lead to great sins? What is the Lord asking you to do to prevent it?

Prayer: God, give us the wisdom to see the little things in our lives that the tempter wants to get into. Help us to trust you to overcome the great and small temptations. Amen.

LAS COSAS PEQUEÑAS.

2 Samuel 11:1-13
