WHERE TO FIND THE ANSWERS?

1 PETER 1:17-25

            A great Cuban physicist, now missing, began one of his books with the questions: “What is the origin of life?” “When did the universe arise?” and other similar questions. He ended up acknowledging the impotence of fashionable theories to give a valid answer. This does not negate the value of the sciences, nor of such questions, but highlights the limits of the purely rational scope of human intelligence.

This has been one of the most fascinating topics for thinkers of all eras. However, others have questioned and denied human curiosity in less encouraging periods of humanity. Many others have ended up being defeated by the certainty that the human has divine origin, and that there are simple answers to complex questions. Science cannot transcend beyond those laws of nature that José Martí wanted to find in the social world, because they apply to a part of the truth as far as we can go by this means. What we can't explain by science is in Him.

 

Prayer: Lord of life, help us understand your greatness. Never let us forget a that everything we are is for you, Amen.

¿ DONDE ENCONTRAR LAS RESPUESTAS?

1 PEDRO 1:17-25

La Palabra del Señor permanece para siempre

1 Pedro 1:25

            Un gran físico cubano, desaparecido ya, comenzaba uno de sus libros con las interrogantes: “¿Cuál es el origen de la vida?” “¿Cuándo surgió el universo?”, y otras semejantes. Terminaba reconociendo la impotencia de las teorías de moda en dar una respuesta válida. Esto no niega el valor de las ciencias, ni de tales cuestionamientos, sino que pone en evidencia los límites humanos del alcance meramente racional de nuestra inteligencia.

            Este ha sido uno de los temas más fascinantes para los pensadores de todas las épocas. En cambio, otros han cuestionado y negado la curiosidad humana en períodos menos alentadores de la humanidad, pero muchos han terminado por ser vencidos por la certeza de que lo humano tiene origen divino, y que hay respuestas simples para preguntas complejas: las ciencias no pueden trascender más allá de aquellas leyes de la naturaleza que quería José Martí encontrar en el mundo social porque ellas se aplican a una parte de la verdad, hasta donde no es permitido llegar por este medio. Lo que no podemos explicar por las ciencias, está en Él.

 

Oración: Señor de la vida, ayúdanos a comprender tu grandeza. No permitas que olvidemos nunca que todo cuanto somos, es por ti. Amén.

IN THE BOSOM OF THE FAMILY

MARK 9: 40-41

Then the king will reply to them, “I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have one it for me.”

Matthew 25:40 (CEB)

            When difficulties arrive, most of us selfishly put the resolution of our personal needs and those close to us above all else. The idea of family shrinks to just those very close to us.

             It is then the moment when we forget those left outside that small nucleus and the need of the other is unknown. We set aside the least close that go through tribulations:  the old man who requires companionship, or even a simple greeting, to the sick person who claims our help, to the child who wishes to have his toy repaired, and all the great little things that we can overlook if we are far from God, if in our hearts does not burn the love that exists of Him and for Him.

            What are we when we do not know we belong to the great human family?

 

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, when selfishness preys on us, taking care only of our problems, make us see how wrong we are. Help us see in all those in need, part of us, and see You in them as well. Amen.

EN EL SENO DE LA FAMILIA

MARCOS 9: 40-41

De cierto les digo, todo lo que hicieron por uno de mis hermanos más pequeños, por mí lo hicieron

Mateo 25:40

            Cuando las dificultades hacen su arribo, la mayoría de las personas hacemos acopio de egoísmo y ponemos por encima de todo la resolución  de nuestras necesidades personales que se extienden a un número limitado de afectos cercanos, cercanísimos por lo general. La idea de la familia se reduce.

            Es entonces el momento en que nos olvidamos de los que quedan fuera de ese pequeño núcleo y se pasa a desconocer la necesidad del otro. Dejamos a un lado al menos allegado que pasa por tribulaciones: al anciano que requiere compañía, o hasta de un simple saludo, al enfermo que reclama nuestro auxilio, al niño que desea se le repare su juguete, y todas las pequeñas grandes cosas que podemos pasar por alto si estamos lejos de Dios, si en nuestros corazones no arde el amor que de Él y por Él existe.

            ¿Qué somos cuándo desconocemos nuestra pertenencia a la gran familia humana?

 

Oración: Amado Padre Celestial, cuando el egoísmo haga presa de nosotros, ocupándonos solamente de nuestros problemas, haznos ver lo equivocado que estamos. Ayúdanos a ver en todos los necesitados, parte de nosotros, y a verte también a Ti en ellos. Amén.

New Year

DO NOT LIVE IN THE PAST

HEBREWS 12:15

 

”Don’t call me Naomi,” she told them, “Call me Mara for the Almighty has made my life very bitter.

Ruth 1:20 (CEB)

            When a person lets bitterness overpower their heart, they begin to live in the past and don’t see God’s provision, protection, presence and power in the present, and the possibilities that He has in store in the future.

            Naomi, Ruth’s mother-in-law suffered many losses in her life. But despite this, she had reason to praise God. The Lord gave Naomi a loyal and loving daughter-in-law, hunger no longer punished her native land, and she was able to live with her friends again. In addition, Naomi received the protection of Boaz, who was her family, and who did not allow her to lack anything. God changed the circumstances that afflicted Naomi and gave her a grandson to care for her in her old age.

            Today we also have the joy of having the Lord Jesus as our rescuer. He is the one who gives us what we need and protects us with his loving and faithful presence. We can’t let bitterness harm our life with Christ. Bitterness is a feeling that obscures our vision of reality and sucks away our hope in the future, contaminating even our relationships. We cannot forget that the future is as beautiful as God promises.

 

Prayer: Heavenly Father, in the beginning of this new year I come to ask for your blessing, so that I can look only at the hopeful future you have in my way. Thank you for the joy of having you in my life. Through Jesus Christ, Amen.

Año Nuevo

NO VIVA EN EL PASADO

HEBREOS 12:15

Por favor, ya no me digan dulce, llámenme amarga, porque Dios todopoderoso me ha amargado la vida

Rut 1:20

            Cuando una persona permite que la amargura se apodere de su corazón, comienza a vivir en el pasado y no logra ver la provisión, la protección, la presencia y el poder de Dios en el presente, y las posibilidades que Él reserva para el futuro.

            Noemí, la suegra de Rut, sufrió muchas pérdidas en su vida. Pero a pesar de ello, tenía motivos para alabar a Dios: el Señor le dio una nuera leal y amorosa, el hambre ya no castigaba a su tierra natal, y ella pudo volver a convivir con sus amigos. Sumado a ello, Noemí recibió la protección de Booz, que era su familia, y no permitió que nada le faltase. Dios cambió las circunstancias que el afligían y le regaló un nieto para que la cuidara en su vejez.

            Hoy nosotros tenemos también la alegría de tener al Señor Jesús como nuestro rescatador. Él es quien nos da lo que necesitamos y nos protege con su presencia amorosa y fiel. No podemos permitir que la amargura perjudique nuestra convivencia con Cristo. La amargura es un sentimiento que oscurece nuestra visión de la realidad y succiona nuestra esperanza en el futuro, contaminando aun hasta nuestras relaciones. No podemos olvidar que el futuro es tan bello como las promesas de Dios.

 

Oración: Padre Celestial, en el comienzo de este año vengo a pedirte tu bendición. Guía mi vida, Señor, de tal manera que pueda yo mirar solamente hacia el futuro esperanzador que tienes en mi camino. Gracias por la dicha de tenerte en mi vida. Por Jesús, amén.
