HELP! GOD FORGOT ABOUT ME

            When you read today’s meditation you will surely identify with the title, because many people think that God has forgotten them. Do you feel identity?  Sometimes we say to ourselves why has God abandoned me.  

            Is it that I am not worthy? I have put all my trust in Him, and I still have no answer. I feel abandoned, alone, and sad. If God loves me, why does he let these bad things happen to me. I pray but he never answers me.

            The truth is that many people have forgotten how to live. They have become so focused on the problems and in the things  that happen to them that they forget the greatness of God and the plans He has for them. His plans are for well-being. God has not forgotten you; he has always been attentive and has cared for each detail of your life. It is what I always say: being alive is the marvelous opportunity to go after the dreams that God has put in our hearts. God did not forget, does not forget, and will not forget you, because you are his greatest creation. You are a poem of Him. What happens is that God is not going to do what we should do.

 

Prayer: No, Lord. Now I know that you did not forget me, but that you weave your purpose into my life. Don’t let me forget you. Amen.

¡AUXILIO! DIOS SE OLVIDO DE MÍ

Oseas 4:1-6

            Cuando leas esta meditación de hoy seguro pensarás que te identificas con el título de la misma,  porque muchas personas que Dios se ha olvidado de ellas. ¿Te sientes identificado? A veces nos decimos a nosotros mismos: ¿Por qué me abandonó Dios? ¿Es que acaso no soy digno? He puesto toda mi confianza en Él y todavía no tengo respuesta. Me siento abandonado, solo y triste. ¿Si Dios me ama,  por qué permite que estas cosas malas me ocurran? ¿Por qué siempre oro y nunca me responde? 

            La verdad es que muchas personas han olvidado cómo vivir, se han centrado tanto en los problemas y en las cosas que les acontecen que se olvidan de la grandeza de Dios y de los planes que tiene Él para ellos. Sus planes son de bienestar. Dios no se ha olvidado de usted, siempre ha estado pendiente y ha cuidado cada detalle de su vida. Es lo que siempre digo: el hecho de estar vivo es la maravillosa oportunidad para ir tras los sueños que Dios puso en nuestros corazones. Dios no se olvidó, no se olvida y no se olvidará de ti, porque tú eres su máxima creación, tú eres un poema de Él. Lo que sucede es que Dios no va a hacer lo que a nosotros nos toca hacer.

 

Oración: No, Señor. Ahora sé que no me olvidaste, sino que tejes tu propósito en mi vida. No permitas que yo vaya a olvidarte. Amén.

BEING BORN AGAIN

Psalm 121

For God so loved the world he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

John 3:16 (NRSV)

            Martín Luther called this verse “the summary of the Gospel,” for it was the essence of the Christian message. Jesus told Nicodemus that to understand the Kingdom of God he had to be born again. Many of us are like Nicodemus. He is polite, a leader who is interested in doing the right thing, is curious and questions what goes on around him. Nicodemus wanted to understand faith, he wanted to know who Jesus was and for everything to make sense; his curiosity leads him to walk away from his group and see Jesus at night to ask him these questions. Nicodemus asks, admitting that Jesus had impacted him, but also admitting that he wanted to know more. Unfortunately, he received affirmations that made things even worse for him. To be born again through water and the Spirit was not something that could be earned, nor achieved.

            Today’s Gospel invites us to walk the paths of faith, giving our hearts as best we can, always seeking the God who loves us so much, the one who loves himself so much as to give himself for our good. All that moves God in this project of being born again is love. It is mystery and gift.

 

Prayer: Lord, teach us to approach You without prejudice, distrust, or arrogance. We need to be born again by your Spirit so that we can be what you want us to be. Amen.

VOLVER A NACER

Salmo 121

Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que entregó a su Hijo único para que todo aquel que en él cree, no perezca, sino que tenga vida eterna.

Juan 3:16

            Martín Lutero llamó este versículo “el resumen del Evangelio”, pues era la esencia del mensaje cristiano. Jesús le dijo a Nicodemo que para entender el Reino de Dios debía nacer otra vez. Muchos de nosotros nos parecemos a Nicodemo. Es educado, un líder que está interesado en hacer lo correcto, es curioso y cuestiona lo que sucede a su alrededor. Nicodemo quería entender la fe, quería saber quién era Jesús y que todo tuviera sentido; su curiosidad le lleva a alejarse de su grupo y ver a Jesús de noche para hacerle  estas preguntas. Nicodemo pregunta, admitiendo que Jesús le había impactado, pero también admitiendo que quería saber más. Lamentablemente recibió afirmaciones que empeoraron aun más las cosas para él. Volver a nacer mediante el agua y el Espíritu no era algo que podía ganarse, ni conseguir.

            El Evangelio de hoy nos invita a transitar por los caminos de la fe entregando nuestro corazón lo mejor que podamos, buscando siempre al Dios que tanto nos ama, ese que tal modo ama como  para darse a sí mismo por nuestro bien. Todo lo que mueve a Dios en este proyecto de volver a nacer es el amor. Es misterio y regalo.

 

Oración: Señor, enséñanos a acercarnos a Ti sin prejuicios, desconfianza, o arrogancias. Necesitamos nacer de nuevo por tu Espíritu para poder ser lo que Tú deseas. Amén.

LOOK AROUND

Mark 6:30-34

As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

Mark 6:34 (NRSV)

            At times we think our problem is the biggest, but if  we look carefully in all directions and see beyond our own noses, we will find someone who is in a more painful situation than ours and has no one to help  or wipe away his tears amid his sadness. Perhaps for them there is no solution.  But because we can grow in our weaknesses, for the children of God every problem is a challenge to be overcome. He strengthens us when we are weak, to those who love God all things are working for good. We know that by faith we have been called according to His purpose.

            When you believe that you will not be able to overcome your problem or from which you will not be able to escape, look carefully. You will understand that you are not alone, that you can feel peace and joy amid your storms. Do not pay most attention to your problems, but to help the others that need, because by serving we find the best lessons and learn from our own shortcomings.

 

Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my heart. I want to hear your voice. I need you. Help me to see beyond my problem and  begin to see the needs of my neighbor. Amen.

MIRA A TU ALREDEDOR

Marcos 6:30-34

Y salió Jesús, y vio una gran ,multitud, y tuvo compasión de ellos, porque eran como ovejas que no tenían pastor; y comenzó a enseñarles muchas cosas

            A veces creemos que nuestro problema es el mayor, que nadie nos entiende o que no llega la solución. Pero si miramos cuidadosamente en todas las direcciones y vemos más allá de nuestras propias narices, encontraremos a alguien que está en una situación más dolorosa que la nuestra y no tiene quien le socorra o seque sus lágrimas en medio de su tristeza. Quizás para ellos no hay solución. Pero para los hijos de Dios todo problema es una meta lista para vencerse, porque podemos crecernos en nuestras debilidades. Él nos  fortalece cuando somos débiles, a los que aman a Dios todas las cosas les ayudan a bien. Sabemos por fe que hemos sido llamados conforme a su propósito.

            Cuando creas que tu problema es tal que no podrás vencerlo o del cual no podrás escapar, mira con cuidado, y comprenderás que no estás solo, que puedes sentir paz y gozo en medio de tus tormentas. No prestes la mayor atención a tus problemas, sino a la ayuda que necesita el prójimo, pues sirviendo encontramos las mejores lecciones y aprendemos de nuestras propias carencias.

Oración: Señor Jesús, abre mi corazón. Quiero oír tu voz. Te necesito. Ayúdame a  ver más allá de mi problema, y comenzar a ver las necesidades del prójimo. Amén.
