THE SPIRIT IN OUR HEART

Galatians 4: 4-7

God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts….

Galatians 4:6 a (NRSV)

            Almost always when we see the image of a heart, we associate it with love.  The heart is the place where we put these people or things that we love.  We can say that there we conserve a certain intimacy with our deepest wishes.

            Now the year is almost over and it is a good exercise to think over those objectives that we have met, how they have been fulfilled in the last year.  We also remember the people who have entered our heart and those who have left it. God also acts in our hearts and his infinite love has been placed in the spirit of Jesus Christ.  It is up to us to let this Spirit be the one who guides us. May it be with a soft breeze, or a strong one, but the Spirit flows through all of our being.  In the most difficult times in our life, the security of having the Spirit living in us should animate us and give us the certainty that we are never alone. 

 

Prayer: Spirit of Life, we thank you because your presence is in our heart.  Do not ever leave it.  We want you to always be present in our life.  Amen.

EL ESPÍRITU EN NUESTRO CORAZÓN

Gálatas 4: 4-7

Dios envió el espíritu de su Hijo a nuestros corazones

Gálatas 4:6 a

            Casi siempre que vemos la imagen de un corazón la asociamos con el amor. El corazón es el lugar donde depositamos aquellas personas o cosas que amamos. Podemos decir que ahí conservamos cierta intimidad con nuestros deseos más profundos. 

            Ya casi termina el año  y es buen ejercicio pensar en aquellos objetivos que nos trazamos, cómo ha sido su cumplimiento. También recordamos las personas que han  entrado a nuestro corazón y las que han salido de él. Dios también actúa en nuestros corazones y  en su infinito amor ha colocado el espíritu de Jesucristo.  Nos corresponde dejar que ese Espíritu sea quien nos guíe. Ya sea con suave viento, o fuerte, pero que inunda todo nuestro ser. En los momentos más difíciles de nuestra vida, la seguridad de tener el Espíritu habitando en nosotros y nosotras debe animarnos y darnos la certeza de que nunca estamos solos.

 

Oración: Espíritu de Vida, te agradecemos porque tu presencia está en nuestro corazón. No te apartes nunca de él. Queremos que estés presente siempre en nuestra vida. Amén.

Give thanks to God in Everything

Psalm 89:1-4

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 89:1(NRSV)

            A few days ago I saw an interview with a North American pastor.  He was very young when he felt the call of the Lord to preach the gospel in North Korea. In that country Christianity was prohibited.  This man arrived in a country where speaking of Jesus would put his life at risk, but the desire to respond to the call in his heart was stronger.

            When he had achieved a small group for prayer he was imprisoned, with charges that he intended to overthrow the Korean government.  He said that they tortured him in many ways, one of them was psychologically, they put him in the middle of his room surrounded by guards and he would have to stand completely still for up to five hours.  It was on one of these occasions that he felt a fire on one of his hands. Right away he knew that he was in the presence of the Holy Spirit and God had not abandoned him.

            God shows us mercy in whatever situation in our lives. God is there even in our worst times, although we don’t feel him.

 

Prayer: Thank you, Lord for your infinite mercy; we are grateful to you for everything, Holy Father.  Amen.

DAD GRACIAS A DIOS EN TODO

Salmo  89:1-4

Por siempre cantaré de las misericordias del Señor, con mi boca daré a conocer tu fidelidad a todas las generaciones.

Salmo 89:1

            Hace unos días vi una entrevista a un pastor norteamericano. Siendo muy joven sintió el llamado del Señor para predicar el evangelio en Corea del Norte. En dicho país el cristianismo estaba prohibido. Este hombre llegó a un lugar donde hablar de Jesús iba a poner en riesgo su vida, pero el deseo de responder al  llamado en su corazón era mucho más fuerte.

            Cuando había logrado un pequeño grupo de oración fue apresado, con cargos de intentar derrocar al Estado coreano. Dice que lo torturaron de muchas formas, una de ellas fue psicológicamente, lo colocaban en el centro de una habitación rodeada de guardias y debía estar parado sin moverse hasta 5 horas. En una de esas ocasiones, sintió un fuego en una de sus manos. Enseguida supo que estaba en la presencia del Espíritu Santo y que Dios no lo había abandonado.

            Dios se muestra misericordioso en cualquier situación en nuestras vidas, está ahí aunque no le sintamos, aun en nuestros peores momentos.

 

Oración: Gracias Señor por tu misericordia infinita, te agradecemos por todo Padre Santo. Amén.

The Messiah has come

Luke 2:22-40

My eyes have seen your salvation.

Luke 2:30 (NRSV)

            Sometimes we ask ourselves—why did Jesus come to the world?  We all know the answer.  But at times we don’t realize what is the object of the coming of this child who yesterday we celebrated with much praise.  Jesus was presented to God to fulfill that which is written in the law of the Lord.  The arrival of this child changed the world.

            Jesus came to save his people, to save us from all sin.  Even knowing that he would be betrayed, he gave up his life.  May we be faithful followers of the Messiah.  We work as a church to reach the glory that we need so much.  May we find faith today, in difficult times, and may we ask with love, reconciliation, peace, and happiness. 

            To live with Jesus is to wake up every day walking in the light of God.  Let us close our eyes for five seconds, let us forget everything else, let us ask the Lord that our faith may be more intense every day. When we open our eyes, we see that all the problems have lost their value, because to have faith is to move mountains.

            We place before the Lord our problems, our thanksgivings.  Let us say these words of Simeon: “my eyes have seen your salvation already,” and we will live in the fullness of walking toward the kingdom of God. 

 

Prayer: Lord, purify our souls, help us to trust in you every day, so that we may serve you as we should.  Amen.

HA VENIDO EL MESIAS

Lucas  2: 22.40

Mis ojos han visto ya tu salvación.

Lucas 2:30

            ¿Alguna vez nos hemos preguntado para qué vino Jesús al mundo? La respuesta todos la conocemos. Pero a veces no tenemos en cuenta cual es el objetivo de la venida de ese niño que ayer celebramos con mucha alabanza. Jesús fue presentado a Dios para cumplir lo que está escrito en la ley del Señor. La llegada de este niño cambió al mundo.

            Jesús vino para salvar a su pueblo, para salvarnos de todo pecado. Aun sabiendo que iba a ser traicionado entregó su vida. Seamos fieles seguidores del Mesías. Trabajemos como iglesia para alcanzar la gloria que tanto necesitamos. Encontremos la fe, hoy, en momentos difíciles, pidamos con amor la reconciliación, la paz, la felicidad.

            Vivir con Jesús es despertar todos los días, caminando a la luz de Dios. Cerremos los ojos cinco segundos, olvidémonos de todo, pidamos al señor que nuestra fe sea cada vez más intensa, y al abrirlos verán que todos los problemas habrán perdido valor, porque tener fe es mover montañas.

            Presentemos al Señor nuestros problemas, nuestras gratitudes. Digamos aquellas palabras de Simeón: “mis ojos han visto ya tu salvación”, y viviremos en la plenitud de estar caminando hacia el reino de Dios.

 

Oración: Señor, purifica nuestra alma, ayúdanos a confiar en ti cada día, para poder servirte como debemos. Amén.
